Would you say these trainers from vinted are in "very good condition"

I bought these trainers from vinted
Altogether was £15 with postage
They arrived and they have yellow marks on them
Not sure if it's glue ?
Or meant to be like this ?
I don't think they are
Would you say these are very good condition?

Their definition of very good (when you choose it to sell on vinted) includes some small signs of wear or imperfections if I remember correctly.

yaddaoooh · 24/10/2024 09:41

I would of thought if they had been glued it would be mentioned and not listed as very good (it it is glue )

Well yes they look practically unworn. Not 'perfect' but certainly 'vgc' IMHO.

They look like they have been like that from new, and it was part of the manufacturing process.

TellmethestoryofO · 24/10/2024 09:43

I would have expected the glue to be shown in the Vinted photos?
If it's not that's a bit cheeky but would probably still fall under 'very good' condition I think.

KnickerlessFlannel · 24/10/2024 09:44

Google says its very common on white reebok shoes

AsTim3GoesBy · 24/10/2024 09:47

They look like they may never have been worn, so yes they are in vgc. However, they're probably not "new". My guess is that the seller has had them for years but not worn them.

yaddaoooh · 24/10/2024 09:49

Clearer pic
I'm not gonna raise a issue or anything as they are still a good bargain
My dad only wanted some cheap ones to take the dog out with
Never seen that before on any trainers I had bought so wasn't sure
Thankyou

They're fake that's why you can see the glue

yaddaoooh · 24/10/2024 09:51

Are they fake ?

catin8oots · 24/10/2024 09:52

Fakes

AutumnLeaves1990 · 24/10/2024 09:53

They might have been bought from one of their imperfections websites ?

yaddaoooh · 24/10/2024 09:55

It's a bit cheeky if they are fake
Any idea how to check if they are real ?

Yes they’re fine - white trainers do go a touch yellow with age but usually you’ve worn them so
it doesn’t show under the wear.

Bargain!

Toiletproblems · 24/10/2024 09:59

They're fake

Alifemadelessordinary · 24/10/2024 10:03

I had a Strathberry bag where the glue had yellowed over time on the bottom edge. It was genuine so it can happen. I'm a bag person though not a trainer person so have no idea about these.

I'd personally raise a case and say you'd like to return. I think that discoloration of that extent should be mentioned in the listing to be honest.

I appreciate they're only £15 but I wouldn't wear them like that.

Neveranynamesleft · 24/10/2024 10:08

For £15 I personally wouldn't bother returning them but that up to you. Would probably cost as much, if not more, for a cheap pair of supermarket trainers. If they're only for walking the dog then they're fine, who is going to be looking at them ?! Does it really matter if they're fake ?

Fluufer · 24/10/2024 10:10

There fakes. The glue is on purpose to make them look old. If you google lens your pictures, you'll find loads of the same gluey shoes on dodgy sites.

yaddaoooh · 24/10/2024 10:11

It's not really the point
If they are fake they aren't going to be good quality like genuine reebok trainers
Yes they were only £15 but should be advertised as what they are

coffeesaveslives · 24/10/2024 10:12

I agree with those saying they're fakes or from one of those "seconds" websites where they sell genuine shoes that have minor faults with them and couldn't be sold at full price.

For £15 it wouldn't bother me though, they're just trainers.

pumpkinpam · 24/10/2024 10:33

If they've been glued together they definitely aren't in very good condition. Or they're fake as pp suggested. I love vinted but twice recently I've been conned by 'very food' items that arrived bobbly or with a hole. Some people are just scummy.

ChampagneBlossom44 · 24/10/2024 10:33

Hi, this is can happen unfortunately, it’s more obvious in white shoes & trainers. They use clear adhesive but the glue can oxidise over time & it’s a bit unsightly. I think it’s a lot more common if they’re kept in cold conditions, I had to move all my shoes & trainers away from where I had the wardrobe against an external wall but ended up binning a few pairs of trainers & espadrilles in light colours because nothing brings the glue back to white once the yellow creeps in. I was gutted when I took them out the boxes in summer & this has happened, especially as one pair were £90. You could try tip-ex or white nail varnish which did cover the issue when I tried it, but this tend to crack when you walk in them so it’s not a permanent solution

Completelyjo · 24/10/2024 10:34

Surely those yellow marks would have been obvious from the listing photos?

yaddaoooh · 24/10/2024 10:53

This was the listing photos

They're old - older trainers weren't as pristine with visible glue. It yellows with age- same as if you wash them and dry them on a heat source, the glue and sole can yellow
