Can’t think of another person who would create a similar national outpouring of grief like Princess Diana did.

Rejoining the EU. But I am in my 70s.

Teacher here, my Internet will undoubtedly stop working and be overwhelmed if there's a snow day. None of the kids will be online they will all be out in the snow. I will set work but I won't be sat like a lemon talking to no audience.

Love it!

I take your point. 'Queen of England' is not the correct wording here. However, I and (I reckon) all the other PPs knew what the PP meant. Your correction (in response to two posts now) does seem a bit pedantic, tbh, and it would be a shame if it derailed the thread.

She as also Queen or Scots (at the opening of the Scottish Parliament), Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a load of other countries that are part of the commonwealth.

Interestingly she was Elizabeth II in them (with objections in Scotland) despite them never having a Queen Elizabeth I.

We often use incorrect titles or only use one title when there are options eg there has never been a Princess Diana or a Prince Harry but people know who you are talking about

World peace!

Global cooling. But I do think renewable/green energy is going well.

taxguru · 22/10/2024 07:31

Affordable, reliable and integrated public transport!

Politics without celebrities. There will be fewer that have just done normal jobs before coming into power; I think there’ll be more like Trump and Boris Johnson to win by fame and notoriety rather than principles.

Beast from the east was pre-Covid though wasn’t it? The online learning that came along with Covid (as well as the working from home) means no pissing about in the snow just because you can’t get to school (or work 😭).

Ahhh our internet would mysteriously fail if there was a snow day... I want my children out playing in it!

They are hard workers and we value education but decent snow here is rare

Mischance · 22/10/2024 07:47

I wouldn't rule anything out. Ancient Chinese Curse, 'May you live in interesting times. '

I never really get what this means. Surely interesting times are better than a boring time??

@ssd
"Interesting" is a euphemism. Anyone who has experienced war / political unrest / famine / flooding / earthquake / etc etc would prefer "boring" any day.
