Wolves winning top flight of English football

Olympics in the uk.

Premier league won't let The Wolves win anything.

TypingoftheDead · 21/10/2024 21:50

England winning the World Cup (not that I care, but I don’t see it happening). Actually, there’s a lot of other contests, sports and otherwise (Eurovision is one) that I don’t see England winning outright again.
Affordable living.

I take your point. 'Queen of England' is not the correct wording here. However, I and (I reckon) all the other PPs knew what the PP meant. Your correction (in response to two posts now) does seem a bit pedantic, tbh, and it would be a shame if it derailed the thread.

I appreciate that, and I did notice it myself, but didn't feel this was the right moment or space to correct someone who'd posted in good faith.

Going back to pessimism, I don't think we'll see a return to 'normal', pre-climate change weather. Weather-related emergencies are going to become - are - the new normal.

MiraculousLadybug · 21/10/2024 21:55

Haley's Comet.

People queuing through the night for books. I used to love seeing the queue for harry potter books when they were released, people were joining it as I was heading home nights out Grin

Pre-orders and audiobooks have rather squashed that I think

Yes the physical nature of buying things has changed.

As an 8 year old I was in a queue for Matilda in '88 so can relate to excitement of the Harry Potter craze that came later.

No white Christmas is a great answer. Recall quite a few of them growing up but over the past 10 years or so it's got warmer and warmer. I took up cycling in the mornings in late 2013 and that winter there was some days I couldn't go due to ice being on the road, but icey roads have decreased over the years that there are now very few days I cannot go.

Having a clear view of my feet while standing.,

The return of the plain chocolate Bounty.

Water-cooler conversations about last night’s TV at work. A combination of on-demand viewing, people dispersed across more platforms and hybrid working has killed it off in most work places.

Haley's Comet.

I remember my (science teacher) dad making us wait up for it at our old child home so maybe 86?

Don't worry - it was shit then, barely a flash.

You won't be missing out in this lifetime 😀

KnopkaPixie · 21/10/2024 22:12

I wouldn't rule anything out. Ancient Chinese Curse, 'May you live in interesting times. '

Ah that makes me feel better! It was in the sky when I was born according to DF who wanted to name me after it, but I've got a life-limiting condition, so unlikely to live to see its return.

A qualifier winning a grand slam without losing a set.

ILoveToCleanSaidNooneEver · 21/10/2024 22:18

Although it has clearly never happened, in general, I will not see a world without the consumption of animals. If the world does manage to survive, I do think that one day people will look back and be disgusted about the billions of land animals that are destroyed for our diet today.

TokyoSushi · 21/10/2024 22:18

Snow up to my knees like it was in 2010.

Pumpkittenspice · 21/10/2024 22:19

A snow day for children

Teaching will be done online instead, such a pity

MarvellousMable · 21/10/2024 22:19

Another Tory or Labour government screwing the rental market, claiming to be on the side of tenants, whilst rubbing their hands in glee at all the extra tax they take from their new tax and regulatory legislation, which send rents spiralling. This sending the most unable to rent into further financial distress.

TentEntWenTyfOur · 21/10/2024 22:19

A thread on Mumsnet without someone turning up and nitpicking for the sake of it.

The world will survive. Human life won't. Is that a disaster? I don't think so

Oh, we had a snow day during the Beast from the East. I wouldn't rule that out just yet.

Really sad about the plain chocolate bounty. Rest in peace my sweet chocolate covered escape to paradise.

I had a season ticket back in the day. Moved away now Jay Jay, Youri & Campo were the best of times 😭

Being beaten and abused regularly by a 'partner'.

I hear ya. For me it's not being abused by a parent and grandparent ever again.

StMarieforme · 21/10/2024 22:33

@SunsetSkylane all those in their 20s where I am cannot afford to buy. Those in their 30s have been able to with some of the new build offers around.
