Dh wants to watch a horror tonight to get in the pre Halloween spirit! Any recommendations please?

Any particular type? Gore? Ghosts? Zombies? Vampires? or does he like absolutely anything?

edwinbear · 15/10/2024 16:30

I watched 'Us' at the weekend. Never seen or heard of it before but it was excellent. Essentially everyone in America has a doppelganger, they live in underground tunnels, and (understandably) get a bit fed up with that lifestyle. So they start coming up into the 'real world' to take over.

Downwardpuppy · 15/10/2024 16:32

@edwinbear thanks I'll look that up!

@username3678 probably more spooky.. For me it's something that's very easy to follow as I have such a short attention span!

Candyman, old but good.

Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween or Childs Play

kungfullama · 15/10/2024 16:37

The Witch with Anya Taylor-Joy is a great, atmospheric Halloween film.

Or you could just go for the obvious....Halloween.

Bobje · 15/10/2024 16:37

The classics - The Omen and Rosemary's Baby.
ETA - And The Fog.

EngineEngineNumber9 · 15/10/2024 16:38

The Shining.

Seagall · 15/10/2024 16:40

Terrifier 2 😆 🤮🤡

MarshmallowsOnToast · 15/10/2024 16:41

For spooky you can't go wrong with The Conjuring or Insidious

ShipshapeShore · 15/10/2024 16:43

I loved Insidious and The Conjuring for spookiness. Also Sleepy Hollow - I get properly scared by the headless horseman scenes 😂.

ShipshapeShore · 15/10/2024 16:43

Great minds there @MarshmallowsOnToast !

Downwardpuppy · 15/10/2024 16:48

Brilliant suggestions here, thanks so much!

The Omen (the original), The shining, Wolf Creek, Sinister, The woman in black, Bram Stokers Dracula are some of my favourites

Candaceowens · 15/10/2024 16:52

Anything from the conjuring universe will be spooky.

Blumhouse films are excellent though, especially 'Get Out' it's one of the best I've watched.

InMyGarden · 15/10/2024 16:53

Witchfinder General with Vincent Price

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 15/10/2024 16:54

Creep is another if you want a slasher(set at Charing Cross tube station and the unused hospital wards). Never have I heard all the women in the cinema all gasp and cross their legs at the same time until that film.

nicslackey1 · 15/10/2024 16:56

The Awakening, has The Others vibes

StickyStones · 15/10/2024 16:59

The Descent and Paranormal Activity. I also loved The Conjuring.

I can't cope with anything potentially 'real' like Saw etc but give me the ghosts and ghouls any day!

StickyStones · 15/10/2024 17:00

Also I Married An Axe-Murder for a bit of thriller-lite humour

MonCoeur · 15/10/2024 17:00

The Wicker Man

Hereditary

A Dark Song

The Wailing

LinesAndLinesAndLinesAndLines · 15/10/2024 17:06

Late night with the devil

Late night with the devil

I didn’t find this one remotely scary but it did a great job of recreating those old late night talk shows, and it was tons of fun!

Seagall · 15/10/2024 16:40

Terrifier 2 😆 🤮🤡

The 80s vibe is what really drew me in. Luckily the prosthetics/CGI is slightly laughable which makes it possible to watch without too much trauma 🤣

saltysandysea · 15/10/2024 17:12

The fog (original) with Jamie Lee curtis. Remake is pants.
