Anyone seen this bank detail thing with Spanish hotels

It was meant to come in from October 1st but had been delayed until December 1st. When checking in now you have to also give your bank details etc instead of just passport details.
The Spanish goverment say it's so they know who is in the country, but they know that anyway with our passports.

How do people feel about this ?
Why do they need this extra data? We're not supposed to give our bank details out usually are we so why do the Spanish government now want them ? It seems like a big privacy invasion to me !

We've just had an email from the owner of the apartment we've rented through Vrbo for after Christmas .

Aside from the bank information,
it's stuff that they would normally ask for - the difference here seems to be that they want you to provide the information for them in a list rather than hand over your passports for them to take your details.
