Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.
Finsbury Park

I believe that allows me to invoke the inverse square rule to proceed to wood green

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 13/01/2025 18:51

<<Gasp>> On the wireless, they’re playing Strip MC. I do hope it doesn’t give the Contessa ideas. I shall move swiftly to

Kilburn High Road

TragicMuse · 15/01/2025 20:43

I've given this an enormous amount of thought.

Great Portland Street.

LlynTegid · 16/01/2025 09:16

I am concerned that those on the radio may have lost their way and some of their skills in the game of games.

Marylebone

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 16/01/2025 10:55

It is true, LlynTegid, that the version played on the wireless is but a pale imitation of the game played here.

Pimlico

Seaside1234 · 16/01/2025 23:03

Very pale, if it's the Contessa we're talking about.

Gospel Oak

TragicMuse · 17/01/2025 13:57

I don't often venture to the mild mild west, north London gel that I am.

Maybe I should expand my horizons.

West Acton

LlynTegid · 19/01/2025 10:46

I venture west from time to time, in spite of the issue that occurred in the 1978 Ealing tournament even though it was my first encounter with the Major.

Perivale

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 19/01/2025 10:48

I too used to be wary of going west, but those lovely boys at the pet shop exhorted me to do so and I’ve never looked back.

Osterley

Seaside1234 · 19/01/2025 19:25

Well if you're going west you might as well do it properly.

Ealing Broadway

LlynTegid · 20/01/2025 08:16

Using the Elizabeth line rule I move to Paddington.

HazelBite · 22/01/2025 20:15

I think it would be a good idea to venture northwards so Watford!

Arlanymor · 22/01/2025 20:27

Oh Watford, dear Watford. There’s a Tesco Extra there now I understand… the Contessa’s cousin-in-law informed me over abalone cordial and peacock vol-au-vents just the other night. She’s into the new Heston cookbook which is only available to those with an account at Coutts I understand.

Regardless, and with my usual TCTTW manoeuvres it’s a tactical marmalade slip for me to Cutty Sark*. Which is excellent rhyming slang if you think about it.

*Throw Caution To The Wind… anyone’s wind really.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 22/01/2025 22:15

Caution very clearly has been thrown to the wind! It leads me to posit a double Perkins to

Holland Park

Seaside1234 · 22/01/2025 22:40

Elegant little sequence of moves there, players. Leads nicely into a straight flush to Sudbury Hill

LlynTegid · 23/01/2025 07:11

I think there are still some trains at Rayners Lane so move there to check.

Boredmum24 · 23/01/2025 09:18

That allows a Perkins eclipse to chesham

TragicMuse · 23/01/2025 13:06

I had an account at Coutt's when I was 15. Fleet Street branch. It was marvellous. The card-holder and cheque-book-cover were a beautiful burgundy leather. When automatic cheque printing because a thing Coutt's cheques were too wide to fit through the printer. I once proffered my cheque guarantee card at Fortnum's only for it to be airily waved away with a 'no need'...

Happy days, before the overdraft. Before the entail.

I used to get off at Chancery Lane when going to see the manager...

HazelBite · 24/01/2025 06:02

Ah Coutts at Fleet Street they always held the door open for me when I did his Lordships banking, which leads me very nicely to Temple

LlynTegid · 24/01/2025 06:59

I move via the closed line and walking rules via Aldwych to Holborn.

TragicMuse · 24/01/2025 18:34

Farringdon. <taps nose> I wasn't here. Right?

Seaside1234 · 24/01/2025 22:13

You been watching the Traitors, @TragicMuse ?

Hainault

LlynTegid · 25/01/2025 11:10

I can imagine the said show has quite an audience in Chigwell so I move to there.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 25/01/2025 15:56

In which case, I have no option but

Ongar

HazelBite · 26/01/2025 17:47

I can only go to Grange Hill
