Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.
Finsbury Park

I fancy the great feast needs to be memorialised with a jaunt to Monument.

Happy Christmas one and all!

LlynTegid · 27/12/2024 14:10

Apparently there used to be Christmas Day trains, perhaps when there was association football on the day itself. Maybe some even played the game of games on the day.

Mansion House

MyrtleStrumpet · 29/12/2024 13:50

I see the season has reduced play in these quarters! No matter. I am returned from the Vatican where his holiness and I enjoyed a few games. He has reminded me of the Ecclesiastical Excuses that are applicable between Christmas and the Feast of the Holy Family on the 1 January. I checked with the Superioress who confirmed that such excuses are permitted.

Which allows me to move to

Seven Sisters

I know!

TragicMuse · 29/12/2024 14:19

Excellent move Myrtle. His Eminence neglected to mention that when we met - how naughty of him!

I've just read up on Ecclesiastical Excuses and believe i can safely skirt round to Archway.

Boredmum24 · 29/12/2024 15:50

May be Pushing boundaries but I believe the afforementioned excuses allow a diversion to green park

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 29/12/2024 16:52

Aha! The game is afoot!

Baker Street

Seaside1234 · 30/12/2024 10:00

The excesses of the season are being shaken off; January energy coursing through! Bank!

TragicMuse · 30/12/2024 16:00

I'm very surprised that this next move wasn't played in the last week. As we finish up the leftovers with a delicious pie, I'm taking a seasonal turn to Turkey Street! !

LlynTegid · 30/12/2024 17:08

As Turkey Street is now part of the Weaver Line, I hope I have the authority to make the next move. To Blackhorse Road.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 30/12/2024 19:28

As we've already passed through Turkey Street, it seems appropriate to make a longitudinal shunt to

Pudding Mill Lane

MyrtleStrumpet · 30/12/2024 23:30

And as His Majesty's New Year's Honours are imminent, I believe a transit to Kingsbury is in order.

HazelBite · 31/12/2024 07:53

May I transit to South Ruislip I don't think that move will put me in Nidd ?

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 31/12/2024 09:14

You are far too modest, Myrtle (or should I say Dame Myrtle)? Your ennoblement for services to the game of games is richly deserved and long overdue. Many congratulations.

Kings Cross

Seaside1234 · 31/12/2024 10:03

Always nice to see their Majesties enthusiasm for MC recognised in the Honours.

Seven Kings.

MyrtleStrumpet · 31/12/2024 12:40

<blushes>

I was sworn to secrecy so couldn't possibly comment, but it is humbling and of course, I am very grateful, particularly for the recognition of the game of games.

I'll move to my favourite station (excellent for my investiture at the palace)

St James's Park

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 31/12/2024 14:05

Your humility is most becoming, Myrtle, but I knew His Excellency had been dropping hints around the palace, and he was bound to succeed once he'd promised to help quell the rumours about the equerry, the reality tv star and the jar of marmalade.

Also convenient for the palace:

Green Park

Boredmum24 · 31/12/2024 14:12

A quick stop off at Bond street, ti acquire appropriate headgear for such an auspicious occasion

MyrtleStrumpet · 31/12/2024 14:43

Well he was very effective if you think that's what went on! The reality was much more delicious and besides, everyone knows I prefer raspberry jam.

I shall saunter along to the Elizabeth Line at Tottenham Court Road in honour of His Majesty's dear departed mother.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 31/12/2024 15:51

Oh, I hadn't realised you were involved, Myrtle. I thought your elevation to the peerage was simply His Excellency's quid pro quo for getting the equerry off the proverbial (or perhaps it was literal) hook.

Queensway

MyrtleStrumpet · 01/01/2025 01:08

Not a peerage. Yet...

There was much more going on than you are privy to, dear Gertrude, and one day when all our inhibitions have been strewn to the four winds, I will reveal all.

Queensbury

Happy New Year!

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 01/01/2025 11:17

Hmm. I'm concerned, dear Myrtle, that your propensity to reveal all may mean that you never ascend to the peerage. The palace has been quite understanding so far, but there must be limits.

Royal Victoria

MyrtleStrumpet · 02/01/2025 13:44

Your concern is verging on prying, Gertrude. Are you trying to meddle in my business at the Palace?

I think a trip to the most deprived area of London, where I volunteer at the food bank, is in order.

And if you'd bothered to read the short citation for my Damehood, you'll see it was for services to the poor of London.

Let's see how you like Dagenham East.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 03/01/2025 10:01

Harrumph.

Dagenham Heathway

LlynTegid · 03/01/2025 13:21

Upney.

No more need be said.

TragicMuse · 04/01/2025 12:21

I feel inexorably drawn to Fairlop. It's what the late, great, Graham Greene would have wanted...
