The chump has just put his 4.7 million pound house on the market. Isn't that mostly our money?

I agree with you, Geranium, I too find it obsessive. However there is no doubt that some people enjoy being outraged regularly. I don't, once is enough. In HW's case, it has been dealt with and he is finished. End of.

I find the fixation on wishing as much ill as possible on individual perpetrators (and their employers in this case) unhealthy and frankly rather macabre.

I haven’t given HE much thought at all since he was sentenced - which is a while ago now. There are much bigger questions around the scale of the problem, how we go about addressing it, appropriate sentencing and so on.

Society should be pushing for prevention and supporting victims, not obsessing over fantasy extra-judicial punishment of high-profile offenders in this way. And I think the idea that I, in my role as a license payer, am owed something over this particular case is both ridiculous and distasteful.

Very well said. This type of thinking is akin to those who thought loudly banging saucepans on their doorsteps during lockdown was somehow helping the NHS.

AutumnalCosiness · 10/10/2024 09:00

Yep BBC's fault 🙄

Totallymessed · 10/10/2024 10:23

Just cancel your TV licence OP. Believe me, you can live perfectly happily without one.

Yes, but that is our money. We paid for that loon, and his pension. I get cross about the BBC and all their horrid wrongdoings. How do they dare charge us?

How do they dare charge us? You know you don’t have to pay it? So vote with your wallet and don’t give any money to a corrupt organisation that’s rotten to the core. Jobsagoodun.

letmego24 · 10/10/2024 10:28

I love the current trend of a lot of mumsnetters who feel paying tax to the government means they are paying everyone's salaries and so those in public services ( talking eg nhs now not Edwards) need to abandon our own judgement training and ethics and just do what mumsnetters say as we are apparently on their payroll and u see their leadership. lol

letmego24 · 10/10/2024 10:29

Under their leadership. lol

CoverMeInMarmalade · 10/10/2024 10:30

He earned the money legitimately.

My anger is not at that. It's at a BBC who has it enshrined in law that we must pay a TV tax to them and then use that money to overpay celebrities whilst turning a blind eye to their level of power and influence they are abusing.

FelixtheAardvark · 10/10/2024 10:31

So it's now illegal to sell houses if you have a conviction?
When did they pass that law?
You are spouting hogwash OP.🙄

Topseyt123 · 10/10/2024 10:35

It's money he earned whilst he was actually working, however shockingly he was behaving behind the scenes.

Don't forget he presumably has to share the proceeds with his wife, who produces Peston on ITV. She has done nothing wrong, made her contributions and is fully entitled to her share. It's her money too

Of course it isn't your money, or anyone else's. It's theirs.
