How many times a week do you go food shopping?

I probably go to the shops 4 times a week or every other day. I buy little and often but I’m sure I spend more that way. On the other hand, if I get a delivery and try to stock up I find I waste a lot as it’s only me and a teenager at home and it’s hard to plan too far in advance.

I’ve stopped myself shopping today and I am going to make do with what we have in the fridge and maybe I can save a bit if I do that regularly.

I was wondering if other people go to the shops as much as me?!

As above. Get a delivery once a week and
meal plan. Spare milk and bread in freezer. Boring but it works and much cheaper. Family of 4 inc teens. No waste. Night before delivery arrives involves a pasta dish with any random leftover veg!

Twice, usually once to Sainsbury's and once to Lidl. I make plans for what we are going to eat.

I now go most days. We were wasting so much food when I was trying to meal plan as plans changed or people (including me) no longer wanted what we'd agreed earlier in the week.
It just means we have to keep a tight control on making sure that stuff gets put into the freezer if not eaten. And it helps that we all like green soup and make it every weekend with whatever is left in the vegetable drawer.

Most days, I thought I would be the outlier but it seems to be more common than I thought.

I go for a coffee in the cafe then grab something for tea and whatever other bits we might need.

Just 1 big shop delivered every week. £100-£120 for 2 adults for every meal, toiletries, household stuff and booze.

One online delivery weekly.

I meal plan, and deliberately put anything that's likely to have a short shelf life at the beginning of the week. I also check best before dates when I unpack the shopping and freeze things or shuffle the meal plan around accordingly to make sure there's nothing going to go off. Similarly, if our plan change, I might shuffle things around or freeze portions. Soups are made out of any leftovers. I 'shop from the freezer' when meal planning, and base meal plans around what we already have in. We have an ongoing shopping list for anything we're getting close to running out of.

We eat better than most for far less than most people spend, and never run out of anything. It takes skill, time and plentiful freezer space though.
