Mine are.. a match being lit

A damp airing cupboard! Live in a new build and quite annoyed I can no longer breathe in the smell of a slightly damp but clean towel smell cupboard. Not sure people will understand from the explanation

The smell of those strong antibacterial wipes used to wipe over skin before a needle is inserted

My children's hair after waking up

2 part filler. Just hits me right at the back of the throat.

I could sniff the stuff all day.

smallsilvercloud · 06/10/2024 16:49

Wax strips or even better warm wax for hair removal

AmeliaEarache · 06/10/2024 16:55

Hot buttered toast smells good. Onions sweated down in butter. A tomato picked fresh from the plant, it’s a very distinctive smell.

Obviously the ones everyone loves like babies and petrichor and line-dried sheets.

quirkychick · 06/10/2024 16:57

Yes, tomato plants have a v distinctive "green" smell.

BobbyBiscuits · 06/10/2024 17:02

Tarmac being freshly laid
Petrol
Cannabis
Really strong frying of garlic/onions
The damp smell of camping gear when it's been used
The smell of the canteen on a ferry, mixed with the perfume smell of duty free also on the ferry!

hanali · 06/10/2024 17:05

The smell of rain on tarmac, petrol, and toilet duck pine.

GroovyChick87 · 06/10/2024 17:06

The train station in my city centre. I don't know exactly what it is. Kind of damp, bleach, earthy. Love it.

Soitis83 · 06/10/2024 17:07

Mines so gross, the smell of my newborn's poops 😭

FifiFalafel · 06/10/2024 17:07

The smell inside a tent at nightfall.
Cif floor cleaner - I'd wear it as scent.

This reminds me that I like the smell of newborn baby sick. It's so milky/ caramely and reminds me of their sweet breath.

Dearg · 06/10/2024 17:14

The smell of old cars turning over - the petrol, exhaust mixed with a bit of oil leakage.
My Labradors when they wake up from a cosy snooze
Fenugreek

BibbityBobbityToo · 06/10/2024 17:20

Bleach
Over-heating car brakes/clutch
Car garages/workshops
Matches
Cigars
Cigar factories
Dental floss factory (Imagine mint and multiple it by a million until your eyes water!)

Shodan · 06/10/2024 17:20

Coal cellars.

And the smell of my cats' tummies after they've been curled up sleeping. It's sort of biscuity.

YY to just-struck matches too. And petrol, although obviously not in conjunction with each other...

Xyz1234567 · 06/10/2024 17:25

The smell of coal fire smoke billowing from chimneys in winter. Reminds me of walking home from school in the cold, damp and dark. I loved looking in through people's windows at their cosy living rooms and finally making it to my house; cuddles with the cat, dinner smells coming from the kitchen and Grange Hill on the telly. Those were the days!

maddiemookins16mum · 06/10/2024 17:25

I can't think of one but just wanted to comment that my cat's paws smell of cool Doritos.

FifiFalafel · 06/10/2024 17:28

Swarfega.
Oil.
Brylcream.
Old Spice.

(reminds me of my dad who was a car mechanic).

Sgtmajormummy · 06/10/2024 17:28

Pencil parings and sawdust
That greenhouse smell
The zinc oxide nappy cream I used on both DC. I now use it for chapped hands, for old time’s sake.

ScaryHouse · 06/10/2024 17:34

Not unusual maybe?
Christmas trees (real ones)
When candles have been blown out
Petrol
New books

midlifeattheoasis · 06/10/2024 17:36

Aubergine when placed directly on the flame of the gas hob
Clean washing when brought in from the cold
The 'cold' smell when you come back from a walk in the winter
When a room has been freshly plastered
The sort of burning smell of wood when its drilled (reminds me of woodwork at school)

honeylulu · 06/10/2024 17:38

Matches, yes!
Damp, yes (especially damp face flannels but we have a basement tv room that is tanked but also needs a dehumidifier and when we come back from holiday and it hasn't been on for a couple of weeks, I love to go down there and smell the damp. My daughter loves it too.)
The vaccination wipes, yes!
Also screenwash, petrol, creosote, nail polish and nail polish remover.

honeylulu · 06/10/2024 17:40

Other posters have mentioned newborn poo - yes, smells like cake mixture. Only while EBF, alas. Once any formula was added, just smelt like normal crap 💩

faffadoodledo · 06/10/2024 17:42

I'm a real outdoorsy person. But the smell I love above all others is the laundry detergent aisle! Bizarre

PinkSkiesAtNight · 06/10/2024 17:44

Petrol
Marijuana (I don't like smoking it, just the smell when I walk past someone who has it)

My partner's armpits!
He NEVER smells sweaty, I don't know how he does it, but it's a mix of his warm, natural body smell, roll up cigarette smoke and his aftershave. He thinks I'm weird, but I love tucking my head in his armpit at night.

PinkSkiesAtNight · 06/10/2024 17:44

Yes to newborn breastfed poo! That slightly sweet smell!

GroovyChick87 · 06/10/2024 17:49
