What cars are big SUVs?

But still 5 seaters?

I have 2 DC, 7 and 2. Won't be having more. There really is no room in our current car.

Currently driving a Peugeot 3008 SUV but it's just so small!

Can anyone recommend something very spacious whilst still remaining a 5 seater? Don't fancy having to get a 7 seater because a lot of the time, the extra 2 seats are tiny and I just want a flat and simple boot space

It's a 2023 model.

Budget for new car is £30k max as a buy outright price range

Skoda Kodiaq.
Comes as a 5 seater or 7 seater.
Very spacious boot.

We went from a 7 seat people carrier to a 5 seat suv and found most are really quite small. Ended up with a VW Tiguan and it’s great. The Skodas look good too. Audi Q5 and Volvo xc60 looked possible but I couldn’t justify an extra £7k with lower spec compared to the top spec Tiguan.

I've seen this spoken about loads! Seems they're really wide and spacious

I can't believe the Peugeot 3008 is even considered an SUV! It's tiny.

Audi Q5 or Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Porsche maccan, Landrover disco 4 (5 seater) Landrover defender.

ShiteRider · 05/10/2024 23:52

We have a q5 id say it’s mid sized rather than large.

If I had the money I’d have a Volvo xc90

I really do like the look of the Volvo, they seem trustworthy

I like Land Rover types but see a lot said about them being in a garage more than out on the road!

I have a Land Rover and I love it - feels so safe and plenty of room.

That’s not my experience and mine is 8 years old.

Tiguan allspace. I have one & love it.

Poggishairtufts · 06/10/2024 00:17

Potentially more room in an estate rather than an SUV

MrsAvocet · 06/10/2024 00:17

I've got a Skoda Kodiaq and would recommend it.
It's bigger than I need now to be honest as my youngest has just left for University so I'm no longer transporting teenage boys plus sports kit, bikes etc all over the place. But it did the job well when I was regularly doing that and It's a good tow car too. I'll probably get the one a size down when I replace it, Karoq I think, or maybe the electric one that's a similar size. I love my Kodiaq though.

DoggoQuestions · 06/10/2024 00:19

Mitsubishi outlander. I love ours. Regularly have adults in the back seats comfortably and the boot fits everything for a week's camping without having to play Tetris!

JBJ · 06/10/2024 00:23

Peugeot Rifter are large. I've got a Partner, so the older version, and it's a 5 seater with a massive boot and loads of headroom (I use it as a micro camper throughout the summer, and there's enough space with the back seats out for a full length bed!).

This. I'm not sure what takes the room up in an SUV but we use a lot of hire cars at work.

Sometimes we ask for a big car which is inevitably a smaller SUV and they're a bit hopeless for carrying any sort of equipment compared with the estate pool cars we have.

What about something like a Skoda Octavia or Superb estate?

Whoknowswhatanymore · 06/10/2024 05:22

Volvo XC60 - love it!

FamilyAreEverything · 06/10/2024 06:31

If it’s boot space you’re after, you can’t go wrong with a Skoda Superb (estate or hatchback). Plus the cabin is big too.

CMOTDibbler · 06/10/2024 06:38

I have a 2020 Landrover Defender and the only thing that it has been to the garage for is a broken windscreen. I love it, but I do cart round a huge amount of sports equipment, tow things etc. It really has room for tall adults in the back with a tall driver which was important to us (6'5 son and the same for his sports team mates)
A few cars ago we had a Skoda Superb and the boot space and rear seat legroom was incredible

Ineffable23 · 06/10/2024 06:41

Toyota Avensis is another estate car that's got a massive boot and plenty of room in the back as well.

countrygirl99 · 06/10/2024 06:44

When I didn't need something to tow a horse trailer anymore we changed to a Skoda estate because the boot is so much better.

doodleschnoodle · 06/10/2024 06:49

Love our Kodiaq. Boot is giant with rear row not in use but super handy to have the option for extra seats too. We have a dog crate in boot and still loads of room. Comes with roof bars and is nice to drive.

36and3 · 06/10/2024 06:56

Love our Q7

A used Kia Sorrento? 7 yr warranty removes a lot of the usual worries about buying second hand. Excellent spec for the money and huge boot space.

Don’t buy a model (of any brand) that has the capacity to have 7 seats but only has 5 unless it is exceptionally cheap - it’ll only be more difficult to sell.

Landrovers do feel safe and indeed are marvellous when they are working. However, many times they are not (and I say this as someone who has had many over the years). There is no rhyme or reason or model as to which one will go wrong but when they do, it is an expensive and frustrating nightmare.

The new Chinese brands coming to the UK (BYD, Omoda) are worth a look - they have long warranties, great specs and are cheap to run (assuming you have access to your own charger).
