Vinted - why would someone do this?

Just bought a skirt from Vinted, listed as 'very good' condition but when it arrived it was very badly stained and had a couple of small holes, not mentioned.

I raised a concern and without replying the seller accepted the complaint so I have a full refund.

Obviously that's great for me but I don't get why anyone would go to the trouble of packing up and sending off a rubbish item and then just accepting no money for it. What's the point?

Also what's incredibly annoying is the silly offers. I've just taken something off and put it on eBay. I was listing a brand new coat with tags and was getting silly offers way below asking price, and it was already a bargain. The coat is £65 new and I was asking for £30. Kept getting offers for £20.
Plus vinted have now made everyone use Royal Mail as an option to post. Have a look, you can't switch the toggle off. I'm slowly moving back to eBay.

Just checked Vinted postage! Absolutely shocking. How can they make post office be an option?!

MissyPants · 05/10/2024 12:19

@Newtrix I don't know. What if someone doesn't live near a post office? I've seen too many scams happen with vinted using Royal Mail, EBay fine, but not vinted. They don't accept the tracking to show it's arrived, as it's an external provider. You're only really protected with Yodel & Evri, not sure about the other options as I chose not to have those as an option.

I've always only had mine set up to Evri for tracking and ease. This really puts me off using vinted. Hopefully the fact it's so pricey will put people off 🤞

How many time would you need to ejaculate to fill a bottle with jizz?

Apparently anywhere between 20 and 66.

Olaplex treatment is 100ml, normal avg ejaculate volume range is 1.5-5ml.

Urban myth territory.

tumtam · 05/10/2024 12:43

Surely replacing the Olaplex with cheap condition from Lidl would make more sense? (Which I'm sure there are sellers on vinted who do that!)

Most sellers are fab and I've bought (& sold) a lot on Vinted). I did buy a skirt that had many pulls in it (satin material) & was frayed at the waistband. It was listed as good. Luckily I got a refund. I think 9/10 people are genuine..

It's free?

It’s not free to dispose of a broken washing machine!

Okay so I can imagine that if I encountered laboriously produced counterfeit Olaplex, I would be able to tell it wasn’t right in some way.

I cannot imagine that I would be capable of identifying it as jizz though? I mean, I have a reasonable track record of interactions with jizz in normal sex ways but I don’t think I would be like <squeezes unexpected jizz out of Olaplex bottle> ‘hey, I know what this is!’

editing to add my actual question which is: what was the giveaway? consistency? … odour? 😩

Edited

I wondered this!!

Tbf olaplex does have a similar consistency..... so not sure I'd realise 😂

I’ve had blackmail buyers asking for a refund for bnwt shoes and similar or they’ll ‘leave bad feedback’.

I say go ahead, they don’t.

A list of scammy types on Reddit would help, cos I suspect it’s much shorter than you think.

I have generally had a good experience using vinted, and bought things that were practically brand new for a very good price. But there were a couple of situations that made me thing about not bothering again. Things marked as very good when they weren't. I never understood why sellers don't add photos of all marks, stains, holes etc and then describe and price accordingly. Both times I ended up getting a refund and the sellers didn't request the items back. What was the point for them? If they had described it accurately and priced accordingly they probably would have sold it anyway and made some money. Sometimes it's not about wanting a refund but thinking you have overpaid for something because the description was misleading.
