Good Morning from the train to Newcastle this morning 🚄. It's looking like a beautiful day out there 🌞

I've hung some washing, fed and played with the kittens, put a load on a timer, and had a quick tidy round this morning.

I'm off with dd1 to the uni open day today, with a late ish train booked home so we have some time in the city too. I'm hoping to find a market

Dd2's still asleep atm but her dad's taking her for dinner at a local pizza and burger restaurant later on, and she has plans to do some of her homework.

When we get in, it'll be a cuppa & bed for me 💤

What about all of you? 🌞

I was up early playing with the dog and getting ready to take my youngest to swimming. I watched the latest MAFSUK episode with a coffee, put a wash on, and showered. I want to tidy up the garden a bit this afternoon, help with homework, and do some house tasks.

sunsetsandboardwalks · 28/09/2024 10:28

I slept in until 8.30, sorted the animals out, ran the vacuum round, took a coffee back to bed for a bit, then got up for an "everything shower" and now I'm watching Hoarders and sorting my hair.

Today is my first day off all month so I'm planning to do absolutely nothing 😂

JMAngel1 · 28/09/2024 10:36

Good morning everyone.
Gorgeous sunny day here - got up and tidied around as DD1 had a sleepover last night with 4 friends and downstairs was carnage this morning! They’re all fast asleep - I had to get up at 4.15am to tell them to go up to bed as they were practically having a club night in the living room!! Didn’t help that I’d been out myself last night for a lovely dinner with friends so I was very bleary eyes going down to tell them to be quiet.

Now having a cappucino
in the conservatory reading my magazine subscription that just arrived - bliss.
Will take DD2 to visit Grandad at lunchtime and then take her to a football match.
Then home (hopefully all the teens will have left!) for pizza, glass of Malbec and a film. Early to bed as am working tomorrow - a 32 hour shift which I’m trying not to think about 😱).

HundredMilesAnHour · 28/09/2024 10:47

Gosh everyone is up much earlier than me today! It's been quite a week at work and I'm exhausted so didn't get up until 9am. I've since spoken at length to my Dad, cooked breakfast (eggs) and made coffee (beans weighed and ground to order, milk steamed with a thermometer, lots of faffing etc). Now contemplating a face mask before I shower and wondering what to wear today. I'm heading into the West End (London) at lunchtime to a Diptyque private sale (invite only) and then on to my fabulous hairdresser to have a cut and highlights. Quiet evening planned for tonight (bliss!).

Tomorrow I'm meeting one of my closest friends and I'm dragging her to the Shaun Leane sample sale (shopping seems to be a theme this weekend!) and then we'll head over to Battersea Power Station for lunch and a mooch around and a proper catch up. By which time I will be broke (probably) and will have a quiet Sun eve on the sofa getting ready for a super-stressful (and early start) work day on Mon.

Happy that the sun is shining right now as I feel very relaxed (mainly due to ignoring the fact that I need to go food shopping but can't be bothered).

FlorencenotRatchet · 28/09/2024 10:51

Morning @lucysmam and all happy Saturday.
Just back from Parkrun. Homemade smashed avocado on toast.
Lots of washing to get through today but otherwise I'm looking forward to a relaxing day. Looking forward to starting my new book today and will watch strictly later. Im doing Halloumi wraps for dinner with a Greek salad.
Enjoy your day everyone

This sounds like such a lovely weekend. Have a fab time - Diptyque is heaven.

Good morning @lucysmam & the Saturday gang. Clock watching as I start work at 12 but managed to have a bit of a lie in as used earplugs (DD15 is not exactly quiet on the phone to her GF!) Unloaded/loaded the dishwasher & contemplating hanging out a load of washing. Beautiful sunny day here in Cornwall although there’s definitely an Autumnal nip in the air. Gave 2 of the bunnies some of their favourite kale plus a chunk of carrot each. DH will swap them over later so the other 2 will get their treats then. He’s out buying hay & straw plus popping to Tescos. Tea is sorted as we’re having salt & pepper chicken strips straight from the freezer with special fried rice. Thanks Iceland! I might do a couple of prawn toasts as a starter for me. Watching The Voice tonight & I want to catch up on Strictly, particularly the blind guy’s first dance.

RabbitsRock · 28/09/2024 11:05

JMAngel1 wow 32 hours! I wish you luck! 🍀

almondflake · 28/09/2024 11:09

Getting my spare rooms ready for my daughter and granddaughter who are moving in with me for a few months , ❤️

sunsetsandboardwalks · 28/09/2024 11:09

@JMAngel1 what do you do where you work such long shifts?!

Arraminta · 28/09/2024 11:13

Very lazy start to the day here. Just about to have a pamper shower with hair masque and body scrub. DH and I will go out for a pub lunch then I will pop into town to choose a colour to paint my dressing table chair, torn between a sage green and a muted plum colour?

Tonight will be quiet, keeping an eye on Strictly while doing my new jigsaw - it's from Art & Fable and the detail and quality is so beautiful.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 28/09/2024 11:16

chisanunian · 28/09/2024 11:17

I've been to buy a new winter duvet this morning, it is getting colder now and we do have a couple in the loft but they are quite a few years old now so we decided to treat ourselves. The old ones will be going to the dump when we can get there. At the moment we can't, due to local flooding.

Talking of flooding, I've seen some sights on my travels this morning!

The rest of the day is going to involve decluttering the kitchen I think. The cupboards and drawers have got into a bit of a state and really need emptying out and reorganising. The washing machine will be on duty all day as well.

We are having kippers for tea. It's been a while since we had those, and DH bought them so he is cooking - not that kippers need much in the way of culinary skills.😁

TheTempest · 28/09/2024 11:21

DH is asleep as he was on a night shift last night. DD(15) is at her friends house as she had a sleepover last night. Lodger 1 is pottering, lodger 2 is at work. I’m waiting for my bestie to come round and help me put some pictures up in the living room of the new house. Been out with 2 of the dogs this morning and have a man here repointing the wall. I need to do some housework but really can’t be bothered. Sounds like there’s lots of lovely days happening today ❤️

PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance · 28/09/2024 11:39

Morning everyone.
Thought I'd have a lie because the cat slept on my bed all night and didn't pester to go out at 4 am.. but a bad migraine woke me at 6am.. so l let him out and crawled back into bed.
Just had brunch of boiled egg ..tomatoes and Mushrooms ( on mounjaro).
I've parceled some items to post ( selling my now too big clothes on vinted).. I'm not doing any cleaning because the workmen will be back here next week finishing off the wooden flooring downstairs and hanging my new doors... it's all dusty.. but I'm getting my cleaner in for a deep clean when it's finished.
I've some new curtains for the living room to take up.. so might get into my sewing room.
Sharing a Chinese takeaway with sister tonight and will catch up with Sherwood.
Tomorrow it's a drive to the lake district to visit eldest sister and brother in law for dinner.. then a game of cards

DilemmaDelilah · 28/09/2024 11:47

Good morning @lucysmam . It sounds like you have another really busy weekend planned!

I didn't get to sleep until after 3am this morning, and was awake again at 6.15am, so I'm very tired this morning. DH brought me a lovely bacon sandwich and a cup of tea for breakfast and I've been doing my online grocery shopping, looking for some leggings etc. while lazing in bed, until about an hour ago. I prepared all the fruit for my hedgerow jelly yesterday and boiled it up, I have it straining through a jelly bag now and I will boil it up again with sugar tomorrow before putting it in jars. I should have enough to last a whole year!

One of my work colleagues brought me a carrier bagful of beautiful bramley apples yesterday evening, so I will prepare those and stew them this afternoon before freezing the stewed apples in batches. We have been lucky enough to be given apples by several people this year so I think we will have enough in the freezer to have apple crumble every couple of weeks throughout the colder months, and a lot of apple sauce to go with roast pork.

Other than that, and the usual laundry, the only other thing I have planned this weekend is to pick my chorister grandson up from the cathedral after evensong tomorrow. I really am very tired indeed most of the time, a side effect of my medication, so my weekends tend to be very unexciting. I will need to make said chorister grandson's birthday cake during the week, ready for his birthday tea on Friday evening.

Funkyslippers · 28/09/2024 12:13

Up early as have to work but managed to sort out dd1's insurance on her car which is 1 less thing to worry about! She's home from uni in 11 days & we collect her car then, I'm probably more excited than her! Anyway don't want to go into too much detail but my job involves working in the community with vulnerable people. It's very rarely boring and today is no exception!

mechanicalpencil · 28/09/2024 12:20

Exhausted after a tough week at work and starting the second year of an intensive course. DH brought me a full pot of tea this morning in bed and am just having a quiet, slow day of reading, planning, laundry.
Chilli con carne with steamed rice later, a home spa bath and some gentle stretching for my sore neck and shoulders.

Some lovely Saturdays today from everyone! Happy autumn 🍂

ShipshapeShore · 28/09/2024 12:23

Having a bit of a clean round to start then we're walking to town to look at the Halloween bits and bobs. I'm going to get a Costa and sit in the park while the girls play, that should be nice as there are lots of changing trees around. Plus I might see one of the town peregrines if I'm lucky!
Dinner is lasagne - I've made the Bolognese and bought a jar of white sauce so it's just assemble and bake!
Have a lovely cosy day everyone!

mamaduckbone · 28/09/2024 12:27

Have a great day @lucysmam - I loved doing the open days with ds1.
It's actually sunny here for the first time all week so Dh and I went for an early walk and coffee in town.
I'm about to tackle ds1's bedroom - we moved him out to uni last weekend and it needs a good clean and the bed stripping.
Later, we're going to the rugby club to watch a first team match with ds2 and his gf is then coming over for dinner. He has it in his head we don't like her so we're making an effort.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 28/09/2024 12:41

Good early afternoon as I write this!
A sunny morning earlier, a lovely dog walk first thing but a bit nippy. It’s looking like a dry day so three loads of washing on the line and another just finishing. I have put away yesterday’s washing, there’s a few bits to iron probably tomorrow morning while DH is walking the dog.
There’s homemade roasted tomato and basil soup in my soup maker (never used it and I have had it for ~6 years?), so easy and delicious, with grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner 😋😋
Dh has put a little shelf up in my summerhouse, I have a heater down there and I am all set up to do my needlework or just sit and read. I do need to order blinds sometime.
Nothing else planned for the weekend, will see how it goes 😊

mechanicalpencil · 28/09/2024 13:09

@CoffeandTiaMaria
the summerhouse sounds lovely ☺️

Anjo2011 · 28/09/2024 14:08

Hi all, a lovely sunny day here so I have a couple of loads of washing on the line. DD1 is at her Saturday job and DD2 isn’t feeling great so is having a chilled day. DH and I have had a sort of the garage so we can put our patio furniture away for the winter. He has been to the tip and now we just have a few bags for the charity shop, lots of jigsaws in particular! Tonight we will have a curry and watch Strictly.

lucysmam · 28/09/2024 14:18

@gingercat02 is there a market? We're just about to eat at Nando's at Eldon Sq shopping centre but could be persuaded to wander & hunt down something else.
