What's your weirdest habit?

Just starting this thread for a bit of fun—I’ve got this weird habit of chatting to my plants as if they’re listening. Anyone else got any quirky habits?

Leaving a mouthful of food; old manners. Except some would take it as a compliment and good manners, ie the cook has satisfied you, or bad manners; you didn't like the food. Same goes for clearing your plate; you loved the food and are satisfied, or bad manners; you weren't given enough!

When I write my to do list, I add a couple of things I've already done so I can cross them off and feel better about myself.

Oh god I do this too! So satisfying to start.

Always have to have fresh water to boil in the kettle, every time.

Volume numbers on every device have to be even.

Have to be the last one out of the house after saying "bye, won't be long, love you" and kissing the dogs and then firmly shutting front door and double checking it's closed myself.

Dishwasher must be stacked my way, no one else can do it right.

I have to fill the kettle every night before bed. Not that weird really, just a habit

And also I put the coffee and sugar in the mugs ready for morning. I can't settle in bed if I haven't done it.

My Dad always did that 'just in case the water went off during the night'. Don't think it ever did but does make sense

spikeandbuffy · 25/09/2024 00:33

I fill the kettle before bed after one morning when I woke up and there was no water. So no cup of tea
Fuming Grin i run off tea!
At least if it happens again I will have a kettle full of water for face, teeth and tea!

Also blow my nose when I go to the toilet

Awishcometrue · 25/09/2024 00:37

Outwiththenorm · 23/09/2024 19:56

I blow my nose every time I go to the toilet. I don’t know when it started but now I think my nose actually starts to run when I enter a bathroom. I think it came from wanting to multitask after having DC - ‘what else can I do while I’m just sitting here?’ DH pointed this habit out to me and I’m trying to break it 😐

I DO THIS TOO!! As soon as I sit on the throne 😂

OKherewegoagain · 23/09/2024 20:50

My tv volume can only end in a 0 or a 5 Confused

My tv volume can't have 13 in it!

Paisleydad · 23/09/2024 22:24

Yes. You're right.

Relieved to be normal. 🤣

But, hot water is the exception, right? 🤞

planAplanB · 24/09/2024 00:06

What a waste of money and energy

The thread is about what weird things one does, not, Hop on and criticize people. 🤦‍♀️

FoxtrotOscarKindaDay · 23/09/2024 23:18

I set multiple alarms at various odd numbered intervals in case I sleep in. I can't remember the last time I missed an alarm and I'm usually awake before 6am anyway.

Five for me, three if I feel like living on the edge. 😂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/09/2024 01:04

Theextraordinaryisinntheordinary · 24/09/2024 23:14

Also, when I switch the light off for the kids I pull a stupid face or do a karate kick or something daft so it’s the last thing they remember before falling asleep. It makes them laugh but they often make me switch it back on to see my “normal” face.

You sound like an awesome mum! 🩷

Cocothecoconut · 24/09/2024 22:37

I pat my car after I've parked it and tell it to stay put

@Cocothecoconut

me too. I always thank her, say good night or whatever & tell her when I think we'll be going out next or when I think I'll be back 🙇🏻‍♀️

@mumbunz24

I talk to everything in the house & the house! It's what comes of living alone I think!!

I too count stairs!

I think I'm fully cracked!

MaMisled · 25/09/2024 01:27

When on my own at home I pretend I'm being interviewed on the radio. I talk out loud, a different subject each time, so my health, motherhood, my relationships, TV programmes, books etc. So therapeutic.

NQOCDarling · 25/09/2024 01:36

I have to be fully dressed before I flush the lav (i.e knickers back up, trousers zipped, etc) in case the toilet monster gets me

coxesorangepippin · 25/09/2024 02:10

I blow on cold food

Syncwave · 25/09/2024 03:16

i usually talk to myself obviously when i presume its myself, i guess as talking therapy it saves ££ from having a psychologist to talk to

Dazedandconfusedma · 25/09/2024 03:36

If I’m at home alone and going upstairs, I punch ahead and kick behind me as I’m going so if anyone comes at me, I’ll get them first. This started when I was a child and our tv was downstairs in the scary basement, now I just find it fun.

Paisleydad · 25/09/2024 03:37

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/09/2024 00:56

No. Drinking hot water would be a weird habit.

Minimili · 25/09/2024 03:44

I must be very strange because I do most of these things 😆.

I’ve never done the dinosaur creeping but just tried it and agree it was very enjoyable!

Minimili · 25/09/2024 03:45

Nottactile · 24/09/2024 23:04

Figures like little clay men (like Morph) control my dreams so if I am having a nightmare they distort my dream if I am having a good dream they leave it alone.

This started in childhood. I talk to them (silently) before I go to sleep when I am planning out my dream for the night.

They wake me up when I need a wee too 🤣

Edited

This has to be the weirdest… tell us more 🤔

😳 is it????

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 25/09/2024 05:03

I don't understand the Dinosaur 'creeping' thing - do you wander around with upper arms clamped to sides with forearms up to mimic a TRex? Truncated arms would make a lot of housework difficult however, I doubt couldn't manage doorknobs so that's one worry out of the way - if kids are scared of marauding dinosaurs - as long as ensure all doors upstairs are shut. I imagine most of the herbivores wouldn't have been able to silently go about their day - given size and continuous chomping plus I'm sure a Triceatops or similar would get horns stuck in loft access.
