Saturday afternoons

What do you do on a Saturday afternoon if you're in your 50s, older kids (so no running kids about).

I've spent today reading the papers and doing a tiny bit of housework and half watching some TV but it just seems so boring!

Those all sound lovely! Mine was nice but I feel I should be doing "stuff" not sitting about!

Its an adjustment when you've spent 10 years say, running about after kids, family activities and so on.
It does seem to change almost overnight I found.
I've found home or garden based projects to be the answer.
But I've also rediscovered my ability to sit about and do very little!

If the weather had been better I would have been in the garden pottering! I've to work the next two Saturdays so that's them occupied!!

I always have a long gym session on a Saturday morning so by the time I'm home, showered, hair washed and eaten, it's time to get ready to go out for drinks. We tend to go out at 4pm these days so we can be home with a takeaway by 10.30 😋

Long coastal dog walk followed by fish n chips, it was a lovely sunny day. Saturdays do normally include a dog walk and food, either just us or with adult kids and friends

That sounds like nap territory to me 🤣

I feel I need a hobby for Saturdays! DH looks after his mother at weekends to give his dad a break (Alzheimers) so I'm on my own.

Yesterday I did a bit of cleaning and laundry, went to the farmers' market, made soup, read my book and indulged in my guilty pleasure of 4 in a bed (the TV prog, not swinging).

I do have a very busy week but feel a bit guilty at the lack of productiveness on Saturdays. Sunday is spent visiting relatives and catching up on work.

I've found my people! In autumn l love nothing more than pottering at home/napping/walking (unless raining!)/cosy tv on the sofa if grey and dull outside/baking/long baths/making my home look nice.

My friend cannot bear to spend 10 minutes at home when DD are not there . She is constantly wanting to do something/ anything and Has her weekends mapped out several weeks in advance with anyone who is around/available/free. Think shopping days 8am - 5pm type of thing plus an expectation to also do an evening thing too. She once made a Sunday shopping trip last until 7pm. It's too much for me and I get anxiety just thinking about shopping or doing anything for that long.

I sorted out my floor-drobe and put everything away while listening to an audiobook.
