I'm just about to finish my first cuppa of the day. The washer's on already, the load I put on a timer's ready to go out, & I've woken dd1 who has work - she had alarms set but must have gone back to sleep 🙄

Dd's just in the shower. It's a race day so she's working til the last race & will be knackered when she's finished.

I'm off to town with dd2 who needs some sort of trousers to wear. She has a pair of black flares she likes to wear allll the time but we can't find them 🤷‍♀️

I'll tidy round the kitchen, pop another wash on, and put away yesterday's washing before we head out. I might look for some work trousers too while we're out.

This evening, I'm off to a friends house for drinks & a catch up. She's doing roast chicken baguettes for tea & I'll probably pick up a couple of bottles of Koppaberg or similar to drink.

Not sure what they'll have here, probably something easy.

I'll be in for a brew & bed by ten 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all. Not long up. Sitting with a cup of tea and a bacon sarnie. Late for me, but my elderly dog had a toileting accident in the house at silly o'clock this morning, poor thing. So slept a bit later.

Been such a busy week at work, I'm looking forward to hibernating this weekend Grin

Take the senior out for a walk then scrub the house top to bottom. I also have my own Mount Washmore like pp (love that!) So I'll tackle that, and then just chill for the rest of the day

Have a good one everyone x Flowers

Giggorata · 14/09/2024 09:45

Good morning lucysmam and all,
Just finished writing up my dream and about to have tea. I can hear DH is back from walking dogs and putting the kettle on.

Laundry and other chores this morning.

i am conducting a wedding later today, so wondering whether to continue with no tights and summer shoes or to embrace autumn.

Later this afternoon, I will finish doing up one of those unfinished wood small chest of drawers from Ikea with some relief embellishments and then paint it the same colour as the bookshelf it sits on, so it doesn't stick out too much.

Not much planned for this evening, as the event we were going to has been cancelled. I honestly don't mind, as we will enjoy a cosy evening in, with fire, candles and dozy dogs just as much.
DH is doing dinner, so I don't know what it will be.

mamaduckbone · 14/09/2024 09:53

Good morning @lucysmam and all!
I've been for my run and I'm enjoying sitting in the garden with a coffee - Dh is working and the teens are still in bed so all is quiet here.

I've got washing to hang out and a bit of tidying to do but then really fancy a wander into town this morning - might treat myself to an almond croissant and a coffee out.

I'm taking ds1 to see my mum this afternoon when he finishes work, as we're delivering him to Uni next Friday so it'll be the last time he sees her for a while. Ds2 might come too, but he also needs to make a start on revision for his mocks...or at least pretend to. He's also got homework to get on with.

Dh and I may go for a drink tonight if he's not too knackered after work, but a quiet one otherwise.

frozendaisy · 14/09/2024 10:02

On my way to swan around art galleries, drink tea and catch up with with a friend.

Sin is shining, house left spotless, teens, teens's friends amd dad can fend for themselves today.

FirstTimeHomeowner · 14/09/2024 10:11

Morning all!

@lucysmam glad to hear it's not just our house where clothes can disappear off the face of the earth 🫠

I'm currently in bed with DS(5) downstairs watching shorts on Disney+ on repeat. Did not realise how much I'd appreciate getting to the age where he's content to grab a banana and a granola bar and plant himself in front of the TV on the weekends for as long as he can. It's bliss!

Will get up shortly and get both of us ready before going out for brunch with some friends at a local cafe, then probably head to a playground or maybe the zoo to run off some energy :)

This evening I think I'll cook a lasagna, and then snuggle up with DS for another Disney movie. He's always disliked animation movies, much to my horror 😂 but has started warming up to them lately so I'm trying to introduce him to all my favourites!

OneLilacEagle · 14/09/2024 10:12

Reading this thread is part of my weekend ritual but I've never posted. I'm trying to shake myself out of a perimenopausal slump so posting as part of a 'do new things' effort! Pretty dreich here but peaceful as dh and ds are away to a rugby tournament. Finishing my coffee then I'll do some yoga and call my mum. Hopefully, I'll get out for a walk later. Then some cross stitch with only murders in the building. No idea what we'll have for dinner but I think I'll have a greens/ rice/ chilli oil thing for lunch. A quiet day but dh has just got a new job. It's a big change and there's lots of logistics to sort so quiet is a good thing!

ssd · 14/09/2024 10:14

Morning @lucysmam and everyone here.
The weather is miserable here today. And the football is on. Ugh.
Am still in bed. The washing basket is full to overflowing so that needs tackled.
Nice to read others stories here.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 14/09/2024 10:21

Good morning Lucysmam and others. It's dreich here too OneLilacEagle. I have had toast and coffee earlier, stripped the bed and did a sheets and white wash which is now in the tumble dryer. I have been to Aldi and stocked up for dgs mainly as they can both eat for Scotland. I've just finished a lime curd bun and a cuppa and I'll do some waving a duster about. Dgs1 is coming at lunchtime for a sleepover, so I have bought extra stuff just for him. He will have proper hot chocolate and popcorn tonight. My daughter has set the bar high for that! Enjoy your day all

Whattheduck · 14/09/2024 10:23

Dropped my Dd for her 1st year at university yesterday so feeling a little lost today

Just having a coffee and watching Emmerdale whilst waiting for Dh to get up then we are going to do a food shop
Going to tackle Dd’s bedroom over the weekend and give it a good clean I’ve got her a new duvet, pillows and bedding for when she comes home for the weekend at the end of the month (it’s my Db’s 50th birthday) so going to get it ready
Will take the dog out at some point
No plans for later probably just watch tv

JingsMahBucket · 14/09/2024 10:31

@yesornothatisthequestion Definitely go to a restaurant. It’s currently oyster season so there will be a lot of good specimens around good deals too, especially for happy hour. I’d tell your server it’s your and your son’s first time and want some help. People will be glad to show you how to eat them.

I tend to prefer brinier (saltier) oysters. When I first started eating them, I would put the diced shallot and vinegar on there to somewhat “mask” the experience but turns out I loved it! If I get a dozen, I tend to do several variations of garnishes:

Plain so I can taste the actual freshness and real taste

With a squeeze of lemon

Squeeze of lemon and a bit of Tabasco sauce

Minced shallots and vinegar topping (that’s called mignonette)

Mignonette and Tabasco

And when I’m feeling crazy like, lemon, mignonette, and Tabasco!

I’d suggest getting half a dozen between the two of you to start then go from there if you get hooked. 🙂

JingsMahBucket · 14/09/2024 10:36

@yesornothatisthequestion see my oyster loving response above. I accidentally tagged @MoreIcedLattePlease !

Anjo2011 · 14/09/2024 10:41

Morning everyone. Dd1 dropped at work, DD2 at football practice. Just been to visit my parents and take their shopping. Popped home to get some washing on the line, DD2 returned last night from a camping trip with school and everything smells of bonfires. We have all had such a busy week, looking forward to a curry this evening and then watching Strictly. Tomorrow I plan to do very little apart from some chores. The sun is shining here so that’s a bonus. Have a good day.

Mintgum · 14/09/2024 10:42

I have no chores to do at all got out of bed at 9am going to do some reading to day.
And chill out.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 14/09/2024 10:44

Good morning everyone, I’ve been awake since 5a.m. 😵‍💫
So far I have walked the dog with a friend, had two cups of coffee, emptied the dw, hung out the washing, taken everything from the summerhouse that’s been cluttering up the living room for 5 months out onto the patio to put back in the summerhouse now it is actually finished and chatted to my neighbour over the fence.
I’m waiting for DH to get his stuff out of the summerhouse so I can spend a couple of hours titivating it to my liking 😍
I have absolutely no idea what’s for lunch or dinner, I will rummage in the freezer.
Have a lovely weekend everyone 🌻

mechanicalpencil · 14/09/2024 10:49

Happy Saturday everyone!
I’m still in bed, had a pot of tea and ordered some new autumnal dresses for work online 🍁. About to get up and get a wash on and clean the bedroom. Mostly cleaning today and will be making a giant chilli con carne later, enough for tonight and 2 other meals I hope.

Mintgum · 14/09/2024 10:57

Also nursing a migraine.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 14/09/2024 10:58

Morning all, I’ve spent the morning clearing out the fridge and cleaning the kitchen in preparation for the imminent weekly grocery delivery. The cat had a lie in so I’ve only just given him breakfast, DD is in the shower, she’s off out this afternoon and won’t be back until the early hours so I’ll have the house to myself. Picked up a slow cooked beef stew and some green veg in the yellow sticker section yesterday so that will be dinner tonight in front of Strictly. Until then I’ll be pottering about, doing a few chores and listening to some podcasts. Had a busy week at work so looking forward to some downtime.

mondaytosunday · 14/09/2024 11:17

Good morning!
I've had some tea, given the kitchen a quick tidy and given my very sick dog his meds - probably will have to put him to sleep this coming week - two vets have suggested it. He's 15 and has just gone downhill so fast and the vet thinks he has a cancerous growth in his head, he's lost 10% of weight in three weeks and struggles to stand in the morning. Poor thing. Will still go on short walks though.
My son is visiting and off to watch local footie team at 12. So about to go down have some breakfast with him.
His request is Hungarian Goulash for dinner - very easy (highly recommend the Waitrose recipe but treble the paprika) but long cooking time! Then a movie.
Daughter probably still asleep and will not make sn appearance till mid afternoon.
Sun is out - nice autumnal day!

FlorencenotRatchet · 14/09/2024 11:28

Morning @lucysmam and all happy Saturday.
I've been to Parkrun and then met my mum for coffee. Had the most delicious cherry and chocolate scone.
Sheets and towels are in the machine. Meeting a friend for lunch and later will be sorting my clothes as off on holiday next week. I've got two weeks off work so am looking forward to de stressing.
Enjoy your day everyone.

mum2jakie · 14/09/2024 11:31

Morning all. Had a very lazy morning despite being up since 8am. This thread is inspiring me to get sorted...

Bed stripped, washing on and a bag of unwanted clothing that I'll drop off to charity shop in a bit.

@mondaytosunday sorry to hear about your dog. You've reminded me to check in with my mum who had to have her dog pts earlier this week.

Crunchymum · 14/09/2024 11:43

Morning all.

Roast chicken baguettes sound amazing!!

We used to have a fresh rotisserie at our local supermarket so I'd grab a cooked chicken on the way home from work and make roast chicken sarnies for dinner. Divine!!! Not quite the same when I have to do all the hard work of cooking the chicken 😂(it was my go to easy dinner!)

We're just back from swimming and a run around the park.

I've got a few errands to run (post some packages, pay some money into the bank, pick up some birthday cards and gifts) so I'm waiting for DP to get home and he is going to take the kids on a bike ride after lunch. They'll stop for ice cream and another park - bribery to get them on the bike ride!!

Dinner later is homemade lasagne. I rarely bother as not everyone likes it (they all eat it but DC2 doesn't much like cheese). I just really fancied it. Older 2 can make the salad, they're at the age they love to "help".

Movie or Netflix later.

Judellie · 14/09/2024 11:47

Hi everyone
Had some kind of nightmare last night that I'd knocked over an iron, it went up in flames against the back of my legs and I was wearing tights - luckily I shouted out and dh spoke to me.
It seemed wiser to get up, after that, so I was up far sooner than usual for a weekend! Had a bath and washed my hair.
DH has gone with his friend to a model railway exhibition for the day. I have been to Tesco as just about no food left and got back to find the teens are still in bed. So put all the shopping away.
I've had an early lunch of rolls with butter and roule cheese and some coffee creams (Ringtons had some Christmas stuff yesterday and I love coffee creams).
I am about to finish my coffee, hang out the white wash I put on earlier and set the next one off, then this afternoon I'm visiting my aunty for an hour or so and I'll see if DD wants to go on a bike ride when I get back.
Otherwise I'll just be tidying up, house is a bit of a tip.
DS will probably want to go to town to the shops and DD has just got a part time job but isn't working this weekend so is wanting to get homewok done as she's working a few evernings next week.
Lovely to read what everyone's doing, hope you all have a good weekend x

gingercat02 · 14/09/2024 11:53

Morning @lucysmam
Proper lazy one here. Woke up at 7am, cancelled my dance class, and went back to sleep until 9:30. Just faffed about all morning. One load of washing on and DH is clearing up from his poker night last night.
I'm getting my hair done this afternoon and then out for food and drinks with friends later.
I hope tomorrow will be more productive.

TheDogsMother · 14/09/2024 12:22

Got off the ferry in St Malo this morning and are now about an hour from La Rochelle. Looking forward to a harbour side lunch 🦐 🐟

Tisfortired · 14/09/2024 12:27

DS2 was up at the crack of dawn this morning as he has a cold so I had put a wash on, cleaned the bathroom and got us all dressed and out the house by 8:30am. Went to Asda for some bits including various fruits for DS1 to fanny about making smoothies later.

We went to the park on the way home for a while, now DS2 is catching up with an afternoon nap whilst me and DS1 made cinnamon rolls which are currently cooling before being frosted.

I’m having a cup of tea and a sit down, hoping to frost the cinnamon rolls and have a tidy up before DS wakes.
