We spend around 25 pounds for 2 weeks from the butchers. Family of 5, 2 adults, one child, one toddler and one baby.

Zero I don't eat meat

Changeiscomingthisyear · 12/09/2024 21:51

I have no idea.
Latest Tesco order was £16.50 on fish and £8.60 on meat. Not all of that will be eaten this week there is some meat in the freezer I will also use.
2 adult (one eats fish but not meat) and 2 children who have school lunches.

I've never checked, we get a hamper from muslefood monthly which is 39.99 I think and today I got steak as it was in a deal at Ocado. I don't eat meat but my partner has two chicken breasts a day. (Omad)

CoastalCalm · 12/09/2024 21:52

We tend to pick up yellow stickers and freeze but at a guess £15 a week

MsLavender · 12/09/2024 21:52

About £5 on either a chicken, cheap steaks or bacon. Can't afford any more than that other than if you include Pepperoni pizza as "meat".

OtterOnAPlane · 12/09/2024 21:53

We usually have one or two meaty meals a week. So perhaps a fiver for chicken in a curry, or double+ that if it's steak night!

We very rarely buy processed meat for snacks/ lunches ect, which keeps cost down.

teatoast8 · 12/09/2024 21:54

Zero get it for free

teatoast8 · 12/09/2024 21:54

Wonder if all the peanut butter haters will post on a thread titled “how much peanut butter do you eat per week?”

It’s not compulsory to answer questions that are irrelevant to you. Lmao

Zero is a perfectly valid answer to the question how much do you spend.

GameOfJones · 12/09/2024 22:06

I would say £5 - £10 per week on average for a family of four but very often I don't buy any on a weekly shop. We don't eat a lot of meat and our main meals are usually vegetarian.

Sometimes we buy chorizo or parma ham, or a pack of bacon and then maybe some meat for a Sunday roast. Or once every couple of months DH and I will have steak and chips.

If I make a curry, fajitas, stir fry, pasta dish etc it is always vegetarian just because it's cheaper and quicker.

Thistooshallpass24 · 12/09/2024 22:07

How many times a week do you wonder if you're being a bit of a twat @NoSnowdrop ? I'm guessing the answer isn't zero

RosesAndHellebores · 12/09/2024 22:09

I have no idea but an average weekly meat supply is:
Chicken breasts, or lamb chops or steaks
Pack 5% Mince
Roast
Premium bacon

£40-£50?

Sarah2891 · 12/09/2024 22:11

Norhing. I never buy it.

Memba · 12/09/2024 22:16

Family of 4 inc two teenagers.

Average week approx £25
Whole chicken and/or breasts/thighs
2 packs mince (varies which meat - beef, lamb, pork)
Chorizo

Try to buy organic/free range.

Double that if we're having a Sunday roast.

We've phased our most ultra processed meats (bacon sausages, ham, salami etc) for health reasons but I do miss them!

ComtesseDeSpair · 12/09/2024 22:18

Depends. Probably on average about £100: more some weeks if we’re hosting, less others if we’re planning to be out a lot. Yours sounds like a very reasonably priced butcher: mine is £14 for a large chicken, unless being very sparing with meat you’d not feed a family for two weeks for £25.

Ohfuckrucksack · 12/09/2024 22:29

About £30 a week - 5 adults or near adults

If it includes fish/seafood it could be more like £40

Chicken - mostly chicken breasts but also thighs drumsticks, whole chickens
Pork shoulder for pulled pork
Pork/beef mince
Sausages, Bacon
Ham, salami, chorizo

Fish - salmon, cod, prawns, squid

Sgtmajormummy · 12/09/2024 22:55

€27. I’ve just done my weekly shop for three adults.
That includes a turkey breast (curry, breaded and in a paella) and two nice steaks.
Then some sandwich ham and bacon bits for carbonara.
Frozen prawns and mussels for the paella.

Eggs and dairy not included.

Arafon · 12/09/2024 22:55

We sometimes have lamb which is about £10 but generally have more fish than meat, probably about £25 total for two of us

ZanyPombear · 12/09/2024 22:58

I’ve just realised not a lot. I buy two tins of nice tuna a week and besides that I might buy steak burgers or something

MrNarwhal · 12/09/2024 23:04

Nothing, we don't buy meat. I'm vegan, my family eat meat at school or when at a restaurant. We don't bother buying it anymore for home cooking as no ones fussed about it, it's expensive, I don't particularly want to cook it and we eat alternatives to meat instead.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 12/09/2024 23:06

We get a butchers box for £50
