Ive had D+V all night, cant even keep water down, bile coming up

No idea why, quite out of character for me

However OH has now got me some anti sickness tablets and some dioralyte and Im managing to keep it down. I feel utterly weak and achy.

I really really am craving that old style thick Lucozade, but it doesnt exist any more does it?

I got him to get me some coke although Im not keen on that.

Yep, old fashioned lucozade in the bobbly glass bottle plus the Mr Men on TV and a magic paint brush book. 😊

That's weird @SeptemberIRememberALoveOnceNewHasNowGrownOld because I haven't been able to drink 7up for years and years because they snuck sweeteners in ages ago. I wonder if they changed it back for a short time and because I'd given up on checking I hadn't noticed. Everywhere had been doing it slowly for years and then it's just got worse after the sugar tax.

For me if I do want a fizzy drink yeah it's Coke, Irn Bru 1901 or Appletiser I know I'm safe with. Some corner shops have the American imported Fantas and have a good range of flavours at least. M&S also do a normal lemonade that doesn't have them and Fever Tree brand is fine too.

It's actually a nightmare when I'm out and about, I don't always want a hot drink (and I need to be careful with caffeine because of a heart condition as well). Some places I'm stuck with plain water, fruit juice or alcohol for cold drinks. I've actually started sampling the various non and low-alcoholic beers when I'm in Wetherspoons as the only soft drinks there were water or fruit juice for me. Recently I've been quite liking the Corona cero as they put a lime wedge in it. Once I get over this bug I might go treat myself to a couple of them.

It's n̈ot in glass bottles anymore but you can buy origin̈al lucozade - I've always given to my kids when they're ill. It tastes exactly the same as when i was young & mum gave it to us in 70s. Our local Coop stocks it but have bought in other supermarkets as well. The orange stuff just isn't right.

Scentsless · 11/09/2024 19:34

I don't recall it being thick and syrupy either and I'm in my 60's.

I recall the glass bottles wrapped in orange film, but thought the taste was just the same as Lucozade original is today. (Not Lucozade Sport, that's different).

Not original. Sweetners

This are the new recipe with sweeteners. They taste nothing like the 70s version or indeed any of the pre sweetener lucozade original. I wish they'd bring the original back

Downthemedow · 14/09/2024 12:04

Well, my bottles arrived yesterday, so I left them to chill overnight in the fridge so I could give them a proper taste test.

Happy to report that the taste is good (although my tastebuds aren’t what they were, thanks covid) and I think it’s the same
as I remember. I wouldn’t say it’s syrupy but I was drinking lucozade in the late 80s and I don’t remember it being syrupy then either. Worth a try, definitely!

Normallynumb · 14/09/2024 14:31

My Mum was T1 diabetic so we always had a bottle in the house in case she had a hypo
It's now almost impossible to find a drink with a decent amount of sugar.
Whatever happened to freedom of choice?
