Obviously lighthearted and no need to explain your rational. But what are things that some people consider high end/ posh/ classy/ aspirational (I know they are not necessarily the same thing) that you don’t like/ think are tacky/ common / etc.

Again this is light hearted. We can complain but we must never explain!!!!!!

Here is my list.

Molton Brown hand wash
M&S food shop
American Style Fridges
Having a tan
Talking about exercising
Beauty Advent Calendars
Designer toasters and kettles
House of Fraser department stores
Posting photos from 1st class travel on instagram
Referring to your car by its brand name
Talking about your ‘forever home’
Shopping in Space NK
Visiting Disney World
Listening to Classic FM

I think that actually makes you quite posh. But to be sure, can you describe both the bra, and the garden... ?

Bra is bog standard M&S I’m afraid… probably as old as my 20yo DD 🤣 Garden is average size for leafy suburbs (don’t get too excited, it’s only a rental) and rather unkempt as the gardener forgot to come, plus said dog enjoys digging to Australia…

Gowlett · 03/09/2024 21:05

Show oil. I’m dying… Would posh up any MFI kitchen!
Ditto the fancy bath oil in a glass with a spherical knob.

PrestonHood121 · 03/09/2024 21:05

Bath and Body Works products from America

Funerals with carriages and horses.

Simply frightful.

I do.

You clearly have never tasted toast made in a top of the range Morphy Richards

I've just got rid of a top of the range Morphy Richards because it was shite.

Gone back to a common Swan and it's much better. 😂

Do you remember those bath oil balls? you kept them in a glass jar in your bathroom. Occasionally you'd use one- you put them in the bath and they sort of melted. They were proper posh.

My gran was obsessed with “class” and had a charm bracelet like this. When she died, it became mine. Do I show my common roots whenever I wear it?

I am common, I wear it and I don't care what people think. Wear yours with workers' pride!

Giving a rats arse what anyone else thinks.

The poshest person I have ever met, real aristocratic old money, used to have bottles of HP sauce and own brand salad cream on the table. And her husband used to eat a takeaway curry with a hanky balanced on his head to soak up the sweat.

The manager of a cafe (in Clapham Common!!) once called me ‘common’ for asking for ketchup with my scrambled egg on toast.

Justgorgeous · 03/09/2024 21:08

Talking about handwash. I was disgusted to see that Harrods have now got Baylis and Harding in their bathrooms!

I have all of these you mention OP. Plus i went long haul abroad, centre parcs and range rover. But I’m immigrant and i dont feel posh. Clearly not speaking posh as i have accent when i speak. I live in Cambridge and i even often feel english people ‘sees’ me beneath them and funnily enough usually the one who racist its the one who have no money (you can really tell from how they dressed and speak).

I’m dying laughing at “Scotland” here in Scotland because I fear it’s true😂😂😂😂😂

This is just a bizarre mish mash of random words. 😂

Anyone driving a Range Rover who does not have a farming background (esp. white ones 🤨)

Harrods deserves a place on this thread in general!

Rescue2024 · 03/09/2024 21:12

Isn’t it more flash than posh?

don’t ask me, I had to google what a dry robe is.
I know Miller and Carter is not flash or posh

Forcing guests to take their shoes off at the door because you have a glaring white carpet that you obviously can't afford to have cleaned.

On my dog walk today there was a pile of vomit on the pavement with a footprint in it so I'd say those people are sensible rather than anything else.

I don’t think people think many of these things are posh, do they?

But also their is only one option for good handwash: www.penhaligons.com/uk/en/categories/bath-and-body/bath-hand-wash

Surely not?

I’m still using the products I hoarded acquired during Covid when Penhaligon’s had some very reasonable prices.

Harrods is dead common, they even let me in there.

Papyrophile · 03/09/2024 21:12

You are all quite, quite magnificently bonkers. Why does anyone need to pretend they are better than ....x? We are just very ordinarily ordinary.

Hmm, borderline, lets ask the judges

Crrrrrrrraig Revel-Horwood.............. 8 (quite nouveau so not to be trusted)
Bruno Tonioli..........................8 (does what Craig tells him)
Len Goodman.........................6
Anton du Beke.........................10

So the verdict is.................POSH
