Just curious.

i sadly thought the arrests would come to nothing a couple of years ago, but it sucked to be right.

It’s phrased a little insensitively but by all accounts his family don’t want his case forgotten and therefore however it’s raised is bringing him into people’s minds. It’s a baffling case and I honestly don’t know.

fedupoftheheatnow · 03/09/2024 21:07

@Aquamarine1029

"Unless this case, and countless others like it, stay in the public eye, the families will never get answers. I am confident that Andrew's parents don't want the world to forget about him, and if some respectful speculation can help keep Andrew's story alive, all the better. There is probably someone out there who knows something, that they might not even realise is critical, that could hold the answer as to what happened to him."

Completely agree

Whats wrong with the word curious?

Its a professional word for me, I have to be curious about various theories/explanations/factors, things to explore and unpick.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the word curious.

MelainesLaugh · 03/09/2024 21:41

I’ve never heard of this lad before. I’m aware of MM, Ben Needham and a few others but this case is just shocking. It’s crazy to think someone can just vanish into thin air

wereofftobuttonmoonbebacksoon · 03/09/2024 21:47

My parents live in the same street (although they didn't know the family). It was such a shock to the village.

I thought I should apologise as so many people took offence but idk what’s wrong with it either

Don't apologise when you've done nothing wrong. I wish there were far more curiosity about what happened to Andrew. His family might have some answers already.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/09/2024 23:33

I've never heard of this poor boy, I imagine his disappearance got eclipsed by MM's.

AlexandraJJ · 03/09/2024 23:40

I knew his parents and his mum rather well. I moved away and was shocked to hear of this when it happened. It is baffling and I hope they do get some resolution to what happened, they are lovely people

A charge on a psp would last several days, it’s not like phones of today. I will say that I do think he intended to be back though. Unfortunately I think he was groomed.

Not if he was playing games on it. It was estimated to have about 4-6 hours battery life for game time, depending on screen brightness and how much the game used the UMD (disk) drive during play. If he was just using it to listen to music with the screen off, it would have lasted longer.

Exactly. I am very familiar with them due to my kids, and the batteries definitely did not last for several days when used for gaming.

Well I hadn’t heard of this sad case, so this thread is helpful. If we all looked out for a man in his 30s with that distinctive ear, we might get somewhere. Hope he’s alive and well.

Beezknees · 04/09/2024 07:17

I think it's likely he went to meet somebody, either someone he met online or in real life, for a day out and that person unfortunately wasn't who he thought they would be.

It's very surprising that in a city as big as London there is so little footage of him.

Blueybanditbingochilli · 04/09/2024 07:44

I think he was collected then from the station by car hence the lack of CCTV etc showing him walking away but then I’m sure they’ve thought of this.

Edingril · 04/09/2024 08:13

How is it any different to Madeline macann, Lucy Letby discussions?

If it is the news people disuss it

I think Andrew may have met someone at/because of going to the camp he attended during the summer before he went missing.

Him taking the train alone into London was so out of character, and based on what he took with him, and most importantly what he didn't, it did not appear in that he planned to leave permanently.

His case is so remarkable because of the glaring lack of evidence, especially in our digital age. He didn't have a cell phone, no email, no Internet at home, and no activity on the computers at school. This makes it likely that whatever/whoever enticed him to go to London that day was something or someone he encountered in real life. He had also stopped taking the bus on the way home from school for the few days of the new school year before he went missing, and decided to walk, which could have provided him the opportunity to meet with someone his parents weren't aware of.

I have thought of him and the circumstances of his disappearance countless times. It genuinely has prevented me from sleeping on a few occasions when my mind can't shut off. If the police hadn't fucked up the initial investigation, his family might have the answers they need. Andrew was a sweet, intelligent boy, and he deserves to be found.

That's basically my thoughts.

That's why he bought a single ticket to London, he thought he was getting a lift back.
Why he went at all, to meet to meet someone he knew, not a stranger.
Why he disappeared off CCTV at Kings Cross, he got straight into a car he recognised.
Why there was no online record, it was planned in person.
He clearly met someone (a man, I am sure) highly manipulative.

And that is exactly what is wrong with the world, pack mentality jumping on someone to the extent they end up saying they were wrong when a) they didnt think they were and b) they're not

OP its right to be curious in life.

I’m autistic, sometimes I say or word things wrongly but I truly didn’t mean to offend. I find this case an interesting and truly sad one and often think of Andrew’s family, especially his poor father.

The police unfortunately didn’t check the CCTV quick enough as they immediately thought his father was to blame. When they did, it had all been overwritten.

They definitely didn’t question everyone at that gifted and talented camp, there was hundreds of them as it was held at a university. So it’s very possible.

Exactly. The inaction of the police in this case was reprehensible. They let the best evidence available slip through their fingers.

Samcro · 04/09/2024 16:09

i think anything that keeps his name out there is good. must be horrendous for his parents to not know what happened to him.

AnnieMcFanny · 04/09/2024 16:17

Andrew is someone I think of often despite him being a complete stranger to me. I do hope his parents find out what happened to him and I wish them some closure sooner rather than later.

GameOfJones · 04/09/2024 16:18

This is the teenage boy that got the train to London alone isn't it and disappeared? It is such a shame that his case didn't garner the sort of attention that other missing children cases have. I hope his poor family get answers one day, it must be awful not knowing what happened.
