How unusual is it to have all four grandparents alive?

A friend of mine is 31 and has all four of her grandparents. They’re all in their late 80s. I said to her that must be quite rare but she said she’d never thought of it like that.

I never knew one of my grandfathers as he died when myum was quite young and, due to generational gaps, the rest were all nearly 70 when I was born so, despite both grandmas living into their 90s I'd lost them all by my mid 20s. My best friend still had all 4 of hers until she was 37 as there was only a 38 year gap!

I’m 45 and have one grandparent left who is 92 and still living independently. I was 10, 15 and then 25 when I lost the others. My great grandma lived until 99 and outlived 2 of my grandparents. They were a big part of my life growing up, I lived with my grandma for a few months and one set lived on the same street as us so it was a second home.

DH and I both have our parents who range from 69 - 79 and are in ok-ish health with long term chronic health conditions that they are managing. I had my DC quite late, conscious that they may not have as many years of grandparents as I did.

Due to vastly different age gaps between generations I had all 4 GP alive until I was about 30.

When my DS was born 3 of his 4 GP were already dead.

I had all my grandparents alive until I was 31, now at 35 I still have 2, both in their 80’s, still driving and have great social lives. When my niblings were born they had 4 grandparents and 4 great grandparents.

I think quite unusual. My son has all 4 grandparents, but my husband is NC with his mum. My sister has 6mo boy and her father in law passed away few days ago. Honestly, apart from my own son, I don’t know many people who have full set. Definitely don’t know any grown up like this. There’s always someone who already passed away.

I’m 33 and I have one parent left and no grandparents.
Lost two grandparents and my Mum in 3 years. My Mum died last year while I was pregnant.
