I'm just waiting for the kettle to boil to make myself a coffee - I've been up ages thanks to the dickheads kittens climbing various things & being rowdy in my bedroom 🙄

Dd1 asked me to wake her when I got up so she could get some more college work done but I think she's gone back to sleep 🤷‍♀️ I'll nip and check in a minute.

We don't really have much planned for today. It's the last weekend we're all off so I suggested we go out for dinner/tea. Dd1 was the only one who answered & suggested somewhere. Dd2 requested a stop off to buy pens so I'm guessing she wants to go out too.

In the meantime, I started clearing out under the bed yesterday, so I'll finish that, upload a couple of things on Vinted, and request my prescription.

What about all of you?🙂

Redecorated my daughter's bedroom last week. Her sister moved out a little while ago so she's chuffed to have the room to herself now! Need to move the furniture back into position now the paintwork is dry and clean a few spots of the carpet. (Make up stains!) then build her new desk all ready for back to college on the 9th.

Waiting for the DDs to finish their Kumon, then we’ll catch the bus into town to return library books and DS’s new school shoes which he’s turned his nose up at 🙄. I think they also might need new hoodies and possibly pants, thank God for payday. Nothing planned for the afternoon but some cleaning and tidying will need to be done; I might get the children to go through their clothes and fill up a couple of charity bags.

lucysmam · 31/08/2024 11:52

That's pretty yarn @CoffeandTiaMaria. I have some beautiful yarn to use for a top before I buy more ignore the massive bags under my bed

Happy anniversary @gingercat02 , enjoy tonight 🥂

Morning all, I have dropped my youngest at football and dd1 at work, then taken my parents their shopping. My DH has been in the queue along with lots of others for tickets for Oasis gig, no luck as yet. We had our neighbours over last night for a bbq so just getting the last few bits put away. Not much planned for the rest of the day, apart from some household chores. Tonight we will watch a film and have leftovers from last night. Have a good one everyone.

RabbitsRock · 31/08/2024 12:00

Happy Anniversary @gingercat02 🎈🎉🎇🎆🎁💐❤️🍾🥂

Giggorata · 31/08/2024 12:00

Good morning lucysmam and all, and happy anniversary gingercat!
I have been away for about a month, visiting family in Europe, so have been sorting out shopping, tons of washing and admin this morning.
I also went to the World Science Fiction Convention in Glasgow and had a great time, also accidentally buying some more books, which now have to be housed…

Then house cleaning and tidying this afternoon, while DH is grass cutting in the field.
A builder is coming later to give an estimate for replacing our very long and ropey hall window. I am seeing an opportunity for stained glass 😀

Left over roast chicken will be curried this evening.
We were talking about going to see the new Alien film tonight but will probably go during the week, as less crowded and we might be able to get an oldies deal.

I feel the same haha. The enthusiasm for making plans and doing summer stuff has seriously waned. Still in my pjs and kids are playing with lego. Out for dinner tonight with DH for the first time for months, so that will be lovely.

I definitely felt this year, kids had clubs it was me just running around the kids when they had trips from their club and activities, i had no time for decent meal as the kids worn me out,,, and i feel like they eating me out of my house lol making dinners three times a day i appreciate when they are at school and have a good routine i only make one dinner when they come back from school saves me alot of money

i can't wait for a lie in

Natsku · 31/08/2024 12:10

I meant to do some studying but then Jehova's Witnesses came to the door so I had a little debate with them, then a friend turned up for a cup of tea and a game of cribbage, and now DS wants me to build a Scalextric track for him. I will do some studying later, hopefully!

DD has gone to a sleepover, and OH is fixing speakers in the basement.

DS hasn't got dressed yet.

braaaiiins · 31/08/2024 12:11

What a lovely thread. I'm slouched in a heap on the couch drinking coffee and recovering from whatever the virus was that knocked me on my backside last week. Might see if i can manage to do some gardening later cause it's finally sunny today.

TheChosenTwo · 31/08/2024 12:14

Not morning anymore but Dh took ds to his football match while I joined the pointless and never ending queue for oasis tickets… I’m still in the queue but I’ve cleaned the kitchen and made a cake and cleaned the kitchen again!
Need to go out and get a few things from the shops. Dh and ds are going to watch our local football team this afternoon then they are walking up to meet us at a friends house for a bbq (in what looks suspiciously like a fine drizzle currently!).

RabbitsRock · 31/08/2024 12:37

Good afternoon @lucysmam & everyone. Driving out of London after a packed couple of days, just me & DH. It’s been lovely. Can highly recommend “Mrs Doubtfire The Musical” which we saw last night. Hilarious, heartwarming & just fab. I didn’t want it to end! Collecting DD15 from her GF’s enroute. Planning a nice easy tea, probably beans on toast, and will watch the new series of “ The Voice”.

terracottafarm · 31/08/2024 12:37

Morning or should I say afternoon! I just bought oasis tickets on the whim and just finishing the house work. Then out for a drink with friends later! Have a good day OP!

Hello @lucysmam and mumsnet 👋🏻
I've got out of the habit of my little Saturday wander through other people's weekends over the summer holidays - I've missed it! I find it soothing to hear about people's ordinary lives - don't know about everyone else.

I've been for my Saturday run and chat, had a coffee in the garden and been food shopping with Dh as we've got friends coming round for dinner later. We were going to have a last ditch bbq but it's a bit chilly and cloudy so had a last minute change of heart.

The house is a mess and there's laundry mountain to sort after the first week of everyone back to work and school so the rest of the day will be spent sorting that. I need to make a pudding (pear and almond cake) and do a bit of school work if I have time.

Iamnotaloggrip · 31/08/2024 13:11

Afternoon all. I’ve done a bit of work and been to the gym this morning, just made a lasagne for dinner. DP working, DC out with their grandparents at a National Trust place they love. All back to enjoy the fruits of my labour later on. Now trying to decide what to do with the few hours of peace I have left!

I didn't know that started the voice thanks for letting me lol

Probateprobs · 31/08/2024 13:22

I've been clearing out the shed/outbuilding and prepping the walls for painting. I'm claiming it as my woman cave. Will probably head out to a park later once DS and DC have finished watching the football.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 31/08/2024 13:24

Footie day for us.

Watched DD playing football this morning.

Heading off to watch my team get beat this afternoon 🥲 with DS and DM.
DD is a ball girl this afternoon so that will make up for the inevitable bad result.

Hiking with Scouts tomorrow.

RabbitsRock · 31/08/2024 14:09

terracottafarm another lucky one! Which venue did you get tickets for?

asterixa · 31/08/2024 14:54

Thank you to whoever reminded me to label school uniforms, which I am doing now!
Youngest is asleep, eldest painting fences with his dad.
This morning I put together a bookshelf for youngest books and built a Lego set with eldest, while husband has been doing gardening all day.

Lentil and black bean chili for dinner, then a film when kids are sleeping.

Such a lovely thread, I’m also fascinated by all the ordinary things other people get up to on their Saturdays!

gardenmusic · 31/08/2024 16:29

I popped into a medium sized Tesco and saw a panel of Christmas Puds, mince pies, star shaped shortbread, and lieberkuchen! Cadbury christmas cakes and snowy chocolate fingers.
A box of Mr Kipling frosty fancies somehow came through the checkout with me...

Pumpkittenspice · 31/08/2024 16:46

I’ve just cleaned my dressing table and make-up brushes. I feel a lot better for it 😊

EsmeeMerlin · 31/08/2024 16:49

Afternoon all, we went into town this morning to pick up school shoes and a look around the range. Picked up some autumn bits which brings me joy.

Spent the afternoon doing some cleaning and 11 plus prep work with ds1. Nothing much planned for this evening.

MillionaireCaramel · 31/08/2024 16:57

It's a lovely sunny day here, so I took the dog to the beach with my mum, then we went to the shop for some bits for tonight for both of us, and because it was nice and we wanted to keep chatting we stopped off in the beer garden and had a lager.

Home now in the garden enjoying the last bit of summer if we can call it that, have to sort the washing out soon and then do tea (don't quite know what yet from whats in the fridge). Probably a film later.

Very relaxed day for me, has been nice not to be busy for once

anareen · 31/08/2024 17:02

Wallowing in my depression. Had a good cry a bit ago. That seemed to help a tad.
