Hey,

totally nosey question so please just scroll on if you’re not interested….

after you have paid all of your essential bills/costs, how much disposable income do you have left to spend/save?

OP posts:
Miaowm · 30/08/2024 18:55

Probably about £800

Thatenbymum · 30/08/2024 18:58

About a fiver

thereiscustardinthejamtart · 30/08/2024 18:59

After essential (mortgage, council tax, utilities, school fees), between us we have about £1,700 discretionary (groceries, non-work travel, TV, mobiles subscriptions, savings, clothes, shoes, gifts) and about £800 disposable (eating out, hobbies etc).

Jingleballs2 · 30/08/2024 19:07

Honestly, no idea.. depends what you class as essential too as we tend to spend a lot on food. Probably about 3/3.5k

SecondFavouriteDinosaur · 30/08/2024 19:08

About £4k

Cosycover · 30/08/2024 19:10

Just over 3k but that doesn't include the food shop. Probably spend £600 a month on food.

Rainbowbrite83 · 30/08/2024 23:29

@Loopylou7219 was thinking about taking in ironing to top it up a bit.

Times are hard 😞

Probably about 20k a month, doesn't include pension contributions though, so some months can feel a little tough.

Oh do bugger off.

KStockHERO · 19/03/2025 13:59

About £9000 a month.

buffyfaith · 19/03/2025 13:59

Nothing

Honestly what is the point of a thread like this

People just love to show off 😂 notice how all the people with 2k plus left over after bills were the first to comment

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 19/03/2025 14:21

Savings and pension are essential to me, as are a buffer for day-to-day clubs and treats for my son, a savings pot for the car etc, so after everything, I have £200/month.

This is plenty for me - one big night out, a few bits and pieces.

KStockHERO · 19/03/2025 13:59

About £9000 a month.

Bollocks.

Charlie2121 · 19/03/2025 18:32

I have about 8k spare each month after paying all bills. I then put 5k into a pension each month and use the other 3k for spending money. Any that is left at the end of the month is put into an ISA.

KStockHERO · 19/03/2025 18:47

LookingAtMyBhunas · 19/03/2025 18:25

Bollocks.

How so?

Me and DP earn £7.5K net a month from our jobs (in total, not individually). Then DP earns an additional £3K net per month from consultancy

That's £10.5K.

Our monthly essential costs are around £1.5K. That leaves £9K a month after all bills and essentials.

henlake7 · 19/03/2025 19:12

Probably about £700 before groceries. Doesn't sound a lot compared to some but I've managed to get through my working life only doing part time and have enjoyed 5 day 'weekends' for years.
That's more valuable to me then money TBH.
