Just for fun. Would love to just hear people's thoughts and reasons behind this one.

Denmark or the Netherlands. I don’t think I could stand the heat in southern Europe in the height of summer.have a soft spot for Croatia though. Such a beautiful place

StirlingMallory · 23/08/2024 15:22

Ireland. Irish grandparents and, even tho they died long before I was born, every time I've holidayed there it's felt like going home.

Onesailwait · 23/08/2024 15:27

Currently live in Canada. I would give anything to move back to England. You can't beat it. The people, the food, the countryside, the pubs, and the sense of humour. They say you don't know what you've got till it gone and that is so true.

Backwoods57 · 23/08/2024 15:30

Left the UK and now living in the USA. If I had to move again maybe Finland, Switzerland or Canada.

MaidOfSteel · 23/08/2024 15:30

Australia, probably. Similar culture, fab people, much better weather! Or, failing that, Portugal, on the Algarve somewhere. I've spent lots of time there and found it to be easy going & friendly. And much better weather!

LlynTegid · 23/08/2024 15:33

South of France. Climate OK for me, pace of life fine, and I would be happy to improve my French.

Brexit put a stop to that as a retirement option.

Wales. I have a pipe dream to learn Welsh and permanent hiraeth.

Me too! Grin
I would say Wales, Portugal or Australia, all of which I have visited, or I'd take a chance on New Zealand which I haven't been to but we have friends there and they love it

GalacticalFarce · 23/08/2024 15:46

USA Hawaii.

100% Ireland! For the great conversations, butter, and taytos in that order.

I now want a Tayto sandwich with butter. Smile
I have the Irish butter just need to pop to the shops for a bag of Tayto.
Dh and dcs are out this evening so that's what I'll have for tea instead of making dinner for myself.
I live in Ireland.

I think I'd like to live in Southern California or Florida at the beach.
Failing that Southern Spain or Fuertaventura

Butwhybecause · 23/08/2024 16:29

I would have said Australia, I love the wide open spaces.

But it's gone a bit bonkers lately so I'll have to have a re-think.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 23/08/2024 16:32

I did it. I'm in Sweden. It's clean, quiet and people keep to themselves. Perfect for an autistic person like me.

Wales wouldn't be difficult and not very far 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

And we do speak English as well 🙂

muddyford · 23/08/2024 16:57

Italy or Finland. I would have said Australia but after today's ruling the Establishment appears deranged.

Italy for culture, food, landscape.
Finland for wildness, climate, people.

DanceMumTaxi · 23/08/2024 17:47

New Zealand, somewhere in the north island so nowhere that gets super cold. The distance from home puts me off though.

PouthSark · 23/08/2024 17:49

Finland or Switzerland. Because I think I could find a peaceful home there and they get plenty of snow.

Dreamy! Also autistic and just said Finland for the same reason!

I moved to Australia. If I had to move again, it would be somewhere without a typical Western culture.

Vietnam, Japan, South Korea (cooler than lots of other SE Asian countries)

You can still retire to France but it's not as simple and you need enough money. I think the process is - you have to apply for a long stay visa, prove you have somewhere to live, have private medical insurance and prove you have an income of at least £16,000 a year approx. Then after 5 years you can apply for permanent residence.

bryceQ · 23/08/2024 19:33

Copenhagen I think... Always think it seems a lovely place to live

America- Missouri. First step towards getting my visa already taken

We'll be neighbours ( sort of!) I moved to Southern Indiana last autumn

daisychain01 · 23/08/2024 19:36

Spain, as I speak the lingo and have family and friends there so it would be like home from home.

SecretWitch · 23/08/2024 19:37

I'm in the US but would happily move out west to the high desert of Oregon or to New Mexico for its stunning landscapes
