I bought Lurpak in Iceland the other day.
I've never had it before.
I'm from Dublin.

Can I ask why does everyone rave about it.
I found it very meh.

I don't know. It's virtually tasteless. It's marginally better than those vegetable/margarine spreads in that it doesn't have an unpleasant taste or feel, which the vegetable/margarine ones do.

It's nothing special. You can get much better butter in M&S

I use own brand blocks of butter. Lurpak is overpriced

I've never understood the love for Lurpak either. It's virtually tasteless. Proper salted block butter is so much better!

Did you buy it in Dublin? I adore Lurpak but can't find any shops that sell it in Dublin... I didn't think there were any Icelands here

It's nowhere near as tasty as locally made Irish butters and I say that as a Brit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s made with milk, rapeseed oil, water and salt. Butter is made with cream and salt.

Lurpack is disgusting and doesn't spread - and it costs a fortune! Clover is much better

I can't stand it! Absolutely tasteless grease.
Irish butter and dairy products were always lovely when I visited. The ice cream!! 🤤 Oh, I hope it's not gone all crap now like everything else!

Dh likes the Aldi version of Lurpak, I like the Aldi version of Anchor spreadable butter.

Lurpak Spread lover here. Yes, I would prefer proper butter but the spreadyness of Lurpak is handy for quickness as I would never remember to take the butter out the fridge in time for my lunchtime sandwich.

You can keep a small block of butter in a covered butterdish for a few days and it will keep fine.

I really can't, too many bad memories of rancid butter in Grandads house 40 years ago and the cat constantly trying to get in to it 🤣

I hate the taste of lurpak. It tastes like cheap marg to me. Give me a golden salty butter anytime over that

I worked for the company that makes Lurpak and most other dairy spreads. They are all the same.

This is my fridge butter. I used REAL butter for everything else. It doesn't get refrigerated x

I've tried numerous different butters,
margarines and spreads and none of them are as good as Lurpak,
not even the Aldi/Lidl dupes!

French butter is usually very good -- lower water content. If you want a really decent butter, that’s worth a go.

Lurpak is just the beneficiary of some adept branding. It’s not anything special.

Compared to kerrygold, it's meh.

But it's great if you want to make really white buttercream!!
