David Tennant. Others not even close. Love him!

DinnaeFashYersel · 14/08/2024 19:28

1 David Tenant
2 Matt Smith
3 Peter Capaldi

OuiLaLa · 14/08/2024 19:28

Matt Smith by a long chalk - and his stuff is still very watchable. Plus he had two of the best companions.

David Tennant era has not aged so well for rewatching and it was too soapy for me. He is my mums fav though as she thinks he is the most handsome 😁

Peter Capaldi is also better on a rewatch.

Peter Capaldi. It used to be David Tennant, but I find him really hard to watch now I know he’s such a knob IRL. Peter Capaldi just understood the whole character so well and after watching his run a few times it’s now my favourite.

The only doctor I’ve ever disliked is Jodie Whittaker and I’m so angry that they made the female doctor so bloody wet.

What did David Tennant do?

Christopher Eccleston.

Disasterclass · 14/08/2024 19:30

Tennant followed by Matt Smith. Capaldi took awhile to grow on me but think he's great.

What about companions? Rose is definitely my favourite, followed by Clara

mondaytosunday · 14/08/2024 19:31

You got it @SquatBetty! The longest and the bestest!

AnnaMagnani · 14/08/2024 19:32

Christopher Ecclestone by some distance. None of the reboot ones would exist without him.

shellyleppard · 14/08/2024 19:32

Tom baker from my childhood, David Tennant for the modern version..... he's absolutely gorgeous 😍

taxguru · 14/08/2024 19:32

Peter Davidson.

BiggerBoat1 · 14/08/2024 19:33

@Sjahd

He is very vocal about supporting the trans community and some people don’t like that.

FuckThePoPo · 14/08/2024 19:33

Peter Capaldi and it used to be David but I don't like him anymore 😂

It's not because of his support for the trans community - it's because of what he says about anyone (women) who have different beliefs to him and campaign for the hard fought and won sex based rights of women

LateMumma · 14/08/2024 19:38

David tennant

@Sjahd yes, this. It’s less “support for the trans community” than public hatred of women, the most obvious example is that he gave a speech in which he wished Kemi Badenoch (female, black) out of existence. He seems to be one of the “activists” who at heart are raging misogynists. As far as I can see, his only real acts of support involve wearing t shirts/pins with woke slogans at events, and then laps up all adulation from the twitter crowd.

cupcaske123 · 14/08/2024 20:17

At an LGBTQ award ceremony, Tennant said that he wanted Badenoch to shut up and not exist, he also said that he didn't wish her any harm. Because of that, he apparently foams at the mouth incandescent with rage against women. I'd also like her to shut up so I guess I'm a raving misogynist too.

Pedallleur · 14/08/2024 20:17

Ecclestone was a great choice for the reboot. Wish he had stuck with it. My daughter was watching Capaldi recently and he and Jenna Coleman were excellent together. Trouble is I keep waiting for him to become Malcolm Tucker and start ranting.

tsmainsqueeze · 14/08/2024 20:29

Christopher Ecclestone is the only actor that has ever made me want to watch Dr Who.

NImumconfused · 14/08/2024 20:42

Christopher Ecclestone definitely for modern Who, Tom Baker for classic.

I believe his exact words were "a tiny bunch of whinging f*ckers who are on the wrong side of history"

ghostyslovesheets · 14/08/2024 20:49

3 and 13 for me

ghostyslovesheets · 14/08/2024 20:49

No 3 and 12! not 13 - found 13 was badly done - rewritten as a lively Labrador puppy

Jellykat · 14/08/2024 20:53

David Tennant
(although Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee were fab at the time)

MrsLeonFarrell · 14/08/2024 20:55

"My" Doctor, by which I mean the first i remember is Jon Pertwee, never understood all the fuss about Tom Baker.

Favourite in the new era, Christopher Eccleston.

ApplesinmyPocket · 14/08/2024 20:58

Matt Smith. Funny, endearing, so so smart and DANGEROUS. He was so lovely and gentle with small troubled humans, but then could turn in an instant to the all-powerful being DARING his enemies to strike the first blow.

Who could forget that joyful, provovative, but utterly commanding, "I AM THE DOCTOR!!"
