Has anyone got a Tangle Teezer?

My strength in my arms is getting worse, it’s such an effort to brush my hair and I’m wondering if one of these might help me

I have one. It’s good for curly hair but you still have to hold your arms up to brush so I don’t know that it’s what you’re looking for, sorry.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 24/07/2024 10:44

I find the tangle teaser is more effort than my bristle brush. Large paddle brush is probably the easiest but it depends on your hair

TeapotCollection · 24/07/2024 10:52

Thanks both

My hair is curly, just below shoulder length. I’ll have a look for a decent paddle brush. Thanks again

I have about 4 😆 (two DDs)

They are great and you can now get them with handles which is easier when brushing your own hair.

TeapotCollection · 24/07/2024 11:03

I saw the ones with handles on eBay, they’re very expensive for a brush (£13) but I wouldn’t mind that if it made my life easier

I think it depends on your hair type. I have fine hair but a lot of it and fine that a wind tooth comb works much better when my hair is wet and a non padded hair brush when dry. My tangle teaser was much more work for me.

Foxblue · 24/07/2024 11:08

I have one, they are brilliant and well worth the money in my opinion - not tried the ones with handles but they look good

No33 · 24/07/2024 11:11

Didn't work for me, but I LOVE my 'wetbrush'

CointreauVersial · 24/07/2024 11:12

I have fine hair, but dry/greying, and I use nothing but Tangle Teasers, for both wet and dry brushing. They are brilliant. I bought them originally for the DDs, who have long blonde hair, but started using them myself and never went back.

BUT I wouldn't say they are easy to hold, as there's no handle. I quite often drop mine.

Oldandcobwebby · 24/07/2024 11:14

@SurpriseTwinPregnancy We've got Tangle Teazers at the moment, but, on your recommendation, I've just ordered a Ninabella for my daughter. She struggles with hypermobile wrist joints, so hopefully it will make her life easier. Thank you!

EasterlyDirections · 24/07/2024 11:20

I have wavy shoulder length hair, tangle teezers don't work at all for me, my DCs (both long hair one curly one straight) don't like them either, the bristles are too short. We all use Wet Brushes, they go through the hair really easily..

Petal7 · 24/07/2024 11:26

Another vote for wet brushes

Wahine24 · 24/07/2024 12:41

@TeapotCollection Going to recommend a wet brush too, they are really light , easy to use, have a good amount of "teeth" so don't drag your hair and have a handle, downside is they go sticky after a while sort of like the plastic starts to delaminate , making the brush feel tacky (it's happened with two I've bought)

lto2019 · 24/07/2024 15:46

I had one when they first came out but now have the much cheaper but otherwise the same Home Bargains version.

LER83 · 24/07/2024 17:23

I love my tangle teezer. I have the one for thick hair. I even bought one for my dog! The best thing I have found though for making my hair easier to brush is mane & tail detangling spray.

TheHuntSyndicate · 24/07/2024 17:36

They only do the surface of my hair. If you have thick hair they won't get to all your hair.

Expo23 · 24/07/2024 17:40

I used to tangle teeze and was impressed but then I tried a wet brush and it was actually better so I use them now for the first brush after thw shower. I think I read somewhere they are not great for your hair. I'm not sure why, it didn't resonate with me so I didn't retain the information. They work better than my old brushes and I am careful to start brushing from the bottom and move up.

I think £13 is pretty cheap for a decent brush - anything under £20 for one you're going to use for years is a reasonable price. The cheap ones really don't last well in my experience, and aren't as good at detangling.

This is the trouble I had with them. Took lots of brushing to finally be knot free. I have a wooden boar hair paddle brush which is decent. Paddle brush it is quite heavy so might not be what your looking for.

Although the new spiral brushes might be what you need. They are lightweight and similar to tangle tweezers in that they don't pull wet hair. I have one for the gym, brushing my wet hair after shower.

Billyballyboo · 24/07/2024 17:48

The wet brush is better. The tangle teaser damaged my fine hair.

dragonfliesandbees · 24/07/2024 21:24

I had one and found it absolute rubbish. As pp said, it only did the surface of my hair and took forever to untangle because the bristles just bent. My hairdresser recommended Head Jog (which looks exactly like the Ninabella linked by @SurpriseTwinPregnancy above). It’s so much better. I especially like their ocean brush - slightly different design and the bristles are a little firmer.

Yourethebeerthief · 24/07/2024 21:28

If you have thick hair I would ask the hairdresser to take some weight out of it to make your life easier.
