DH and DSs downstairs (one DS at pub with mates!) watching footie. I'm lying on my bed, with the dog scrolling Mumsnet thinking I'll be glad when this is all over!!

I'm now in bed, with a cuppa writing a to do list for the week. Might sound dull, but it helps me feel in control and lists make me feel a bit less stressed and anxious. I'm also holiday hunting!

@Catnipcupcakes I live in London , what logistics are tricky? Just wondering if I could help.

Mm. Looking to book a new cattery as my usual has recently closed (you obviously can’t help with that!)

I’m booking the Highlander night train down from Aberdeen and looking to have a week somewhere I can easily get to Camden, Kensington and Hammersmith (on different days) ideally for around £300 per night. ‘Insider’ advice on this would be most welcome!

Its booking it all to fit together that’s mindbending as there are so many exhibition tickets that need booking in advance. I’m sure it will all fall into place.

I just can't get into it, either. I might see the highlights of a final if England are playing but that's my limit.
All that aggression, the fouls, the tantrums and the mass testosterone - I don't get it.
Wimbledon is more my thang.

I've never really been into any sport but have enjoyed Wimbledon this year! There's an outdoor viewing area in my town and it's been a lovely atmosphere to sit on a deck chair with an ice coffee and watch a bit of tennis!

Football free house here, I'm making blackcurrant jam with the blackcurrants I picked this morning - we're going on holiday on Tuesday so I need to do something with them. But do keep being interrupted by football updates on a couple of my WhatsApp groups!

I LOVE homemade blackcurrant jam!

Oo anywhere on the shortlist?

Catnipcupcakes · 14/07/2024 21:33

England scored. Cats are now scared by all the jumping around at the other end of the sofa.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 14/07/2024 21:38

I'm watching but I'm so bored. I love rugby and find football so boring in comparison.

I also fear the flat upstairs might come through my ceiling if England win, they were bad enough when they scored.

Rewindthe · 14/07/2024 21:39

neither dh or I interested, so we did our usual Sunday of a board game and pizza!

@OhMaria2
I'm the same.
Been to Whitby for the day.
Got home at 7pm and had to rush to loo..
My gosh..
Don't know where it came from.
Then l threw up.
Laid in bed going hot and cold.
Looks like I'll be cancelling my psychiatrist appointment tomorrow.
( I've actually got football on but no sound lol).
Hope you feel better soon.

Oh boy, was it something you ate do you think? I'm mystified why I have it, caught ne by surprise! Hope you feel better!

AmyDav · 14/07/2024 21:48

Is quite funny that I know the Tele across the road is about 2 minutes ahead of the one next door based on the times of the eruptions of cheers and swears!

Werweisswohin · 14/07/2024 21:53

I've enjoyed the footie but want it done now lol.....

I think that must have been when someone in our road set of a firework/banger - the cat came hurtling through the catflap :(

Catnipcupcakes · 14/07/2024 21:55

Well they didn’t win. What a waste of time.

Pollydollydoodle · 14/07/2024 21:58

@Thisisntthowisawthisgoing looking for October so needs to be far enough away so it's warm! Canaries or Cape Verde maybe

I went for a walk; it was eerily quiet, I didn't see a single dog walker, and I usually see loads of them at this time.

I really enjoyed the Canaries the few times I've been. Nice weather, good food, easy excursions like a catamaran trip or something if you're into that sort of thing. 90% of my travel has been backpacking/campervan trips but sometimes you just want to sit on a beach, drink sangria and eat paella in the sun!! Canaries are great for that :)

Echobelly · 14/07/2024 22:02

Yes, I've been watching an interesting YouTube video about what a mess the tech industry is in with AI and how this model that everything must be continuous growth isn't matching up with any useful innovation that anyone really wants. DH has footy on in the background but only as he's feeling really tired and can't cope with much, he's not a sports watcher. Was attempting to engage him in looking at some possible airbnbs for us to go to for a few days while kids are on summer camp, but he wasn't in headspace for it.

Isn't that literally always the case?! Another 4 years of talking about 1966...

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/07/2024 22:06

Oh thank god, it’s all over (it is now, lol). Can we all talk about something else now. My (Spanish rescue) dogs are over the moon as you can see from my baby boy below

We went to Sal in October a few years, the mosquitos were the size of wasps and swarmed you as soon as you stepped outside - it may have just been a freak season but I would NOT recommend!

Sorry to everyone who's feeling ill! That sounds awful.

So beautiful. How did the rescue come about?

I had a reaction last night that I didn't expect-after saying that england playing isn't a trigger for me. Rang a friend who helped.

My dog is a 'sort of' rescue, I offered to hand-rear her when I learned that a local (back street) breeder was struggling as a pup had been rejected. I was meant to give her back and I just couldn't do it. She's been absolutely amazing for me, as I live alone and I can feel safe, visit friends at night etc without being afraid.

She doesn't mind football noise but hates fireworks!
