DH and DSs downstairs (one DS at pub with mates!) watching footie. I'm lying on my bed, with the dog scrolling Mumsnet thinking I'll be glad when this is all over!!

I wouldn't have known if one of the spanish youtubers I follow hadn't just mentioned it. no men in this house. And I'm not English. Good day for Spain so far though!

Ruralrecluse · 14/07/2024 21:00

Not watching here. Catching up with The Woman in Black that we missed the other night 😱 😱

Pollydollydoodle · 14/07/2024 20:41

@OhMaria2 hope you're ok.
I'm scrolling looking for a drama to binge watch. Any suggestions? Did insomnia last week, it was fab!

I watched Supacell the othher day, though it was ok- ish then quickly binged the whole series

Any ideas what I can do I've had a row with the hubby over absolute rubbish apparently I'm nagging all the time. He's the type to be funny Naw rest of the night he can be quite stubborn anyone else got a stubborn husband

If you're nagging its because he didn't bother listening the first 10 times. Leave him to it

Chypre · 14/07/2024 21:04

Not watching, sitting in the garden which is very unusually quiet - no cars, no voices, nothing. Bliss.

Heelworkhero · 14/07/2024 21:05

I’m at home, not watching it.
DH has gone to the MIL’s to watch it there. I’m just chilling and enjoying an empty house.
Bliss…….

Oldfatandfrumpy · 14/07/2024 21:06

I'm (re)watching one of my comfort shows, while DH is at the pub with friends

TingeOGinge · 14/07/2024 21:06

Poop...

40somethingme · 14/07/2024 21:09

Not watching, read a book for an hour and now on MN. It’s so quiet everywhere, bliss.

Thisisntthowisawthisgoing · 14/07/2024 21:11

Just given myself a pedicure in an attempt to have a break from a book I'm inhaling but don't want to finish 😂

Honestly the peer pressure to watch this game. Everyone I've seen in the last few days is incredulous that I couldn't give a fig. I don't understand what it is about football that means the majority of fans have to ram it down non fans throats like it's some religion that encourages the conversion of others? I'm very happy for whoever wishes to watch it to carry on and do so, but why does it matter to anyone else what I do? People represent their country in all sorts of sporting events all the time, but when it's England and football it's like the earth should stop rotating for a while in respect of the achievement. It's just all a bit much!!!

Catnipcupcakes · 14/07/2024 21:12

Trying to book a holiday in London for next month now. The logistics are doing my head in.

FionaJT · 14/07/2024 21:13

Football free house here, I'm making blackcurrant jam with the blackcurrants I picked this morning - we're going on holiday on Tuesday so I need to do something with them. But do keep being interrupted by football updates on a couple of my WhatsApp groups!

Catnipcupcakes · 14/07/2024 21:13

And the moaning and groaning has started now that Spain have scored…

Thisoldheartofmine · 14/07/2024 21:14

@Thisisntthowisawthisgoing what are you reading??

wildwoodflour · 14/07/2024 21:15

I have been looking at jobs, desperately trying to dig myself out of the career hole I have put myself into Sad

Football has caused me a lot of stress, trauma and upset.

'D' P is not only football obsessed but has also treated me very badly over it, to the point I really suffered and for a long time it was a word I couldn't even hear or see written down. She's watching it now in her hometown where she lives. I live alone-which I have slowly become more used to, she said she'd move in with me for a long time but has kept stalling and I don't ask now.

I've been for a long (ish) run with my dog earlier, been to the gym, meal prepped for tomorrow and now looked online for jobs. Think I may get a glass of wine soon, stick something on the TV and settle into relaxation. I can hear people from wherever (gardens, pubs, I live in a village) SCREAMING at their screens over this bloody sport. It's unfathomable for me! There's a lovely pub up the road that won't show it tonight, but I couldn't be bothered. Smile

Thisoldheartofmine · 14/07/2024 21:16

@Catnipcupcakes I live in London , what logistics are tricky? Just wondering if I could help.

Moier · 14/07/2024 21:17

@OhMaria2
I'm the same.
Been to Whitby for the day.
Got home at 7pm and had to rush to loo..
My gosh..
Don't know where it came from.
Then l threw up.
Laid in bed going hot and cold.
Looks like I'll be cancelling my psychiatrist appointment tomorrow.
( I've actually got football on but no sound lol).
Hope you feel better soon.

Thisoldheartofmine · 14/07/2024 21:19

@OhMaria2 and@Moier you poor things.
D&V is the pits
Feel better soon I hope.

I find the incredulity so odd. It reminds me a little of when I stopped drinking completely (and I never drank much at all) for a while in my 20s. I didn't care what other people did, but it was like people couldn't get their heads round it.

I don't like sport, I'm not interested, why on earth would I waste my time?!?

hels71 · 14/07/2024 21:21

DD (16) and myself are watching Jeeves and Wooster in DVD and crocheting . We are very happy x

Thisoldheartofmine · 14/07/2024 21:14

@Thisisntthowisawthisgoing what are you reading??

It's the 3rd book of a trilogy which started with The City of Brass. It's a fantasy fiction based on middle eastern mythology. The world the author has created is tremendously detailed but also mixed with many references to our own world that were completely new for me (I didn't know much about Egypt, middle eastern fashions, geography, weapons, foods etc before). She's managed to weave it all together so expertly; I've been genuinely unwilling to put it down, but also trying to make myself take my time! Both to enjoy it but also because it's complicated at times and if I read it too quickly I miss things!

I was going to use that exact example about drinking but thought I'd sound like a right fun sponge. I had much the same experience. I still can't understand why what I choose to drink/not drink, eat/not eat, watch/don't watch has such an affect on how others perceive their own enjoyment!

Calling · 14/07/2024 21:28

I just can't get into it, either. I might see the highlights of a final if England are playing but that's my limit.
All that aggression, the fouls, the tantrums and the mass testosterone - I don't get it.
Wimbledon is more my thang.

RandomUsernameHere · 14/07/2024 21:29

DH and DS are watching football downstairs. DD and I have no interest so are watching a film together in bed!

Biglovemarg · 14/07/2024 21:29

I'm trying to work out how to hire a rug cleaner - for some reason it's beyond me. DH and DD are both out at friend's houses watching football, house is so lovely and quiet.
