I thought long and hard about whether to say “English media” or “British media “ in that post actually.
The four main UK broadsheet newspapers (Guardian, Times, Independent, Telegraph) are all based in England. Scotland has two broadsheets of its own, the Scotsman and the Herald, so it’s a reasonable assumption that they will assume the role of speaking on behalf of the people of Scotland. Not to mention the Daily Record of course. England doesn’t have any solely English national newspapers.
As for the BBC, why would they pander to the minority of British people who find it impossible to be happy for their fellow countries in the Union? Why is it so bad to work in the basis that we like and care about each other? It’s not a party political broadcast where all views have to be presented. Do you also object to the media supporting Team GB at the olympics?
I’m pretty sure that both the BBC and the national papers were pro-Scotland when Scotland were still in. If there had been a Scotland-England tie then they’d have had to be balanced but I don’t see anything wrong in taking a pro-England stance after Scotland were knocked out.
