The landline number that I had for 20 years, through a few house moves within the area. It was a great number, as very easy to remember. Then sadly lost it 5 years ago when we moved out of the area, and now we don't even have a landline.

Thinking hard I also remember the number from our first house, back in the 90s.

My parents' landline number in the house they have lived in for 50 years. They still use the landline by preference although they have mobiles. Mum says she hears better on the landline. Most of their elderly friends are the same, and they chat to each other on the landline frequently. . After their generation is gone, I think landlines will disappear, well they are already being phased out aren't they? As a cost cutting exercise. Too quickly really, some areas don't have decent mobile reception, of course 'they' don't think of that.

Don't remember any others, apart from 999 of course!

I cannot for the life of me remember mobile numbers, too many digits.

Not a home phone number but my Mum got her mobile number in the early 2000’s and still has the same one.
I know it off my heart which was useful as a teen and still useful because I’ve always got the option to phone her and then get her to pass on a message to my husband (or other) if I find myself phone-less.

Speaking of, when you get arrested and are given one phone call, can you check your mobile for a number?
Or would I have to phone my mum if I’m ever detained? Grin

All that being said, I’ve only ever got a 25% chance of her answering her phone anyway so in the event I get arrested I’ll probably get left in the cell for a fortnight before she returns the call.

My DM's. That's it.

As a junior doctor I could remember the telephone extensions and bleep numbers for most of the hospital.

Now I just use an app.

HansHolbein · 04/07/2024 10:22

Just my parents.

YourMommaWasASnowblower · 04/07/2024 10:23

I can only remember my home phone number from when I was a teenager and that’s it! I don’t know anybody’s mobile numbers off by heart or any other numbers.
I used to be great at remembering phone numbers, but that skill has completely died in me since I’ve had a mobile.

CurlewKate · 04/07/2024 10:27

I remember my childhood phone number. 374!

SoundTheSirens · 04/07/2024 10:33

My parents, but they've lived in their house for over 50 years and it was my childhood phone number.

I can also remember my aunt's number from her old house (she doesn't have a landline now).

My now-husband's number from the house he lived in when we first met.

I think that's it. I can also remember my own and my DH's mobile numbers but that's all. Whereas with landlines I know I used to know many more and have now forgotten them, I've never bothered to learn any other mobile numbers.

LadyCrumpet · 04/07/2024 10:43

50! 50! 50!

I only know my mums/childhood home landline.

Knea · 04/07/2024 10:44

I still remember my grans, been over 15 years since the line was active but still often type it in and ring it. Don’t remember my home phone number but do remember a childhood friends number as it had 007 in it and I always thought that was so cool as I was a bond nerd .

DumbassHamsterSitterPerson · 04/07/2024 10:48

I can remember mine and my best friends landline from the 90s. And another landline that's either my Dad or my then boyfriend.

I know mine and my mum's mobiles off by heart. I used to know my Dads and could possibly recall it if i tried hard. I also know the number for the dr surgery, but that's because it's mega easy.

I only know my own mobile number! Couldn’t tell you anyone else’s

Me neither! But with both parents mobile numbers, there's a pattern so I do recognise them if they call my home number.

I remember my parents and grandparents - because of the 2 digit difference.

Sarma · 04/07/2024 11:10

Only my childhood home number. My parents both passed away in the last 2 years and their house sale completed last week. But I can’t bring myself to remove their number from my favourites in my phone

BouleDeSuif · 04/07/2024 11:13

My mother's, my best friend's dad's in 2001, the doctor's surgery and my home phone number in the 80s.

longdistanceclaraclara · 04/07/2024 11:20

I am remember all my childhood home numbers, my best mates and granny who is long gone. I can also remember all our car number plates growing up.

Couldn't tell you what I had for dinner the day before yesterday.

IcouldbutIdontwantto · 04/07/2024 11:22

Yes - I can remember my mums landline as well as that of both my grandparents and one of my aunts. I also know DH's mobile by heart as well... I think that's it.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 04/07/2024 12:22

I remember my landline number growing up, plus other houses I've lived in since when we had a landline and my best friend's landline number from when I was a teen .

We no longer have landline . I know my own mobile number but that's it . I don't even know DH or DS's number . I'm not sure what I'd do if I was stuck somewhere and lost my phone . I'd have to ask someone to email them I suppose as I know their email addresses.

AppleCream · 04/07/2024 12:25

I remember my best school friend's landline number. I left school in 1992 and I doubt I've phoned it since then!

worryworrysuperscurry · 04/07/2024 12:32

Nice phishing exercise

worryworrysuperscurry · 04/07/2024 12:33

Sorry pressed too soon. I didn't mean OP was phishing but this is a common one on social media!

thesugarbumfairy · 04/07/2024 12:34

Yes. I know my landline number now. I don't use it, but I know it.
And my parents landline from when I was a kid, but that's long gone.
And my best friends parents landline from when I was a kid. This was about 36 years ago. I just checked and they still use it :)

worryworrysuperscurry · 04/07/2024 12:35

Oh and I still remember the taxi number from uni, 42 years ago! As well as my childhood phone number which my parents had in one form or another from 1956 until 2013 when my dad died.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/07/2024 12:38

I remember my parents’ current home number. Can’t remember their old one. DH and I have never had a landline.

My dad has had the same mobile number for as long as I can remember. I have that memorised as well as mine and DH’s. Knowing those three numbers means I’ll always be able to contact at least 1 of them, I figure!
