Serves the Tories bloody well right

Makes me furious every time I think about Liz Truss, no dentists, billions spent on PPE contracts to their pals. And mealy mouthed Sunak telling us why we should vote Tory. I used to quite like him but honestly does he just not get it. Latest poll Tories to get just 64 seats. They caused this nobody else.

Predictions can be wrong. If they do lose loads of seats then it is deserved, most certainly, but I wouldn’t bank on it yet.

Look what happened with the brexit referendum

combinationpadlock · 03/07/2024 08:03

I hope to see them thoroughly trounced, and ideally stamped out of existence - it is their ignorance that hurts most! They have no idea what normal life is like!

Don't count any chickens yet though

Rishi is the PM he's not going to be telling you to vote labour is he?
I'm pretty sure Labour will get in but it's not over yet.

Hummingbird75 · 03/07/2024 08:31

You are being very strange. Polls have historically been wrong. It is called the shy tory vote. I am not sure it will be anything like you suggest. I think the lib dems are in for a good night personally.

VoteOutToHelpOut · 03/07/2024 08:36

Mel Stride on LBC this morning basically admitted defeat.

He said that if voters want a strong opposition they need to vote Tory.

Also Braverman has already kicked off the fight for leadership.

Labour will win, it is the size of the majority that is not certain.

Polls that are tight have been wrong, 1992 and Brexit. 2015 perhaps. But these polls are not even approaching tight.

crumblingschools · 03/07/2024 08:40

It’s not great if the Government have such a huge majority as there won’t be enough opposition to defeat any proposals, everything will just get passed

ZoomDoomZoom · 03/07/2024 08:50

People should vote tactically in the Tory / Lib Dems swing seats to vote in Lib dems. We need a strong opposition to keep Labour in check and the Tories aren't suitable for this role. It will be more of the same braying public school boy nonsense but from the opposite side of the house. A return to good old fashioned politics where opposing sides can debate respectfully and get shit done without tantrums is needed.

Fingers crossed she loses her seat then.

Polling prior to the referendum predicted the leave win

oh god, she hasn't has she?
although, I don't know why I am surprised - it seemed that this was always her plan

looking forward to waking up to rainbows, sunshine, unicorns and butterflies Friday morning 😜😜

Well, more like a few years of pain for us all as Labour begin to sort the almighty mess the Tories have made.

I don't know any one who thinks it will be all unicorns and butterflies.

PerkingFaintly · 03/07/2024 09:11

I posted this on another thread, but according to what I've just read:

– All polls give Labour a big lead nationally, but diverge wildly on how many seats that will translate to. Pollsters agree on who is set to win in just 317 of the 631 constituencies in the country.

– Margins are tight. More than 100 constituencies are predicted to be won on 35% of the vote or less. In 2019 that number was 3.

– There’s a time lag in the polls. Constituency-level polling takes weeks, so shifts in voting intention that have taken place in the last few days won’t show up yet.

The result of the Brexit referendum did not come as a surprise to people in leave voting circles or to remainers who actually talked to people outside their own bubble.

HowIrresponsible · 03/07/2024 09:13

This is such a juvenile attitude OP.

Governments change. So would you say serves you bloody right to Labour in 2010 too.

Honestly grow up

The Lib Dems are absolute nutters. The only thing they stand for now is women with penises. I'd rather the Tories held on to enough seats to be the official opposition because the Lib Dems will certainly not hold Labour to account over the things they actually need to be held to account over. And I say that as a former Lib Dem, currently politically homeless voter.

The result of the Brexit referendum came as a surprise to Nigel Farage.

He said he thought Remain had won.

Labour majority, Tory wipeout, Nigel crying in a corner. I can’t wait for Friday morning! 🙌

Moonmelodies · 03/07/2024 09:26

There are plenty of dentists - they just expect to be paid for their services. And will probably continue to do so.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 03/07/2024 09:28

They’re all the same - bunch of crooks. There should be no one political party responsible-that’s what lets them away with murder.

BrigadierEtienneGerard · 03/07/2024 09:42

In my dreams, I'm hoping for a Canadian 1993 style Tory wipe out.

Having said that, the anti-Tory vote is so divided, a minority Tory Govt. would not surprise me.

The polls were so close that neither outcome should have been a surprise to anyone.

But for some reason a lot of people thought remain was a near certainty.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 03/07/2024 09:46

used to quite like him but honestly does he just not get it.

Honestly, his personality and personal affable style is not relevant to his politics.

I feel the same about the decimation they've left. Liz Truss has caused endless problems and much expense for the rest of us, who had to rely on the fact that she had any clue what she was doing.
