That's it really, has your postal vote arrived in time?

You can take a completed postal vote to a polling station.

You cannot vote in person at a polling station if you are registered for a postal vote.

Yes, you can. It says quite clearly in the instructions included with the vote.
You can hand it in at the council office or any polling station in the electoral area before 10pm tomorrow.

Nope. The Council opened up some offices where you could pick your postal ballot up, but unfortunately only after I had left for the holiday that meant I needed a postal ballot in the first place. I only looked at proxy votes once I realised there was a problem and the deadline had passed and emergency proxy votes require specific conditions to be met and not receiving your ballot paper isn’t one of them. I am furious about the whole thing.

Mine arrived on Tuesday afternoon in Germany. I sent it straight back but there’s no way it will make it by Thursday.

You can hand in your postal vote at any polling station in your electoral area.

You cannot be issued with a ballot paper in the polling station.

yes, posted back about a week ago, but we have had postal votes for years. I think the problems are with those who registered quite late.

Nope, I didn't register late, but have no postal vote, despite chasing it up.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 03/07/2024 20:48

Arrived last week posted back yesterday after finding out if I took it to the polling station I'd have to fill in a form.

On the plus side I did read that royal mail will be frequently emptying post boxes tomorrow to retrieve as many postal votes as possible.

Lengokengo · 03/07/2024 20:53

My overseas postal vote arrived 2 weeks ago in the Netherlands. I posted it back 10 days ago, which I hope is enough time.

So sorry for those who haven’t had their votes in time. I have been postal voting for years and it’s already arrived well in time. (London constituency).

If you're registered to vote you can go to the polling station with your ID. You don't need a polling card.

However because you haven't received your postal vote yet, you will need proof it hasn't arrived, which is difficult, because you can't vote twice. If your postal vote arrives tomorrow take it to the polling station, along with ID.

Same we registered as soon as the election was announced because we knew we would be away and we would never not vote if we could help it.

ColourMeBlue · 03/07/2024 23:37

I'm not sure you can take a postal vote to vote in person.I was told you can take it to your local council office and fill a form in,and the council will then take your voting form to the relevant department.I equally could be wrong, but that's what is states on the back of the voting form

JustPleachy · 04/07/2024 01:02

I always have a postal vote because I travel a lot. At the last election DH and I went sling to the polling station with the kids. He voted in the booth, while I handed my postal vote in. I assume it will be the same arrangement for anyone who has the firm in hand. I am going to go along with ID and see if they will allow me to vote in person. I’ll be bloody furious if they don’t.

HarrietWorries · 04/07/2024 10:50

No, and we're fuming. We registered for them on May 25th. I emailed on June 18th to say I hadn't received them. And still nothing.

Shame on you, Fife council.

OliveTheaBough · 04/07/2024 10:50

Yes, safely received and posted away last week
