The chips from this one are not veggy. They are cooked in beef dripping. Very tasty

Fish, chips and gravy. Salt on the fish and chips, gravy separate until it gets home 😊. Drfinitely cooked in beef dripping. Mum and dad had chippies and when we moved from Suffolk to the frozen North it was a complete culture shock!
Gone were the multiple dudferent types of fish, beef dripping and battered sausages and saveloys. In came just cod, gravy, curry, peas and pies, no beef dripping in sight l!!!!

Always pick up so we know it’s as fresh as it can be and we see the fish going in fresh too. Nearly £30!

DH still talks longingly of the chips with beef salt he got in Hull when he was there with work over 20 years ago.

As far as I can work out, it sounds like the beef salt must be pulverised oxo cubes.

Any Hull natives able to confirm?

A snack box (chicken and chips. I want a chicken thigh). Garlic mushrooms and gravy ideally but Irish curry sauce will do instead.

Oh gawd now I am hungry! I had fish the other day and it was amazing but all cooked in a pot over a fire on the beach. I would kill for a belfast one.. I would have a nice big bit of cod, and a belfast pastie.Maybe a few chips, but the pastie would be the star of the show for me. This thread just had me try and find a recipe for pasties , so I am going to try to cook it at home when this hurricane and the next are past us lol. If I was in Canada at my daughters, I would have a cod dinner with fresh cut chips. This is fish and chips dominican style. 2 whole fried red snapper, 6 large mussels , 8 garlic shrimp, blackened haddock (oh my god it was good) and two large pc of grouper. tostones and fresh veg seasoned so well. This plus 1 bottle beer and 1 glass wine, 2 bottles of water (for the dogs).. the equivalent of just under 24 quid. (this was enough to stuff myself, my husband and the two big mutts ate some also)

I love fish but don’t really like chippy fish apart from if it’s from one very specific chippy. It’s tucked away in a little fishing harbour and it’s absolutely gorgeous!
