Does anybody make coloured duvets?

Hi,

I just had an idea and I wondered if I could put it out for consideration?

I wash duvets in our house at least once a week, for various reasons. I have discovered that this is easy if I use summer ones which are quite thin and so fit easily in the washing machine. In winter we just put two on the beds for extra warmth.

However, the tricky part is that it's a major faff taking the duvet covers off and putting them back on again. It also seems a bit pointless when it's so easy to just wash the actual duvet.

It just occurred to me that it would be really great if somebody sold coloured duvets, perhaps in navy blue. Then I wouldn't need a duvet cover at all and could just use the duvet like a quilt.

I wondered if anybody had ever seen those sold, or if any company would like to start making them. I would be joining and orderly queue to buy some if they did.

Thanks!

@S0livagant both, on the line usually an hour ish, indoors in winter a couple of hours I've never had any issues with not drying mine is the George one I linked earlier.

I think I will call a halt here, at least for myself, as people are joining now who haven't read the whole thread. Thank you very much all the tips. This has been great!

fungipie I guess you are young and fit?!
I would have said the same 30 years ago - sadly wrestling with duvet covers and arthritis is tricky - make life easy as possible is my motto! I don’t have a tumble dryer so it dries outside on dry days and on an airer indoors if raining. So no extra cost or time involved

I have a top sheet, then have the duvet on top of that. As it’s not next to your body it doesn’t need washing so often, i just wash the sheets.

The grey £16 one is so nice we've got a few and a couple of teddy ones. Will invest in more expensive ones towards end of summer (not that we're getting much of one) / back to school time now that we know they work for us.

I once read a letter from sommeone who stated that when she bought duvet covers, she undid the seams and sewed velcro on the sides, to avoid the hassle of changing them.
I haven't done this yet, tho considering similar options.
I definitely do not wash the duvets each week, but at my age, I also find that changing them is a bit of a struggle.

I have a night lark duvet and it's lovely. I have to say I still put a duvet cover on it. However I know the option is there to not have to if I can't be arsed to make the bed
