Is Wednesday the worst weekday to have as a non working day?

Due to childminder availability it’s looking like Wednesday will have to be my NWD. I work in the public sector so not sure what that means for my bank holidays. I am planning to do 90% of my hours over 4 days.

My ideal day off would’ve been a Monday. If anyone has Wednesday off, what’s it like?

I have Wednesdays off and I love it, never in work more than two days, never more than two days away from a day off/weekend. Breaks up the week. Wednesday is my day with my DC and feels like a proper day off

You can always take more annual leave in a bank holiday week to avoid "wasting" the bank holiday day. Allocate your annual leave days and see many normal days of AL you will have leftover. In 2024 Christmas Day and NYD will fall on your NWD.

You will also never struggle to find childcare on Mondays or Fridays

Like many others, I used to love having Wednesdays off, I did not ever get impossibly tired when I only had to work 2 days at a time.

I also found it worked well for various chores, ie I made 2 packed lunches on Sundays and onWednesdays, and never had to do them in the evening after work.

I do Wednesdays. Breaks up the week and unlike Mondays, everywhere is OPEN.

I love it and prefer it to having a Mon or Fri like the rest of the world.

Wednesday is THE best day to have off. You only ever work 2 days without a break. Plus bank holidays are always on a Monday so you keep them plus Good Friday.

I used to have Wednesday as my free day. Went to another town, did an art class and had lunch and a mooch. Mid week holiday.

Years ago I was made to change my day off from Monday to Wednesday, I ended up loving it.

Another vote for Wednesday as nwd. Only ever work 2 days then off.

Wednesday is my NWD. I love it! It means I never work more than 2 days in a row 😊
