Recently I read a tip on here that Aldi dishwasher tablets were good ( numerous mumsneters said this) so I bought some think they were £3.99 in a silver packet. They are amazing!!! My dishes/glasses come out sparkling clean and fab even after a short wash.

So my question is what has mumsnet done to improve your life?

I will think of more

Ha! I bought a pack of those yesterday, for the same reason! I haven't started it yet, but it's good to hear that you're pleased with them. It'll save me a small fortune over the Fairy Platinum Plus ones I normally buy, if these work well.

Bluebellsinthewind · 26/06/2024 22:44

@saraclara it was the fairy platinum ones we always used. Thought I would take a punt on the mumsnet recommendations and over the moon with them. My dishes/glasses are coming out more sparkling and clean than the fairy ones. Run to your kitchen and try them out ASAP Grin

Someone recommended taking a small towel to stand on when getting dry after going swimming. So simple but life changing!! Grin

saraclara · 26/06/2024 22:51

Dammit. Today's dishwasher cycle has just finished!

But yep, tomorrow I'll put aside the last three Fairy capsules, and open the Aldi pack with reverence!

Bluebellsinthewind · 26/06/2024 22:54

@saraclara let me know what you think.

@LouLou198 shut the front door!!! That's a game changer. Thank you. Me and dd hate standing on the changing room floors after swimming. We will definitely try this out.

The bedding one really helped me. Fold and stack the bed sheet, duvet cover and pillowcase then put them inside the other matching pillowcase. I fold the pillowcase in half and tuck the end in but that's just me.
No more digging through the airing cupboard looking for the matching set.

Bluebellsinthewind · 26/06/2024 23:34

@FranklySonImTheGaffer Oh that sounds good and such a time saver. Do all the sheets etc come out smelling good/fresh? Not being rude just curious if they smell fine after being bundled away.

We bought a derelict property and on MN, I found out that there was a little know tax reduction I could claim for renovating it to a livable state. We ended up saving several thousand overall overall!

Miele have a factory outlet list which changes daily with great savings.

Lidl sell florentines at Christmas which are delicious 😋

Bluebellsinthewind · 26/06/2024 23:44

@JC03745 wow that's fantastic.

Gosh I've learned loads on here, none of which immediately spring to mind but I'll be back!!

I was thinking the same. I had to edit my post above because I thought of more things. I've actually feel I've learnt more on MN in the few years I've been on here, than 40+yrs in real life! 😂

Bluebellsinthewind · 27/06/2024 00:00

I was the same. Been on here years and yet the only thing that I could think of was the aldi dishwasher tablets from a recent post 😂

I know mumsnet has gave me so much more 😂

I've nerver had an issue with the sets @Bluebellsinthewind

Trying to think of other things. MN probably helped me realise that it's good to have at least a vague plan for the future (career goals, financial planning etc) rather than just sort of coasting through.

Also, washing clothes then drying them on hangers. Saves ironing and takes away the job of hanging them up, folding them putting away.

Leaving Lasagna for 30 mins before cutting. My lasagna now looks up to restaurants standards rather than a splodgy mess!!

StripedTomatoes · 27/06/2024 00:10

You can cut pizza with the kitchen scissors.

MoonWoman69 · 27/06/2024 00:16

I don't really like kiwi fruit, but someone on a thread mentioned golden kiwis... They are my new favourite fruit!!! You can eat the skin, which is quite tart, but it matches the sweetness of the fruit inside! Not exactly a game changer, but there aren't many fruits I like and I love these!

JC03745 · 27/06/2024 00:36

@MoonWoman69 I was about to come on to say that I'd read on here that some people eat the furry skin of kiwis! I too prefer the yellow ones, but the skins aren't appealing to me- but each to their own! 😝

I found out that some people walk upstairs like a dog on all fours!

Some people eat whole apples- seed (which contain arsenic) stalk and all!

treacledan71 · 27/06/2024 01:00

I always give this tip but I think I got it originally from mumsnet anyway which is to prick things like swede and sweet potato and microwave whole until soft snd then it's easier to chop and get the skin off. I also now sometimes do it with carrots but leave the skin on and chop as carrots can take forever in casseroles etc

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 27/06/2024 01:18

I've always done this. Plus wear flip flops to walk from the changing rooms to the pool. Nothing worse than needing to go and pee and having to walk on a wet toilet floor in bare feet

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 27/06/2024 01:24

If you alternate the layers of pasta sheets that helps too. So do the first layer horizontal, the second layer vertical and just keep repeating the pattern until you run out of sheets. Still leave it to stand before slicing into it though.

Me!! But only when I go round to my Mums house. I've always done it ever since I was little. The staircase goes up straight then has a bit of a landing and then 3 more stairs to the left of it. I pelt up on all fours, until i reach the top then leap up the other 3 steps. I do come down them like a normal person though. Although when I was younger I'd slide back down them headfirst, and they are the only stairs I do run up on all fours.

Pudmyboy · 27/06/2024 02:18

I have a Vileda spray mop with washable pads and bought some spare pads off the internet, so I didn't have to wash the used one immediately and my mop would always be ready to use.
I used to dry the floor with a towel after cleaning, but then read on here that someone puts on a dry pad on the mop to dry the floor: a really simple and effective tip and easy as I bought spares!

Got my business idea on here when pondering going back to work. Just out earned Dh this year.

PoopingAllTheWay · 27/06/2024 03:02

Yep, they are the only ones i use

EnglishBluebell · 27/06/2024 03:25

I am prescribed transdermal medication (slow release Buprenorphine for pain) and they come off so bloody easily. I was at my wits END. They're controlled medication (I have to sign a disclaimer for each prescription) so understandably, I'm only given enough for the month with no spares.
I'd tried PICC line covers, support bandages, that white paper medical tape stuff, film dressing covers, everything, but NOTHING worked. It was seriously ruling my life because without a way to keep the patch on I genuinely cannot walk.....
I saw somebody had posted asking for help with the exact same issue (but for a different sort of patch) and one poster had suggested PT tape (Kiniesology tape) and my goddddd it WORKS! I cannot express how much it's changed my life. Honestly. I can literally walk better now because of Mumsnet!!!

Awaiting troll hunters to accuse me of lying 🤥
