What happens to you when you stop breastfeeding

I’ve been either pregnant or breastfeeding continuously for the last 6years. Just wondering what to expect when I stop breastfeeding. Are there any (hopefully positive) symptoms of stopping breastfeeding. Was hoping for more energy but google says migraines and acne 🫣

Breastfeed for 4 Years, my boobs shrunk but my body did too! Very happy with the non intentional weight loss Grin

Each time I've been quite down for a couple of months - I think the hormone shift is major and not talked about enough. It was a surprise to me!

Can I ask how long you felt down for? I’m only 2 weeks in and feel so low, thinking of going to the GP as it’s affecting the way I am with my daughter - I have no patience, so irritable and takes a while for me to feel any empathy for her when she’s upset. I’ve never been like this and it’s shocked me how different I am.

I was at it for 6 years too (with a little break while pregnant with DS2), main things is my boots got smaller.

Come to think of it though, I think I have got more hormonal migraines since I stopped breastfeeding DS2.

I was obviously talking about my breasts, although I was lucky and never had the whole pregnancy making your feet bigger thing!

I was the opposite. I put on weight very quickly both times I stopped. I clearly didn't decrease my calorie intake and my body was no longer burning so much to make milk. Once my boobs settled down - about 2 weeks for one and about 2 days for the other child I didn't notice any symptoms.

Agree with PP about just not caring about BFing anymore - I was so passionate and a peer supporter etc. I don’t know if it’s just hindsight or whatever but I really don’t think it’s as important as I used to. Couldn’t care less.

I enjoyed the cleanliness of no milk and the bodily autonomy when I stopped.

Mildly achy breasts for a couple of days, but massively outweighed by the elation of no longer being chomped on!
