An election one. We locally, currently, have a Tory MP, historically my area switches its political allegiances with each election. So with this in view I have been interested in seeing what each of the parties has to offer, before I decide who to vote for.
So I've had leaflets and visits from representatives from the Lib Dems and the Labour party, but nothing from the Conservatives. I've heard from a friend who lives in another constituency, a similar story, although she had an email (supposedly from Rishi) telling her why she should vote for them.
I am interested of other peoples experiences, have the Conservatives given up on campaigning?

tiggergoesbounce · 25/06/2024 14:17

Labour have been around here, but I haven't had any other visits.

PercyGherkin · 25/06/2024 14:18

Our constituency is long standing Tory but at risk from the Lib Dems. We have had a deluge of pamphlets and letters from both (more from LD, but still plenty) and the Conservative candidate knocked on the door too. I missed him by five min and was gutted DH had told him to bog off. I had so much to say!

Chasingsquirrels · 25/06/2024 14:19

The Lib Dem candidate has been round, plus has leafleted separately.

I haven't seen any other candidates.

I've had the Conservatives and Labour round and leaflets from those plus the Lib Dems, some independent one and bloody Reform.

The area has been Tory forever by a big margin.

pinkgin79 · 25/06/2024 14:20

I haven't had any just some labour leaflets posted through the door. I'd like a
chat with them as I'm really interested in what they're doing for health and social care and education.

Thegreatgiginthesky · 25/06/2024 14:21

8 lib dem leaflets and 3 tory leaflets. It could go either way here although rather worryingly most house with signs up are for reform.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 25/06/2024 14:22

The Tory candidate came round, he is actually a decent chap. Labour sent one of the councillors round (have never seen her come round before).

I want the Tory candidate to win because he's actually a good mp and it would be a shame to see him go.

KStockHERO · 25/06/2024 14:25

I've had Labour and Lib Dem leaflets through the door. I'm in a very safe Labour seat so Conservatives don't usually bother their arses with any sort of campaigning around here.

I think I'm on Labour blacklist because they were door knocking the other day and missed me out completely. Me and DP have been giving them grief about women's rights since the 2018 local council elections so I think they know our house is a lost cause.

Girlwithapple · 25/06/2024 14:26

We've had probably around 10 different tory and 10 different labour leaflets here. A labour woman knocked on the door to talk to me apparently but I was at work. We've had one leaflet from the lib dem guy, who doesn't live in this area. We've had one leaflet from the green party. We have 2 independent candidates and have had nothing from them. We have a door camera so would know if any other candidates had been round for a chat!

We've also had a reform leaflet, I nearly forgot about that one 😅

Caffeineneedednow · 25/06/2024 14:28

I live in a strong labour hold but the only leaflet we have had through is from reform 🤮 so don't know if conservatives have given up ( probably) and Labour are just not wasting their time for a seat they will almost definetly win.

TomatoSandwiches · 25/06/2024 14:31

Lib dem and Labour leaflets, nothing from the Conservatives.
No knocks from anyone though, which is decidedly different from previous elections.

spuddy4 · 25/06/2024 14:33

Reform, Lib Dem's and Plaid have been out in my area. The labour one won't bother because he knows his seat is safe and he doesn't have to try, the conservatives don't bother for exactly the same reason.

mimbleandlittlemy · 25/06/2024 14:34

Long standing Conservative area here, but boundary changes have made it a key marginal as far as the seat is concerned, and it would get rid of a Cabinet member if they lost. So far visited by the Labour candidate, no other candidates have been round and we've had one, very small, Conservative leaflet with not sight nor sound of our (really, really not) esteemed MP. Feels like they might have given up hope, either that or they are really hitting the areas that are still in the boundary and they think they will win if they can get those bits to carry on voting for them. We shall see.

nbee84 · 25/06/2024 14:35

I had a 5 minute chat with Grant Shapps last night. He's been out in his Welwyn Hatfield area quite regularly.

Ginkypig · 25/06/2024 14:41

Leaflets through the door and one car driving around blasting music from speakers on the roof which looked to be a political party car but no knocks on the door from anyone

alloalloallo · 25/06/2024 14:42

I live in an area which is traditionally very Conservative. You could put a blue rosette on a trifle and people would vote for it.

I have seen a tonne of Labour and Reform posters around, but not much Conservative stuff this year.

I’ve had leaflets from Labour and Lib Dem, but nothing from Conservatives.

Our Labour candidate is a local, lives down my road, runs a business in town, has kids in the schools, etc, so you see him out and about loads, he always goes to loads of local events and stuff like that. Our Conservative MP doesn’t live in the area at all and rarely graces us with his presence

We've had some changes to our constituency this year so it will be interesting to see what impact it has on voting.

PotOfTulips · 25/06/2024 14:44

No knocks on door, and I'd be aware if they had as I work from home.
However I'm more annoyed that I wrote an email to my candidates for Labour and for Conservative, neither has replied.

TokyoSushi · 25/06/2024 14:46

One Conservative and 1 Labour leaflet here, nothing else and no signs around. We switch from Labour to Conservative and back again fairly often in this constituency but I think we're pretty certain to go Labour this time.

Our current MP is actually quite good, but as he's Conservative, he pretty much has to go.

CMOTDibbler · 25/06/2024 14:47

Tory (we've lived here since 2007 and shes had the seat all the time we've been here and it is her first ever appearance) and LibDem. The libdem candidate has been incredible as a local councillor and is very popular.
The labour candidate lives 150 miles away and no sign of any campaigning at all

VoteLabour · 25/06/2024 14:49

I've had two knock on the door, Labour and the Workers Party. The Workers Party candidate is local and seemed genuine.
The Labour candidate is the incumbent, and seems fine.

The constituency has had a Labour MP for decades. The other candidates seem weak and there has been no sign of campaigning, not even a leaflet or poster.

Churchview · 25/06/2024 14:58

Leaflets through the postal system from Tory, Lib Dem and Reform.

Interestingly the Reform one was generic bumpf, not mention of our local candidate, not even his name.

The Labour candidate visited in person on Saturday evening, had a chat and left his leaflet.

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/06/2024 15:11

We had a flyer from the Lib Dem, but nothing from anyone else. Boundary changes have meant a move to a different constituency. The incumbent is Gillian Keegan, so I’m sure she’ll be re elected. The Con MP for the constituency we were in, stood down and no one knows anything about the new candidate. Thats been Tory forever too, but I reckon if the new person doesn’t make him or herself known, that could change.

YellowHairband · 25/06/2024 15:20

We've had leaflets from Labour, Tory, and a very persistent independent.

The constituency is Tory but likely to go labour. The Lib Dems did well at the local elections on some specific local issues and are trying to kid themselves that this means they are the only people who can beat the Tories here.

We've not had anything from the Tories.

incessantpunditry · 25/06/2024 15:25

We had a knock on the door earlier. It was our MP. We shook his hand and told him that he would be getting our vote. He's a really nice decent chap who actually lives in our town.

KimberleyClark · 25/06/2024 15:25

Have had a leaflet through the door from the sitting Labour MP and that’s it. Even the Conservative Club round the corner don’t have a billboard up outside as they usually do which I think is rather telling.
