What are your thoughts on acupuncture? Does it work or is it just quack medicine?

I'm talking so called 'medical' acupuncture that some GPs and physios advocate.

I'm really undecided.. my professional life tells me it's probably unfounded but on the other hand why would something that's been around for thousands of years not have been forgotten if it didn't work?

Has it worked for you?

Hi all, just a word of advice for those trying acupuncture for fertility. I went to the Everwell clinic in Chinatown for what I thought would be a highly respected practice but its absolutely awful and one to avoid. They try and upsell you into paying for a course without discussing anything with you first and you really feel the pressure, when you're meant to be trying to reduce stress. I've been in severe pain during a number of the sessions and hoping this post will help others avoid this!

Oh god yeah don't do this! Go to a separate practitioner, when I mentioned a year ago it was for fertility (& stress) it came from a friends recommendation, not because she conceived but just the relaxation aspect, don't pay mad money & mental heartbreak for some clinic making promises they can't keep

A bit arrogant to describe something as 'quack medicine' when it has been part of traditional medicine in non western countries for centuries...

It's amazing and non invasive. Back in the day it was even recommended as a treatment for PMS by my GP. And it did help. I have regular visits to a local acupuncturist who has been studying and working in the field for 30 years +
He also has special sessions for those who can't afford the full fee. I really utterly zone out and feel so rested afterwards. A PP is correct, it hasn't been around for thousands of years if it only worked as a placebo.
Highly recommend !

I swear to this day I have never felt so relaxed afterwards, so whether it's for fertility or stress or whatever I'd highly recommend it, I'm going back to Delores again after school in June
