Once it hits a certain temperature why do men have to take their tops off?!

I mean, everyone else copes but no the poor man has to show he’s extra hot by taking off his top

I know

Unless you're in perfect shape do not take your top off

Just distasteful

Verv · 21/06/2024 16:41

Suns out guns out.

coxesorangepippin · 21/06/2024 16:42

This lunchtime there was a man (think Bernard Manning) in the pub garden showing off his hairy nipples which had 'mild' and 'bitter' tattooed underneath them.

It doesn't actually make much sense because 1 light layer of clothing actually provides some shade for you skin whereas bare skin means you withstand more of the rays (the UV ones that burn you and the infrared ones that make you warm). So most of the time, being bare skinned in the heat makes you feel more hot.

I'm a woman, but I suspect in some cases at least, it's more to do with not having brought out a spare t-shirt and being faced with the choice of being out in a soaking wet t-shirt dripping with sweat or taking it off.

Neither option is fun and other people's sweat is gross, but as someone who's gone through several tops today through rushing about and getting quite sweaty, I can see why a man might choose to ditch the t-shirt rather than walk around soaking wet.

Boomer55 · 21/06/2024 17:11

The same reason as some women, regardless of age or shape, choose to over expose their bodies to a wider public, I imagine. 🤷‍♀️

Fuelled by football fever as well at the minute. It's no different to flashing really, or that wanking in public thread, asserting their masculinity over the public. Nobody really wants to see it.

Oh do be serious, it's a world away from wanking in public.

Don't understand why people get worked up about it, it's just a human body FGS.

Chipping Norton??

Now picturing Lord Dave Cameron of Chipping Norton all day cider drinking with livid sunburn and a knotted union jack hanky on his head.

scrapsontheside · 21/06/2024 16:25

Also it's not ever hot yet, today I wore leggings a sweatshirt and a denim jacket!

@scrapsontheside

deoends where you live really. It's been a beautiful day here and around 25°.

Icantpaint · 21/06/2024 15:38

Interesting
men in hot weather should only take clothes off to cool down if they’re tanned and muscular. Otherwise they should stay covered up?

No it would be nice if everyone could cover their tops up please. It's a sun safety thing and also it keeps them clean.

scrapsontheside · 21/06/2024 17:31

@AmelieTaylor 24° where I am

LoobyDoop2 · 21/06/2024 18:38

It’s mostly the men who wear football shirts the rest of the time, so presumably that nylon gets very very sweaty and uncomfortable.

LlynTegid · 21/06/2024 18:50

Go to France and this does not happen. The French have some style.

Where it would be unacceptable for a woman to be topless same should apply to men.

Ispywithmylittlepie · 21/06/2024 19:04

"asserting their masculinity over the public"
@MateysMusing comment of the day for me.

I can remember the under boob trend, where the bottom of the tits would pop out of a cropped top. Just why the fuck would you? Same goes for men with tops off. Just stop it.

Blimpton · 21/06/2024 19:17

It’s not all men to be fair. Just the lower class ones.

MartyFunkhouser · 21/06/2024 19:21

It’s very skanky. Should be ‘no tops, no service’ in shops.

Our local council estate co-op always has some revolting scrote shopping with no top on as soon as warm weather appears.

We have a holiday place in Florida. It’s properly hot there, obvs. You would never, ever see a guy shopping with no top on.

pancakestastelikecrepe · 21/06/2024 19:24

Men,
"It's not that hot, and neither are you. Put your top on"

RightOnTheEdge · 21/06/2024 19:31

I work in a pub and twice today I've had to tell men to put their tops on.
No top, they have to leave, even in the beer garden. No one wants to see it!

Although when I went to wash my hands in the ladies, there was a woman in tiny shorts leaning over the sink with her bum cheeks hanging out and that certainly wasn't a sight I wanted to see either.

I get sweaty under there so sounds good to me

Na na na nana naaaah!

SprinkleOfSunak · 21/06/2024 20:07

I’ve always hated this too. I always find it a bit intimidating.

I properly snorted.

Hoppinggreen · 22/06/2024 11:01

I have an Italian friend who moved here last October so she hadn't experienced English "summer". The first time we had any warm weather this year she messaged me to ask why there were lots of fat pasty men walking around naked.
She says she was really happy to finally see some sun here but now she's not so sure.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 22/06/2024 11:53

I absolutely hate it. It looks pathetic. As a large bosomed woman permanently in a structured bra it gives me the rage. If I can tolerate the heat so can you.

Same goes for women walking around half naked too, I genuinely think those shorts with the bit that goes up your bum should not be allowed in public. But then I feel we should have higher standards in public in general, walking around in PJs isn't OK either in my book.

In many hotter counties even very liberal ones, there are basic requirements, no beach clothes in restaurants etc. I don't see why shopping centres or public transport can't have stricter policies here.

Newgirls · 22/06/2024 11:58

It’s very basic behaviour isn’t it. Showing their monkey origins. Fine for beach only imo
