I have two bins (my basement used to be a flat) and I’ve never used both and I’ve put a makeshift lock on one but you can still open the lid a tiny amount.

It was empty and I’ve put it far back on the property. Went to move it today and found bags of dog poo in it. It’s not anywhere near the pavement! So someone has snooped around and repeatedly put their dog poo in it.

I had one weird lady (we have houses with the same layout) kept coming over to ask to look around my house as I’d changed the standard layout when I renovated it. Fine the first couple of times but by the third time it was just odd.

@Thepossibility omg this rings a bell, was she called Mad Rose?? Think I've met her 🤣

I can't remember her name, she was an Italian lady with very broken English. Hilariously batty lady!

My current neighbour is completely nuts. We're in terraced housing and we hear them slamming doors/hoovering/arguing all the time, often at unreasonable hours of the night, but if they hear our toddler's footsteps for more than 3 seconds during the day they bang aggressively on the wall. They've never come to talk to us about noise, it's just extremely angry banging whenever they hear us doing normal things like walking around/cooking in the kitchen etc.

The thing they do that is actually crazy is moving their car forward a foot or two every night at some point after 10pm. I think it's an attempt to wake the baby as some kind of payback for our 'noisy' toddler. They've done this car moving at 11pm, 1am, 445am etc in the past and it's just really odd behaviour. Thankfully the baby isn't bothered!

A neighbour on my street wasn’t happy that her next door neighbours garden was slightly untidy. He refused her offer of help to tidy the garden. When he was away she put a gate into their boundary fence and would use it to tidy his garden when he wasn’t there! The man ended up moving, a new woman moved in and put up her own fence with her boundary so now there are two fences.
The neighbour on the other side of ‘garden gate lady’ sadly passed away. While the probate was being sorted the garden became over grown so ‘garden gate lady’ installed a gate between them to keep it tidy. That house is now being renovated and I doubt the new owners will want to keep the gate!

This thread is hilarious & disturbing at the same time 😂. I've had a few odd neighbours but not that batty. One neighbour and his reclusive partner/wife would walk round the block together at 3am in long green stalking type macs, wellies, hoods, gloves and night vision goggles in London. Another neighbour alerted me to this as she worked shifts. I only ever saw them once when I couldn't sleep one night. I think maybe in hindsight the wife coul d have had MH problems. Maybe agoraphobia.
Had a dominatrix at some flats I lived in. The whacks and yells were funny. She was lovely. Neighbours couldn't care less, she was no trouble & low key, apart from a bit of sound effects. No din at night.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 18/06/2024 12:55

My utterly unhinged neighbour threw stones over the back fence aiming at the kids pool because it wasn't fair she didn't have one for her kids. She's poured salt on my plants, encouraged her 11 year old to kick his ball at our door/garden/planters- because I ONCE asked her son to please shut my gate after he had been in my garden and then posted on facebook that she must protect her kids! They just want to have fun being kids! She screams and shouts and repeatedly slams doors for about 30 minutes a time on a night- like stands at the same door banging it over and over.
She says the most horrible things about all the neighbours (me included) to everyone she sees. She threatened to set fire to one neighbours house- loudly and publicly in the street for literally no reason.
She badmouthed the most patient and reasonable person iv ever met, also a neighbour but a bit further up, so bad that reasonable neighbour called her a bitch, and unhinged neighbour burst into tears.
She accused me of having rats, phoned the council on me and posted on Facebook that I had rats- I did not have rats.
She just had baby number 3, she couldn't get a taxi and they wouldn't send an ambulance, so my partner took her and her husband to the hospital when she was in labour, I sat with her other 2 kids till their grandad came to pick them up- she posted on Facebook shit about her neighbours being fucking nasty bastards that wouldn't help her.
Has 'borrowed money repeatedly and not paid it back- from me and a couple of other neighbours!
She sends her husband to shout and threaten anybody that she's decided has pissed her off today.
She comes out to the front garden whenever another neighbour is outside, shouting that the other neighbour is a slag, a druggie and needs 'the social' calling on her (other neighbour is neither of these things and is a lovely mum)
I could write a literal book on everything over the past 10 years, I absolutely despise living next to her. I'm so bloody live and let live, but I'm not sure how much longer i can take it.

Our downstairs neighbour, in a small block of flats, enjoyed flashing any males that came to the flats. He had an elaborate set up of mirrors so he could spot when a male was approaching, and he could take up his position in front of the window. Other than that he was a lovely man, though it was v annoying when we stopped getting parcels as the delivery drivers stopped coming.

Has no one reported her to SS?

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 18/06/2024 14:20

I've posted several times in the past about my unhinged ex-neighbour, but just remembered an incident with another neighbour.

Neighbour lived opposite the end of our cul-de-sac and I'd never met/spoken with her before. Seemed normal and her partner always waved and said hi when walking past with his dog.
Came back home one day, parked car in front of house as normal, noticed a huge 4x4 on other side of my drive where arsehole neighbour attached to my house usually parked (she didn't like blocking the view from her own house 🙄).
Got my newborn out of the car and neighbour came flying across road in a rage. She was screaming and shouting about being able to park where she felt like, hurling all sorts of abuse. I had no idea what she was talking about and then she started shouting about how she knew it was that woman with the massive fucking dogs. (I don't have dogs).
Screamed at me that I could just park somewhere else, completely missing the point that we were already parked in front of our own house so it made no difference where she was parked.

Seems arsehole neighbour had left a note on other neighbour's car to tell her to park on her own road and I'd got the brunt of the anger. No apology of course and didn't give a shit that she'd been screaming at full volume in front of a newborn. She never bothered to speak to me again before we moved 😂
It was the complete overreaction that blew me away - just no need for that level of anger at all.

RaraRachael · 18/06/2024 14:49

OH smokes )yes, disgusting I know) but only ever at our back gate which does not affect anyone whatsoever. He once had a broken ankle so couldn't manage up the steps to the back door so had a quick one at the front door. Neighbour came storming out saying "Stop doing that right now etc"

Following week, her BiL was up staying with them and was smoking at their front door, as was their SiL when he came up. When I pointed out their hypocrisy, all I got was "Give over" repeated over and over again in my face.

BeachRide · 18/06/2024 14:52

Mad neighbour put cat repellant on my doorstep not hers because she didn't like the smell. They were my cats!

Cattery · 18/06/2024 14:56

One sat on his doorstep watching whilst he burnt a mattress on his drive. Classy

TheCadoganArms · 18/06/2024 15:14

I used to live in a flat in west London and my neighbour downstairs was a young woman who liked to go clubbing till the wee hours. She was quiet as a mouse as a neighbour but the problem was that I kept on finding her asleep on the floor in the communal area most weekend mornings after a night on the razzle. It always seemed odd to me that despite being pissed out of her brains and doing the hard yards of getting home she could never get over the final hurdle of getting her keys in the door and into her flat. At the time I was quite into my distance running and would be getting up early at weekends to rattle off a 3 hour plus run and would find her curled up in a ball asleep like a cat. It did not seem right to just step over her so it got to the point where I would open her flat door and carry her onto the sofa and put a blanket over her and go on my run. We had this weird routine for about a year before I moved out.

BresciaBike · 18/06/2024 15:50

@TheCadoganArms I'm just waiting for an MNer to come along and post about the weird neighbour she had who used to pick her up and pop her on the sofa when she was steaming... 😂😂 it's a weird yet cute story

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 18/06/2024 16:10

@alrightluv she already has support from social services, so no worries there

LadyRain · 18/06/2024 17:59

I have a real batshit one…

One was a lady up the road from us when I was little. She lived alone with her husband and had never had children. They used to come out with sweets for us and wave to us when she saw us. They used to have a paddling pool in their garden and invite us to play, so we did- I didn’t tell my mum. Then one day she asked me if I wanted to stay the night at her house? I asked my mum and my mum said no. My friends mum also said no. I was only 8.

When we told her we couldn’t stay, it was like a lightbulb had switched. She would shout abuse at me and my friend when we walked by her house. She would call the police on us randomly- she once called the police to say that we had smashed her back window with a ball? It was when I was on holiday in France. The police turned up to my empty house. Following that, it was years of her standing outside our house for ages, she once stood at our primary school gate. Police never did anything as she was old (early 70’s) “causing no real harm”

It carried on until I was sixteen and she eventually died. My mum worked at the local hospital as a receptionist and she went in and told everyone at my mums work I’d had an abortion and buried the baby in the garden! It was honestly the worst 8 years of my life just from a rejected sleepover? she also did the same to my friend.

Another girl in our neighbourhood did actually sleep at her house often (parents were neglectful) and she later told us that she was sexually abused by this woman and her husband. I imagine that’s what she had planned for us!

im SO relieved she’s dead.

It is weird in hindsight but seemed normal at the time. She was not some random, we had both swapped flat keys for emergencies, I looked after her cat when she was away, she watered my plants when I was away. It was funny, but equally I felt she was putting herself a massive risk getting that mashed and travelling home alone. This was pre uber days so it was either a rare black cab or take your chances with a dodgy cab or run the gauntlet with a night bus. When I got back from my run I would occasional find at my front door a Danish pastry and a thankyou note. Just what I needed after running 18 miles.

I moved into a ground floor flat and ndn seemed OK. She asked me if i could clean out her canary every weekend as she was scared of it. But it matched her kitchen so her bf had bought her it.

At least she was thinking of the animals welfare I suppose.

Gettingnowhereagain · 24/08/2024 20:09

My NDN used to put chicken on tin foil next to her gate to try to encourage my cats into her garden so she could say they'd scratched her gates( They didnt). She used to phone the council putting in really pathetic false complaints to try to get me evicted because she wanted the council house for her daughter. She also used to try to get my NDN on the other side evicted by phoning the council putting in(false) complaints about them but giving my name and address. She was too stupid to realise the council would contact me to get it in writing or so they could come speak to me. I told the council what she was doing and they said she was always phoning complaining about everyone and they basically ignored her and were sick of her. The rest of the neighbours can't stand her because she's always doing stuff. She really thinks she owns the street. It's sad really as she's only got her daughter and they're both drinkers so argue with everyone.

My carer has a neighbour who we think has mental health issues. Now obviously that isn't funny but when he is having one of his 'days' he stands on the balcony and shouts, and what he shouts can be hilarious.

eg

Everyone wanted to call me father, even Zeus wanted to call me father, father of Rome.

One of my horrid ex neighbours stole my recycling bin I think in an attempt to wind me up or get me to speak to him. I just took it back when it was emptied. It still had my house number on it.

He also accused me of being rude because I didn't answer my door because I was working. But they never answered their door to me either.

I wear yoga pants and tank tops alot with flip flops in the summer. He bought himself the exact same outfit ...

Quite often the bin men but the wrong wheelie bins back on the pavement/wherever they leave them. I have assisted collections and regularly have the bins from my neighbours’d house put back on my drive
