Night sweats (drenched) aged 32

Twinsandsome · 15/06/2024 21:51

For maybe a month-6 weeks now I have been having severe night sweats. When I say severe I mean I have woken at 1am or 4am or sometimes both thinking I have pee’d myself apart from the fact it is from the pillows to the feet. The bedding needs fully striped including mattress protector and pillow projectors as they are wet.

My bedding and pjs are 100% cotton I sleep with both windows open and the duvet is only 7.5tog. My husband works night shifts 3-4 nights a week and it makes no difference whether he is in the bed or not my side is soaking.

To be honest the broken sleep is annoying but the thing that’s getting my is the amount of time per week I am wasting washing and drying and making the bed again.

had anyone any ideas of what I can do or if you’ve ever had anything like this? It’s starting to worry me now. Thank you in advance x

I think you definitely need.to.go.to a doctor because it does sound unusual.

Rebusmyfire · 15/06/2024 21:54

Please see your doctor. There are some medical conditions where drenching sweats are symptom and you should get this checked out.

Mumoftwo1316 · 15/06/2024 21:56

I'm guessing you aren't postpartum - if not then definitely see gp.

In the short term you can get disposable incontinence pads and put them under your sheet (but above the mattress protector). Then it's much less to wash

JennieTheZebra · 15/06/2024 21:56

I’m a nurse. As others have said, night sweats are a bit of a “red flag” symptom. Please go see your GP.

Mistralli · 15/06/2024 21:57

It is one to discuss with a GP. Couple of causes I know of are hormone imbalances (I got them when my baby started easing back on breastfeeding) and gall bladder issues (I've also had those).

HeartShapedSea · 15/06/2024 22:00

Get checked by gp, I had these due to an autoimmune condition.

Beryls · 15/06/2024 22:00

I've had them since I was about 28, they're absolutely horrible. Mine are definitely hormone related, I'd say about 5 or 6 nights leading up to my period. I've also noticed though that I get them terribly any time I have the fan on at night, it's so strange.

fieldsofbutterflies · 15/06/2024 22:03

You need to see a doctor.

dreamstates · 15/06/2024 22:05

Go see gp. You need some blood tests etc.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/06/2024 22:05

32? Fuck.me

42.possibly.

52 expected.

def see a doctor

RandomMess · 15/06/2024 22:06

Unless still breastfeeding off to the GP.

Mine were horrendous after DC3, worse than the menopause.

CadyEastman · 15/06/2024 22:09

Another vote for seeing a GP as soon as. You need to know what's causing it. Don't let the GP fob you off.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 15/06/2024 22:10

FYI, I'm not medically qualified

However, you must see your GP!!!

Whatever it is, they will seek to make it better!!

Are you any new meds?? Have you lost weight unintentiall?
Are you more anxious than usual, very anxious??
Either way, see GP!!

AfraidToRun · 15/06/2024 22:11

I have had them since being on medication but also the week before my period. See your GP if its not normal for you, even just to rule stuff out.

justasking111 · 15/06/2024 22:14

Definitely GP, on Monday

InTheRainOnATrain · 15/06/2024 22:14

I had it post partum. Do you have a new baby or an older one you’ve recently stopped breastfeeding? Otherwise see a doctor.

Twinsandsome · 15/06/2024 22:19

Thank you all I will TRY to get a gp appointment. I have checked and don’t have a temperature etc. i am def going to try putting puppy training pads under the fitted sheet because honestly it takes 3 loads to wash all the bedding and then tumble drying and this is maybe 4-5 times per week.

Ive been looking up hemp bedding to see if it would make any difference but now I see I need to find the reason for the night sweats rather than the solution x

Have you had any other symptoms? Any unexplained weight loss, fatigue or bloating? Please do try your best to see your GP as soon as you can.

Jellytotsandwinegums · 15/06/2024 22:24

I had night sweats with menopause. I found a fluffy extra large towel helped when I woke up with wet sheets - i was too tired to remake the bed in the middle of the night so I'd put a towel down and strip the bed in the morning and bundle it all into the washing machine.

Hope your GP can get you sorted.

FuppinNora · 15/06/2024 22:28

Any chance you are pregnant? I had this in the early weeks not to quite the same extent.

RandomMess · 15/06/2024 22:28

Puppy pads will have a plastic backing which will be sweaty?

Blarn · 15/06/2024 22:29

I had hideous night sweats when I was very, very stressed. I'd wake up drenched and shivering. Still get them a couple of days leading up to my period but no whee near as severe. But there has to be an underlying reason for them, they are not normal.

Twinsandsome · 15/06/2024 22:33

I have ‘explained’ weight loss as in I’m trying to lose and yes I am fatigued. I honestly didn’t realise night sweats was such a red flag and now feel a bit stupid that I’ve not thought much of it other than giving off about all the washing!

I generally feel well other than being tired x
