TMIteen · 15/06/2024 16:32

We are going to London just for one day next Sunday and would like to park out of the congestion zone and get a tube in.
We are driving down from Nottingham. Can anyone please suggest somewhere to park? Thanks

Watford

London / tube network is huge
where are driving in to and which line are you on?

fromtheshires · 15/06/2024 16:34

Stanmore is my usual place if I'm driving down to london and tubing in.

afaloren · 15/06/2024 16:36

We usually use Just Park to book a driveway in Perivale then get the central line in! Goes to Tottenham Court Road (near Charing Cross).

Do you also want to avoid Ulez, or is your car compliant? Ulez extends further out than the congestion charge zone.

West Hounslow tube station. Large free car park right next to the tube. Sometimes there is a small market on in the car park but we’ve never failed to find a space

We went earlier this year down M1 and parked at Edgware. You can go through the commuter car park and into the shoppers one and it's £6 for 24 hours. Was ridiculously easy.

CraftyNavySeal · 15/06/2024 16:47

There is no tube service from Edgware at the moment.

I would go to Watford junction then you can get the fast train to Euston

TMIteen · 15/06/2024 16:51

Thank you.
Coming in from the north on the M1. We are ULEZ complaint

Luton airport?

But why not go on the train all the way from Nottignham- so so easy.

Westfield , central line tube

IcouldbutIdontwantto · 15/06/2024 16:53

Where do you need to get to in London? Might help narrow down options to an easy tube line

fluffiphlox · 15/06/2024 16:55

Amersham.

Have look around the tubes and where people allow you to park on their drives for a fee - so you find a parking place via one of those sites, park up, and a couple of mins walk to tube

Warning, there are good tube lines for central London and others not so = what do you want to do in my city, lol (we live in London but greater London ie outside cnetre

We are going to an exhibition at the British Museum. Hadn’t thought about it also being one of the days Taylor Swift is at Wembley!!

Why not just park in London? There are loads of NCPs.

Judgedbycats · 15/06/2024 17:15

Massive car park at Stanmore.

StripedPiggy · 15/06/2024 17:20

You can park on the street free of charge on Sundays in St John’s Wood, a few minutes walk from the tube station. The area around Acacia Rd is usually a good bet. It’s easily accessible off the A41 and it’s a nice area.

Nejnej · 15/06/2024 17:22

We come from near Leicester and usually park at East Finchley. Not far from the bottom of the M1, parking only 2.50 at the weekend (or was) and about half an hour on the northern line into central London

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 15/06/2024 17:22

Are you far from Nottingham station? It’s v fast into St Pancras, then just a 20 minute walk to British Museum. Advance tickets for EMR are reasonable.

ThingsWillOnlyGetBetter · 15/06/2024 17:23

Watford and then the main line into Euston (15 mins). Then the bus to the British Museum from outside Euston (about 10 mins).

QualityDog · 15/06/2024 21:14

I get the train from East Midlands Parkway. It's so easy from there and parking is cheap and plentiful.

Rshard · 15/06/2024 21:16

We’re in Derby and always park at Stanmore, 10 minutes off the M1, so easy

londonmummy1966 · 15/06/2024 21:23

I'd head for somewhere near the top of the Piccadilly line as it goes to Russell Square and you should avoid the worst of the Wembley crowds. Normally Watford would be a good shout (as you can walk from Euston) but that line runs through Wembley so the world and his wife will be on it - therefore also a good reason for avoiding Euston.

Time40 · 15/06/2024 21:25

Because it costs a bloody fortune to park in a car park in London. And also, driving in central London is very slow.
