If your dishwasher is over 7 years old...

What brand is it?

Ours has just died after 6 years. Previous one was the same age when it conked out.
I know this is about the average life of them but wondering if it's worth forking out a bit more for a Bosch or whatever. Not bothered about fancy features, just want it to wash well (preferably without the arms getting blocked every 5 mins!)

For reference our past ones have been Kenwood/Russell Hobbs
Also live in a hard water area which doesn't help at all.

Ours is Siemens and has been ok, had Bosch before that

SatinHeart · 14/06/2024 22:20

We had a Siemens that lasted 10 years of heavy use with hard water. I loved it!

Now we've got a Bosch (because we got it for free) but I miss the Siemens.

Bosch - 11 years old, the one before was Bosch and that lasted 12 years.

Fisher& Paykel Double Drawer, just turned 7 years old. We had a house built and the builder used all F&P appliances, otherwise I would have had a Bosch. I love the two drawers though.

Beko cheap model. It's been hammered. No repairs so far.

Same with my washer and dryer. They're hammered and all ancient now.

Bosch. Bought it in 2010 or 2011.
Hard water area.

Exactly same for me, is doing an awesome job still

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 14/06/2024 22:54

Siemens.

Daisymay2 · 14/06/2024 22:56

I have had 2 Bosch which lasted for 11 and 12 years respectively. I now have an AEG , only because it was all I could get leading up to Christmas 2021, when there were all sorts of post Covid shortages. Not impressed with AEG at all.
im in a very hard water area as well.

Nettleskeins · 14/06/2024 23:03

My newish Bosch has needed frequent repairs. I think they don't make them like they used to.

The older the dishwasher the longer it lasts..🤔

My Miele washing machine has lasted 15 years though!!

CraftyNavySeal · 14/06/2024 19:53

Bosch. At least 12 years old and we have hard water

Same

OolongTeaDrinker · 14/06/2024 23:07

Our Miele was put in by the last owners of our house in 2006 and is still going strong :)

Lillieloola · 14/06/2024 23:09

Beko ,about 10 years. Cheap but reliable. We have a tumble dryer White Knight, about 30years old…think it was about £50 .

lljkk · 14/06/2024 23:09

How many times a day do you run the dwashr, OP?

weegiemum · 14/06/2024 23:10

Beko. Had it 10 years!

CelesteCunningham · 14/06/2024 23:10

Ours is Neff, ten years old and going strong, run once and often twice a day since it went in.

We've also had good reliability from Bosch appliances, as has my mum. MIL has had good luck with Neff, her Neff oven must've lasted 30 years.

HÆLTHEPAIN · 14/06/2024 23:11

Bosch 9 years old and still going strong (touch wood).

mollyfolk · 14/06/2024 23:13

We have a 12 year old neff. Cost a fortune - or it seemed at the time: it works as brilliantly as it did on day 1. These items are too boring to keep buying - I always spend big on appliances.

TheOneWithUnagi · 14/06/2024 23:13

We inherited a very old Miele with our house. The wire racks were falling apart but dishwasher is still going strong.

Saisong · 14/06/2024 23:14

Siemens, and it's approx 35y. Used daily and never a single malfunction or replacement part. I do try and maintain it well as we are in very hard water area - always salt, rinse aid and a deep clean every few months. It's only slimline and I would have upgraded to a full one, except it's worked so faithfully I daren't replace it!

Littlefish · 14/06/2024 23:14

Our AEG has just died, after 15 years of very faithful service. We're having a NEFF next.

NewName24 · 14/06/2024 23:16

Beko, which we also had prior to this one. That's about 25 years between the two, daily use, no issues.

BiscuityBoyle · 14/06/2024 23:28

We have a Bosch.

It might interest people to know that the majority shareholder in Bosch is a charitable foundation that supports medical research and the arts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Bosch_Stiftung

Nat6999 · 14/06/2024 23:29

Mine is 10 years old & is a Bosch, I'm thinking of replacing it with a new model but am loath to as it was one of the last things late dp bought me before he died.

Nat6999 · 14/06/2024 23:32

My mum's Miele one is 27 years old, the repair man has told her to not change it until he can no longer get parts for it. It was very expensive, around £900 when she bought it but it has been worth every penny.
