I can’t see that we’ll have a hot summer…

Is it a bit premature to be saying this? It’s cloudy and grey out here, and feels autumnal today. Last June we had a heatwave. Looking at the long term forecasts it doesn’t seem like any heat is coming our way. Do you think it’ll change? I don’t mind not having 30 degrees, but a nice summery 20 degrees would be nice!

Last year we had a couple of weeks in Sept, a nice surprise as we spent the in Devon - the last two years have been awful weather wise - its the ruddy wind, cold wind and the temps are lower that avg - we had the heatingon a couple of days ago and we are in London - had it on again for a couple of hours

we have a sought facing lounge with a massive glass wall and the sun heats up the whole house but this years we've only used the electric awning once, all 27 feet of it

I recall the brown grass of a few years ago, a lovely summer

Wearing tights 🙄was about to put them away but seems summer is not happening this year

May was the 12th consecutive hottest month on record. Be careful what you wish for.

I can’t believe this!

@tippalo I suppose it's not actually been really freezing cold however it feels a lot colder when you're soaked to the skin much of the time Hmm although looking at my Facebook memories May has definitely been vest and sandal weather most other years so difficult to believe and I'd be surprised if June continues any such trend looking ahead at the forecast

PlantDoctor · 07/06/2024 07:24

It has been nice early summer weather here in Cornwall for the last fortnight. (Finally! It rained for months and months before that). You can't base a prediction on current weather anyway. It's supposed to be an el nino year so really we're in for very high temperatures

PouredConcrete · 07/06/2024 07:28

Middling weather absolutely fine with me. I’m much more worried about extremes- high temperatures and violent wind and rainstorms- in this day and age

WhatNoRaisins · 07/06/2024 07:34

If I could choose I'd have six weeks of it being mostly dry and about 20-22. I like it to be warm enough to go outside but not so hot you can't face walking anywhere.

K0OLA1D · 07/06/2024 10:30

So, I take back my, its been fine here for a couples of days.... its dark and pissing it down this morning! Serves me right 🤣

Glad I managed get my washing done yesterday!

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/06/2024 10:31

Been bright and sunny here this week, NW coast.

dizzydizzydizzy · 08/06/2024 17:33

The weather in the uk can turn on a dime.

Mystro202 · 08/06/2024 17:36

Freezing here today, had the heat on this morning 😬

Caravaggiouch · 08/06/2024 17:39

June has been lovely for us so far. A couple of days with rain showers, some heavy, but otherwise sunny and between 15 and 18 degrees which is perfectly pleasant. Heatwaves can fuck off.

The long range forecast is for a hot July. Here's hoping!

Really?! 😃
Oh! Oh god please let it be true.

We're away in Dorset for a week in July. Caravan.
SO want a bit of sunshine.

The suns out here (s midlands) but that wind is so damn cold!

WhatNoRaisins · 08/06/2024 19:03

I've actually enjoyed the weather the last few days, it's like the dry days of spring that we didn't seem to get because of the endless rain

Iamtarticus · 08/06/2024 19:05

I'm happy in a cool sunny wind. Its so much nicer to sleep in as well.

Not too hot, I hope. Temperatures above 25 can be really difficult for the very young, the old and people with health issues and pets..

My ideal would be 23/24 during the day then rain at night to freshen everything up again.

Sounds like our June temps - and it's winter here. I certainly wouldn't be happy with those temps in early summer!!!!

In the south west it's dry with sun but very windy today 🥶

minuette1 · 01/08/2024 15:59

I am counting down the days to autumn now, this heat is unbearable!

devildeepbluesea · 01/08/2024 16:00

I’m loving every second, even if I am sweating cobs

GoTigers · 01/08/2024 16:01

I am LOVING this heat! I want it to last till mid Sept - heaven!

showeringthisaft · 01/08/2024 16:07

Why can't it just be a nice pleasant 21 degrees with a slight breeze?

It's always either cold/raining or too hot and muggy.

Meadowfinch · 01/08/2024 16:09

In Hampshire. The warmth of the last two weeks has been fantastic.

Our farmers are loving it. Haymaking, and watching wheat and barley ripen. We'd like at least another three weeks of this please. 🤗

TwistedSisters · 01/08/2024 16:13

Has been absolutely glorious here in East Anglia for the past couple weeks and looks set to continue! Off to watch the combines this evening ... long may it last 😍
