I can’t see that we’ll have a hot summer…

Is it a bit premature to be saying this? It’s cloudy and grey out here, and feels autumnal today. Last June we had a heatwave. Looking at the long term forecasts it doesn’t seem like any heat is coming our way. Do you think it’ll change? I don’t mind not having 30 degrees, but a nice summery 20 degrees would be nice!

Where I live in Yorkshire, we’ve got highs of 14 degrees until next Wednesday, factor in the wind chill and it drops to 8 degrees some days 🥶
Not exactly shorts and flip flop weather

K0OLA1D · 06/06/2024 18:25

I'm in the Midlands and today and yesterday were around 19 degrees and sunny. Got 3 loads of washing done today. The back door is open as are most of the windows!

I had my dinner outside both days as well. It's gone a bit cool now but the kids are both out and about in shorts and t shirts.

Which part of the Midlands out of curiosity. I'm also in the Midlands and yesterday it pissed it down, was exceptionally windy and we had three separate hail storms??

Same east of Scotland - next two/three days are highs of 13/14c. Utter shit.

Staffordshire. Yesterday morning we had showers but it was nice by the time I had my dinner at about half 12ish. No hail!

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 06/06/2024 18:31

We aren’t getting any summer. Skipped straight to autumn.

K0OLA1D · 06/06/2024 18:32

Does look a bit bleak for the rest of the week, but getting warmer again next weekend.

lissie123 · 06/06/2024 18:33

My DD has just returned from Australia and she says she is freezing and going around in fleeces jeans and woolly socks. 🤣

mum2jakie · 06/06/2024 18:35

My youngest asked me why he could see his own breath outside when it's June!!

Puppylucky · 06/06/2024 18:38

@lissie123 that's because it's their autumn! They've had their glorious summer earlier this year.

Moidershewrote · 06/06/2024 18:49

I’ll take this over a heat wave any day - 2y ago my bedroom temp went up to 38c for a few days, it was horrendous.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 06/06/2024 18:50

Im in the SE but am still going to work in black tights and warm cardi's, when normally by now I'd be bare legged in sandals and maybe a light cardi. It does feel like a very long Spring.

feellikeanalien · 06/06/2024 18:54

When I got into the car at just before 2 this afternoon it was 8 degrees and tipping it down. (In the NE of England). I've got the heating on now.

WestSouthWest · 06/06/2024 18:55

It’s definitely cooler than usual for June. I’m still wearing socks, slippers and a jumper in the house! It just feels like an extra-long Spring. Hopefully July, August and September will bring some warmer weather.

User364837 · 06/06/2024 18:58

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for late July and August - the school holidays last year were atrocious.
And I’m feeling super grateful for GCSE and A level takers that it’s not boiling hot

Isitchill · 06/06/2024 19:02

Still chilly in Hampshire. I'm still wearing a vest under my office work clothes. I shouldn't have cold hands in June FGS. My veg isn't growing either.

It was so nice this time last year.

buffyslayer · 06/06/2024 19:07

My heating clicked on this morning!

Completely agree regards the exam season.

I find the weather tricky as when the sun does come out it has some strength so you can really feel it. But when it’s windy and cloudy it’s definitely on the chillier side. Different to previous years certainly. But, I don’t like it too hot so I’m not really complaining!

BusySittingDown · 06/06/2024 19:20

It's pissed it down every day for the last two weeks.

I. Am. Furious.😡

I love it when it's boiling hot.

BusySittingDown · 06/06/2024 19:21

Although, yes - it's good for the exam takers. DD1 did her GCSEs last year and said it was hell in the heat.

callabroa · 06/06/2024 19:24

I am scanning the long range forecast but who knows. It says average or above average rainfall for aug.
Last year we went to Devon late July and there were severe storms. It was shite with a toddler.
We are debating cancelling our late aug Devon hol this year and going abroad for the second time in the school hols.
I suffer with SAD and I have hated the last 18 months.

jollygreenpea · 06/06/2024 20:30

steamingbeet

Sorry for the delay, I've been out. I'm in the NW.

ZipZapZoom

Where I am the current temperature is 14 degrees, it's overcast and windy and people have been wearing coats and boots. You'd be positively frostbitten in a T-shirt here.

Sums our weather up perfectly, sadly.

Theedgeoftheabyss · 06/06/2024 20:42

Fook's saaaake. How will we get through this? I'm all for puddle suits a dose of pull yerself together but I'm seriously losing the will!

liveforsummer · 06/06/2024 20:47

Yesterday our p1 sports day came to an abrupt end when a torrential shower turned to heavy hail! Wtf. Not a single spell of decent weather yet this year (or last from July onwards) very fed up now!
