It gets worse for bald men.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-40185359

I wouldn’t like to be attacked by a crow. Already terrified of magpies in Australia.

Black bald man

Mozambique police warn bald men after ritual attack

Some people in Mozambique believe that the heads of bald men contain gold.

Crows and magpies can pass down information through generations about people who are mean to them. So presumably some bald guy did something cruel and word got out. And I guess all bald men look the same from above!

SheepAndSword · 05/06/2024 03:33

Something has happened to upset them. Wouldn't know how to assuage them however...

If I was a bald guy I'd probably wear a hard hat, ouch

Deathraystare · 05/06/2024 09:15

Ooh. Used to live in Dulwich. Not the posh bit though! Plus I am not bald and not a man!!!

GentlemanJohnny · 05/06/2024 09:17

Never happen in Upper Norwood.

lawnseed · 05/06/2024 09:19

They obviously know something we don't. People need to be kind to all animals.

Marplesyrup · 05/06/2024 09:37

We had a baby crow in our garden that didn’t get off the ground for a couple of days and it was calling to its parents who seemed to stay near. They were obviously comforting it and encouraging it to fly. We were concerned about a cat or fox attacking it so we were periodically checking it was OK, but if we got too close, the parents would swoop down near our heads as a clear warning. I never felt in any danger, although perhaps I should have done after reading this article. Luckily it managed to fly eventually.

Bloody hell how do you know that??

Momstermunch · 05/06/2024 09:47

Weird! I'm reading a book about witches and they all have crows as their familiars. So that's basically a witch getting her revenge on all the people who wronged her...

PuttingDownRoots · 05/06/2024 09:48

Its peacocks attacking cars around here. A better class of bird in Yorkshire than Dulwich...

echt · 05/06/2024 09:53

Australian magpies do this, and yes, they know who you are and don't go after people they know. Same with noisy miners.

I used to live in Dulwich...how times have changed.

Asusefulasamarzipandildo · 05/06/2024 09:54

Corvids are incredible birds, highly intelligent species. Never ever piss one off or you will live a lifetime of regret.

Because the crows and magpies told them - how else would wallywobbles know . She is obviously in with the crowd / crows

Needmorelego · 05/06/2024 10:01

Ouch 😬
I live near Dulwich.
Maybe the crows are annoyed at the LTNs and lack of phone reception.
There's frequently a 3 way war going on between the rooks, parakeets and magpies round my way.
The rooks usually win.......

longtompot · 05/06/2024 11:23

It's probably the shine from their heads. I got attacked by a carrion bird of some type when I walked down a lane they were nesting in the trees on to the village we lived in. I had a shiny hair clip which is what they were trying to get. It was very scary.

Bouledeneige · 05/06/2024 17:34

How very Greek. That's how Aeschylus died!

In 458 BC, Aeschylus returned to Sicily for the last time, visiting the city of Gela, where he died in 456 or 455 BC. Valerius Maximus wrote that he was killed outside the city by a tortoise dropped by an eagle which had mistaken his head for a rock suitable for shattering the shell, and killed him

Madcats · 05/06/2024 18:00

Does anyone else remember a fairly lengthy thread about a lady, and a dog who had had a run in with some crows, who was so scared she had persuaded her neighbour to walk the dog with her?

I don't think she ever returned to the thread!

Just saying.......

Needmorelego · 05/06/2024 18:38

@Madcats are you saying the crows ate her 🤔

LlynTegid · 05/06/2024 19:23

You are safe from a visit from Chris Grayling then, that will keep him away.

Beetlewings · 05/06/2024 19:58

Why don't they just put a hat on?

I bet it weren't £6 a pint in the DHFC clubhouse when you lived there either!

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/06/2024 20:23

How interesting! I live very nearby and had no idea it was a problem. The council have very helpfully made it a "private school children only allowed" street for several hours a day due to Alleyns and Jags. Perhaps the crows want the plebs to be allowed back?

bozzabollix · 05/06/2024 20:26

I know someone who lives round there who is a right knob, so this has unreasonably cheered me up (apologies to pleasant Dulwich dwellers).
