What time do you go to bed/wake up

I go to sleep at around 11pm ish (tonight is a late night for me) and wake up around 7-8am. I have a toddler with type 1 diabetes and my sleep is often disrupted if he has a low during the night. What is your usual fall asleep and wake up times, also does anyone else have issues like this and if so what causes the sleep disruption. Just a light hearted topic

I'm usually in bed by 9 or 10 and up by 530/6. I've always been early to bed early to rise though.

coxesorangepippin · 27/05/2024 02:31

Up around 7

Bed around 10

SlothsNeverGetIll · 27/05/2024 04:30

I'm 40, no kids, work full time - 2 days in the office and 3 from home.
I go to bed at 10pm and get up at 6am on the days that I'm in the office, and 7am on the days that I'm at home.
I don't start work until 9am but like a slow morning with a coffee, some chores and maybe a dog walk.
I've had inconsistent sleep for my entire adult life. I sleep 'well' (not waking in the night) maybe only twice/three times a week. I don't let it bother me these days and always feel pretty decent regardless.

I haven't seen my sleep pattern mentioned yet. My body these days seems to want to sleep 7.30pm until around 3am. I can't seem to reset back to normal hours

BabySocksNeverStayOn · 27/05/2024 05:11

Bed at 9pm-10pm up at 5am every day.

Paninaro94 · 27/05/2024 05:16

Weekdays if not out -sleep at 9pm and get up at 5am. Weekends vary. Would love to do this every day but social life gets in the way!

DaftyLass · 27/05/2024 05:16

On the road by 7 at the latest

SacreBlue · 27/05/2024 05:25

For the last 4/5ys I’ve slept less than 24hrs a week

Most often two sleeps of 1-2hrs between 11.30pm & 6am

Interspersed by the holy grail of 4hrs & the ffs cracked mug of none

Dontsparethehorses · 27/05/2024 05:25

Normally asleep by 9.30/10 and awake about 5. Previous night I stayed up until 11 but was awake at 4- I’m always early bird (as are both my children!) and love the quiet of a morning. I am never bothered about staying up late to be honest…

stronglatte · 27/05/2024 05:41

Sleep around 11pm, up at 7.30am but DH's alarm goes off around 6 so I normally doze in bed with a coffee from then.

WhitegreeNcandle · 27/05/2024 07:09

Wow there’s a lot of people getting not a lot of sleep here! Bed at 9.30, asleep at 10. Awake at 5.30 up at 6 for me

I have a non-24 hour circadian rhythm.

This is normal - it's the mechanism by which your body adapts to changing light hours and time zone s.

Most people, when left to wake and sleep naturally and without any external input to indicate time (inc light) have a non-24hour rhythm. There was a study and u cannot recall now if most people had a slightly whiter than a day rhythm or a slighter longer one. It's all the inputs in our lives that keep readjusting us back ti 24 hours to stay in line with whatever daylight conditions we're living in.

There is a sleep disorder however where people don’t readjust. My later posts go into more detail.

A lot of the people affected have other conditions- blindness or autism for example.

Often people with the condition are misdiagnosed with other things, because of symptoms that are often caused by people having to try to fit their sleep into the same patterns as others when they are not responding in the same way to the external cues.

It’s not a case of “try harder” or “force a reset” or “introduce more cues” though.

Bed between 11 and 12 (usually nearer 12). Fall asleep straight away. Awake between 6 and 7, usually up by 7. I live with a couple of night owls and its fine now the DCs are adults but it was a pain when they were younger as DS and I were always wanting to get up and go places by about 8-9 and DH/DD wanted to lie in till 10 and only then emerge slowly. We all tend to do our own thing at weekends much more now.

reabies · 27/05/2024 07:47

Before my kid I was a 9h a night kind of person. Now he's 2, and I'm pregnant again, I'm definitely not getting 9h sleep but probably lying down for that long.

In bed by 9pm most nights (8.30 if it's been a rough day) and asleep well before 10. Weekday alarm is 6.45 as I start wfh at 7am.

I love sleeping and being in bed and most days from about 5pm that's all I'm looking forward to. I hope my evenings get slightly longer again as the kids get older but I'd rather be in bed than on the sofa so it works for me.

BigMandyHarris · 27/05/2024 07:48

10pm-6am

JaninaDuszejko · 27/05/2024 07:50

Love the fact that the first few responses in the middle of the night were night owls then it got early enough for the larks to get up at 5am and it swapped to all larks.

10pm to bed, up at 5am here. I like to swim before work. DH is a night owl which causes problems, he sometimes comes to bed so late he wakes me up and if my body has had over about 4 hours sleep I struggle to get back to sleep. It's really annoying. At weekend he would sleep till midday if not disturbed.

Thanks, @ZazieBeth. Interesting!
