Is it wrong to leave the cinema to use the loo

Went to the strangers chapter one last night, I needed the loo about half an hour from the end so politely ask the people in the row with me if they could let me past. They said it was disturbing their movie. Is it wrong to think people should be able to use the loo during a movie?

If you expect to need the loo during a film surely you choose an aisle seat. Most people can last 2hrs.
But if you need to go, you need to go!

SummaLuvin · 26/05/2024 20:18

not necessarily wrong, but I would be a little annoyed at interruption when you leave and then again come back. I wouldn't say anything but would do an internal eye-roll.

IncognitoUsername · 26/05/2024 20:20

It’s not wrong - if you have to go then you have to go, but most adults would go before the film started and then be ok for the duration. It is annoying to other people.

InTheRainOnATrain · 26/05/2024 20:21

They were rude to say something but it is annoying especially with a really intense dramatic film nearing the end to be disturbed. It’s not like you can help it, or be expected to wee yourself though! I guess most people would make through a 2 hour movie unless they chug a gallon of coke, and if you know you have a weak bladder maybe go for an aisle seat next time if there’s one free?

AdoraBell · 26/05/2024 20:21

It’s not wrong. If it was then the loos would be closed and signs would be up saying it’s wrong.

It might be inconvenient but how would it ruin the film?

S0livagant · 26/05/2024 20:23

It's fine. Though, maybe choose an aisle seat next time if you know you can't wait. Also halfway through is better than the last half hour.

takemeawayagain · 26/05/2024 20:23

It's annoying, just like people arriving late for the theatre. Did they actually refuse to move though? or just moan a bit?

ladyvimes · 26/05/2024 20:27

If you’ve got to go you’ve got to go!

thanKyouaIMee · 26/05/2024 20:28

I've not been to a cinema recently that you can't just walk down the aisles of without people moving - did you have to ask them to physically move? That would definitely annoy me so close to the end, especially having to move again to let someone back in - would totally understand a child being unable to hold though.

LlynTegid · 26/05/2024 20:28

If you did not go beforehand, then you might have been able to wait until the end. If so, you were being unreasonable.

Hobbesmanc · 26/05/2024 20:28

Wow. It's literally a split second to let someone past. Not everyone has great bladder control. I wouldn't think anything of it.

BCBird · 26/05/2024 20:29

I'd chose aisle seat too

LordSnot · 26/05/2024 20:29

If you can't last 90 minutes, sit on an aisle seat.

KezzaMucklowe · 26/05/2024 20:29

It's fine, people need the loo, it's normal. People just need to learn to be a bit more resilient and tolerant.

holybaloni · 26/05/2024 20:30

In what world is it unreasonable to need the toilet? If other people are too entitled to be mildly inconvenienced by moving for one second it's them who are unreasonable.
I have bladder and bowel issues and it's the attitude from posters on this thread that puts me off going out sometimes. Shameful.

dementedpixie · 26/05/2024 20:31

I always choose aisle seats as I often need the toilet part way through

KezzaMucklowe · 26/05/2024 20:32

Although I would add that I chose and aisle seat where possible.
It certainly doesn't bother me to shift my position for a couple of seconds while someone walks past to go though.

PoopingAllTheWay · 26/05/2024 20:32

Christ, people. Get up, and sit back down
What is the drama! ?

People are so judgemental of others

Don't the bastards grind you down.

PopcornPop · 26/05/2024 20:34

Why not just go before the movie? Yes it’s annoying but I wouldn’t comment

dementedpixie · 26/05/2024 20:35

I always go before the film starts but still need to pee part way through. This is why I always choose to sit in an aisle seat

Swissrollover · 26/05/2024 20:37

I have bowel disease - ulcerative colitis. If I thought there was any chance that I would urgently need the toilet during a movie/ theatre performance etc, I would ensure that I had an aisle seat (although, I would likely not be at the cinema while experiencing a flare).

Sorry, but YABU to disturb others and think it is normal to inconvenience people. Sometimes it can't be helped, but should and could be avoided in most instances by planning seating, etc.

Soubriquet · 26/05/2024 20:38

When you gotta go, you gotta go. However this wouldn’t be a problem in my local cinema. It’s quite expensive but the seats lay down which means there is a massive gap to walk through the rows. No need to ask anyone to move

5475878237NC · 26/05/2024 20:41

This isn't AIBU.

I don't think it's wrong at all. People are so intolerant of each other it's horrible to see.

ButterCrackers · 26/05/2024 20:41

They can easily let you by. Nothing wrong with having to use the loo.
